  1. I think there is a clause in the agreement that says UND cannot remain without a nickname of some kind.
  2. Not an option in the agreement with the NC$$.
  3. That only lasted a couple of years (thank God).
  4. Good choice! Close enough to campus, but far enough away to provide parking and to be able to build it as big as they need to. Before the new REA was built, that whole area was wide open green space. Now, it's pretty much filled up.
  5. Ed Belfour brought The Cup to Grand Forks in 1999. Mike Commodore did it in 2006. So it isn't totally unprecedented. But let's not forget, these guys have everybody and their uncle asking for a personal visit with The Cup and not everyone will get told yes.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rwPovyR9HY "Okay.... As long as you're willing to admit that."
  7. I was being a smart-mouth (one of my many skills). Apparently your Moo U education didn't teach you that.
  8. A slice of humble pie for Imperial Cass County? It's long overdue!
  9. I still maintain that comparing the United States and Canada is apples and oranges. Mr. Ballard is probably more concerned with playing time than this stuff.
  10. Whatever the tax burden is in Minnesota now, it still can't be higher than what it was in Vancouver. And I am talking both Provincial and Federal.
  11. It might take us 3-4 years to figure that one out!
  12. I am talking about the entire history of this franchise, not last year. I think they have some pieces in place to become an annual playoff contender, but I will believe it when I see it. Doug Risebrough did a lot of damage to this franchise and it will take time to clean it up. Whether it will happen or not is the question.
  13. The Mild keep making $$$$$$$$$ because the fans keep buying tickets whether the team wins or loses, so there isn't an incentive to improve the team more than they have to. "Hometown Boy" Zach Parise is playing for the "State of Hockey", so that means we have to get season tickets and go to every game. Last year, I was arguing that Parise and Suter should have signed with a real playoff contender and not an annual pretender. I hope the Mild become something more, but I am not holding my breath.
  14. .....with an additional "suggestion" that the producers refer to us as the "Green and White". I am being sarcastic, but I just can't shake the feeling that it will be used as a "fail-safe, fallback" choice if everything else fails.
  15. No, but they should be bummed that they can't get out of the first round. Maybe bottom of the barrel is too harsh, but it's unacceptable that this franschise has been mired in quicksand for so many years. Your accepting attitude about it is also part of the problem. Why should the front office care if the fans are satisfied with just making the playoffs?
  16. Yeah.....so did 15 other teams. In a 30 team league, "making the playoffs" is not a standard of excellence I would be proud of. And it had been several years since the Mild had even managed to accomplish that. Overall, the total body of work is mediocre at best.
  17. We have an NHL team 150 miles to the north of us (Winnipeg Jets) that I think will win a championship before the Mild ever get close to winning one. If you need a viable alternative, that would be my choice.
  18. This is a textbook example of why the Minnesota Wild (Mild) are a bottom of the barrel franchise in the NHL. No wonder people are starting to lose interest in them; you can't use the "expansion team" crutch anymore.
  19. I am with you on that! Local places seem to have better food and service than chains.
  20. I know, I was also being a smart-mouth. It's what I do best!
  21. Read my signature. That's the boilerplate answer a lot of people give.
  22. The red line is only used to determine icing. The NHL adopted this after the 2004-05 lockout to open up the game.
