That is why this action has shocked and outraged so many people.
-
They'll just put their fingers in their ears and yell really loud "Team Rules, Team Rules, Team Rules, LA, LA, LA, LA, LA, LA!". I am friends with Mike McFeeley on Facebook and you wouldn't believe some of the crap Bison fans are putting in the comment section. One delusional person even asserted that we have no right to tell Bohl how to run his program. Yeah, I guess what happens at a public institution like NDSU is none of our business.

Week 2: Potato Bowl 2012 - UND vs. Portland State
fightingsioux4life replied to UND-FB-FAN's topic in Football
This is an absolute joke. We have to build interest and passion for football with the students before we even think of charging them for tickets. -
And if he did, I would say the same thing.
-
Mr. Clean must have misplaced this item: Bohl had no problem using this tool when dealing with other player discipline issues, but now when it involves so many important contributors to the team, he decides not to "jump to conclusions". This is a pure double-standard and I expected better from Mr. Clean.

Week 2: Potato Bowl 2012 - UND vs. Portland State

That hasn't been a problem in years. Hopefully, this season will help re-establish the 12th man on defense. -
I agree with you, but according to the "experts" at the ND State Data Center at NDSU in Fargo (big surprise there, right?) keep insisting that Grand Forks is losing population. But with all the houses and apartment buildings being built on the south end year after year, the brisk commercial activity and increasing enrollment at UND, it's hard to believe that. No one is going to sink millions into an apartment building if there isn't a demand for housing, which there is.

I am one of those.

So much for the myth of Grand Forks "declining".

Week 2: Potato Bowl 2012 - UND vs. Portland State

Thanks for sharing. -
I wasn't targeting you in particular. I was targeting the casual fan that might decide that the season is over before it starts because one guy goes down for a few weeks. UND football has way too many of those fans. We are Division I FCS now, no more "transition", no more "non-counter status", no more membership in a "conference" that is nothing more than a glorified scheduling arrangment. One injury is not going to ruin all that, but the media today (Tom Miller, I am talking to you) is already preaching a doom and gloom storyline. Is it a big loss for the offense? Yes. Does it put the coaches in a tough spot? Yes. Will we have to pull a redshirt? Yes (there is no way Muss is going to put in a "QB" converted from another position who last played QB in high school; this season is much too important to the program). But this is still the most exciting team we have had since 2001. After what we have put up with during the past 5 years, I am going to enjoy this 100%.

Anybody that thinks the season is lost because of what happened to Hanson can just get off the bandwagon right now. This team is deeper and more athletic than they have ever been and they have great depth at RB and WR. The defense is looking to be a strength of the team once again. And if they have to pull a redshirt off of a QB, so what? It won't ruin the program. If this team can get better week by week, we'll have a solid first year in the Big Sky Conference, and that isn't all that bad considering how we looked a couple of years ago. Keep the faith!

I see you are still at it with your cute little comments and cheapshots. I guess when you are 100% wrong about something, that's all you have left.
-
Considering all the UND alums that live in Fargo, you simply can't make the argument that there isn't a market for UND sports in Imperial Cass County. That's like the NFL saying the replacement refs will do "a credible job" during the regular season if the lockout lasts that long.
-
This is a hold over from our transition period when it was hard to get games. Our future schedules are looking much, much better.
-
People are willing to fork over $7 for beer, $6 for burgers and $5 for hot dogs at REA, but are whining about tailgate food not being free? Come on people, it's a big event and a big day in UND athletics. Quit looking for stuff to complain about.
-
Thanks for the interest in UND athletics. Now, please focus on your own program's problems, they are considerable.
-
NDSU had better not have ANYTHING to do with this outrage.
-
This could rival the 80-0 blowout NDSU had over Minnesota State-Moorhead in 2000.
-
You are forgetting who has more ND State Hockey Championships.
-
Okay, that is a fair position to take on this. I also think FCS is the right level for UND and I hope our teams meet in the playoffs sometime.
-
Oh really? You basically agreed with my position that being low-level FBS is not as good as being upper-level FCS. I never once mentioned basketball in my post. Not once. There has been some FBS talk on this forum from both NDSU and UND fans and I felt it was important to point out that people should be careful for what they wish for because the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. Both UND and NDSU are in the perfect place (Division I in all sports and DI FCS in football). I guess I could live with one division of D-I basketball and I also could live with having two tiers of D-I basketball, but I think any more than that would water it down too much. As long as UND contends nationally in Men's and Women's Hockey and FCS Football, I won't complain too much about basketball not having a chance at a D-I championship.
-
So, based on your logic, NDSU would have been better off in a low-level FBS bowl game, in mid-December, on a weeknight, on ESPN2, that nobody knows or cares about, with lots of empty seats in the stands, with a crappy payout that barely covers the cost of the trip than hosting three FCS playoff games and then traveling to Frisco, TX with a bunch of your fans and winning your first national football title in 21 years? Good luck with that.

If people are petty enough to boycott UND athletics because they don't like Grand Forks Red River High School athletics, then we don't need them. I am a Central alum (Class of 1993) and I couldn't care less about this. Like I have said before, if we start ruling out nicknames because someone else is using them, then we might as well stop brainstorming.
