Got it done in OT. Big road sweep. We still have four regular season games remaining, nothing locked up yet. -

This is where Hakstol's "Baseline" B.S. causes problems. If you get a lead by being aggressive and playing to win, why in the world would you want to back off and start playing not to lose? The Prevent Defense prevents you from winning in the NFL and it does the same in this sport. Just play all out for 60 minutes and don't worry about making mistakes. I think that works better than this Prevent crap. -
More "Can't, Can't, Can't" type of thinking. As Micky said in Rocky II "Their ain't no can't!". We need to stop thinking "Can't" and start thinking "Can", "Should" and "Must".

I am with you and darell1976 on this. But some people on this forum will tell you that this just isn't possible because there isn't a money tree planted outside Faison's office.

There ARE positive things to talk about (MH having a great season so far, FB being rebuilt by Bubba and Co.). But ignoring the negative things won't make them go away or help to fix them. Only by shining a light on them will positive changes be made.

Look up the old axiom about people in glass houses before you make comments like this.
-
Yep, that was a big fiasco in every sense of the word.

First of all, nobody is saying we should replace coaches in any sport every 2 or 3 years. That is a straw man argument. Second of all, don't act like Jones just got here and deserves all the rope he wants. He's had 9 years to put his stamp on the program and right now it doesn't look all that good. And the players on the team are there because Jones wanted them there. Recruiting falls on the coaches (especially Jones) and if we are recruiting soft players who can't/won't rebound and fight for rebounds and who don't play well together as a team (street ball), nothing is going to change. Whomever is to blame, this team is soft and mediocre and I don't expect that to change next year or the year after that.

Really? Isn't this the designated thread for UND-NDSU bickering? Or is that inappropriate here too? Kiss NDSU's a$$ if you want, but I will not do that. Not today and not ever.
-
This was the same basic problem with Mussman. Too much focus on athleticism and not enough on the intangibles when it comes to both recruiting and in-game management.

Nice summary on how I feel about things. And I am glad I am not the only one that feels this way.

ESPN 30 for 30 - Soviet Hockey Discussion

ESPN will replay this over and over again. So if you didn't catch it the first time (like me), you'll get many more chances to watch it. -
That depends on which state you are talking about. Anyway, my point still stands.
-
If we don't have the money to get and keep the best assistant coaches in FB and other sports, then we have bigger problems than Jones.
-
I think Jimmy Kleinsasser played basketball his first year.
-
This will be a tough case to solve.
-
When you add up the Federal and State taxes (including every state New England played in), that isn't as much as it looks.
-
In fairness to Faison, he did what had to be done and fired Mussman with years left on his contract. Let's wait and see what happens with Jones before criticizing Faison.

The two major differences between UND and NDSU are the number of sports we each sponsor and we each have one program that the other doesn't (we have hockey, they have wrestling). Otherwise, we are very similar (same state, similar enrollment, both in one-bid conferences, same climatological challenges, same geographical challenges, etc.). But if you want to continue to insist that UND is an apple and NDSU is an orange, by all means go ahead. Or keep making analogies that have nothing to do with my basic point, because that is one of your strengths on this forum, isn't it?
-
So comparing two schools with very similar institutional profiles is now inappropriate? Okay, whatever floats your boat. PS: Your analogies were poor, please try harder next time.
-
Yeah, hardly any school.....except NDSU.

Yeah because Grand Forks is so much colder and more isolated than Missoula, MT or Fargo, ND and therefore, this is as good as it will ever get.

Well, Jimmy Kleinsasser was a Class B athlete in football and basketball and he turned out okay.
