so this week the game will NOT be on TV....WDAZ didn't didn't bid and KVLY did - BUT UND sports nixed any tv coverage because of the backlash from last weeks turnout. I know it's a holiday but do ANYTHING you can to turn out this week. What would be a better gift T-Day gift than to take your family and friends to this weeks game to SCREAM your heads off!! (like the turkey you just ate) Bottom line - NO TV THIS WEEKEND - show up or shut up!!! Just an opinion...

You guys just got a "magic carpet" (After you saw it at the Al, I might add...just like the videoboards)... I seriously doubt Erv "never let them see you sweat" Inniger and the Boys are going to shell out for new turf anytime soon. It took 10 years, bursting seams, and concrete showing through before they got rid of that old rug at the Barn...

Blame TV coverage for the mediocre turnout. There's always a few cheapskates that won't shell out to come to the game if they can lay on their couch and watch it free on TV. I will say the 7200 were a GOOD 7200 as they were CHEERING FANS. Let me revise that...6700 were cheering fans. The 500 or so "elite" in the suites barely bothered to clap. Got to tell you...those people really *iss me off. I'm in a position to see down the entire row of suites, although I'm not in one, and if you see more than one person actually excited about anything it's a rarity. I'd like to see the Alerus give away a free ticket for every jerk in the suites just so we can offset the Roman Senate up there who don't believe it's proper for them to join in with the cheering masses. HEADS UP for next week - it's a holiday and we probably won't have nearly as many students. If you're planning to go to the Winona game...tell a friend and lets get as many as we can in there! GO SIOUX!!

You know the Herald - They'll take ANY chance to stir up the nickname issue again. This was not news - at least not worthy of a front page story in the local section. If anything it should have been a 1" column on the back page. If the teepee had been trashed or painted up - that's one thing. A couple drunks walking by stumbled in - BIG DEAL - who knows, it could have even been Native Americans (GASP!!) MEANWHILE - a guy missing since thursday in TRF finally got a little mention on PAGE 9 of Sundays Herald - that's our PUKELITZER PRIZE WINNER PAPER!

I'm sure the National Committee is tossing and turning at night thinking about what DII will do WITHOUT the Bison. I thought you guys had made THE MOVE and DII wasn't worth a crap! (EXCEPT for all the DII championships you won - which SOMEHOW are TOTAL GOLD!!!) You are going away...by your own choice...don't bitch because your former division isn't kow-towing to YOUR supposed status. You had a great run in the '80's but haven't done SQUAT since!! Let's see...the AL is 3 years old and will be hosting it's 4th Playoff game...The DOME is 11 years old and you haven't seen ONE postseason game and you won't until at least the BARNS 15th Anniversary!! good luck!!

ohh yeah -- I remember UNA!! I was in Florence for that game ('94 I believe) and remember doing interviews with the UNA Coach. He said they had about a dozen NFL prospects. That should have tipped us off right there. What DII school has numbers like that?? When it finally came out, what did they have? Like 60-something total scholarships?? (Virtually a DI-AA school) Oh yeah, it was a math error!!! The real pisser was the NCAA never did anything about that - even after it was revealed!! The Sioux got screwed that year (and the year previous in the clay mud pit at UPI) How sweet it would be if UNA came up here for the semi's...I'm sure RT would give them a talk they'd never forget!! I'm getting ahead of myself and we need to take care of some business first but I'd LOVE to see UNA make the trip to GF...

Here's to NOT having it on TV!! The crowds for St. Cloud and UNO were down because it was on tv and we need a nice crowd inside the AL to make it tough on the GO-RILLAS!! (Man - you gotta love that nickname! I wish they could bring their big inflatable Gorilla with them but they'd have leave 1/4 of the team behind to get it in the plane) Don't be afraid to call UND Athletics and let them know your feelings...My guess is 'DAZ and the FSSN will get the nod for a minimum bid AND a lot of people will stay home and watch...

Here's my prediction..(take it to the bank BISONMAV) #1 - UND #2 - Winona - OKAY!! I agree - an NSIC team HOSTING??? They're a victim of LUCKY circumstance (IE the Missouri schools losing...guess we'll see about the "quality" of the Northern Sun...if they host they can't bitch about losing...) #3 - Central Missouri - 6 minus 4 equals 3....when #2 loses... #4 - Emporia - you can't take only one team from a five-way tie for the conference title..no matter how "mediocre" you think the conferece is...They've proven themselves in the past and taking just 1 of 5 teams IS an injustice...like it or not... #5 - NDSU - outside looking in...AGAIN...You got a break staying at #5 after your loss to SCSU....in my opinion...you were just being set up to keep you hopes up when really you could have been making vacation plans two weeks ago. PS - I thought the whole purpose of moving up to I-AA was because DII wasn't worth a crap anymore...why are you so freaked out about missing the playoffs? You're BIG TIME NOW....(or at least 4 or more years from now!)

Okay...here's a couple thoughts...be CAREFUL with these! Especially the first one but I think they could be okay. GRANTED, they're from an older guy (I'm 38 ) so some of you kids might not remember the references but here goes...(Cartoon picture of a naked butt with an arrow pointing down to the "crevice") Caption: "Valley of the Dahls" Reference to the old movie Valley of the Dolls...people would get it - trust me! Second thought...a reference to a Frank Zappa song...."watch out where the Huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow!" -- Could be good with a sign that says "Don't you eat that yellow snow" above a guy in the penalty box...again, trust me...us old guys in the crowd and hopefully on TV would get it!! The signs have been great - keep up the good work guys!!!
