The program is going in the right direction. In a couple of years, no one will remember those "second half collapses".

UND vs Youngstown State (Day #3 of FGCU Tourney)
fightingsioux4life replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
Should be, but won't be. Remember, there are some people in our fan base that think Mussman got a raw deal. Jones will be allowed to finish his current contract and whomever takes over will have to clean up the mess. That's the Faison Way. -
And that is happening.

They could do worse. A lot worse. It would also put Lennon back into the Midwest, where he has had most of his success.
-
The seat has to be getting warm for him. They built all new facilities when they hired Lennon (stadium included) and they haven't done all that much with them.
-
If that is the case, where did this "7 FCS wins" criteria come from? It gets thrown around like it's an actual rule.
-
I don't know; it just looks like it was pre-conceived.
-
As Mr. Spock would say: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few. Or the one."
-
LOL, that was funny! And true!
-
As I said above, the fix was in.

No you are not, I AM, because you are right, this does NOT add up. If the minimum standard is 7 FCS wins, why would a 6 FCS win team ever think they would be picked? That makes ZERO sense. If they were just watching to see how their conference did, that would be a possible explanation. But even that is a stretch.

The fix was in.

As you should be. But know this; Bubba and his staff will use this snub as prime bulletin board material all off-season (spring practice, summer strength and conditioning, fall practice). And it will only motivate our younger guys even more to come out on fire next season. I think Bowling Green is in for a fight against us.
-
That makes sense. And I would be against it. 24 is too big as it is.
-
I don't EVER want to hear about "7 wins" as a minimum requirement for the playoffs EVER again. That idea was flushed down the toilet yesterday at 10am CT.
-
I know, but it is true that I have a reputation for overreacting to stuff. The older I get, the more perspective I have on things.
-
What I meant was he communicated his thoughts several times and now it is getting old.
-
Come on now, I think you have made your point. You are getting to the point where you are badgering to get a response.
-
You guys hype every FBS win like you had beaten Alabama or Ohio State and you have the unmitigated gall to come on here and say our Wyoming win didn't mean anything? That is rich, my friend.
-
The D is on the field way too much. Eventually, they get worn down. Even after today, the D is one of the top five units in the league. And some of those young guys are going to get better with more game experience. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will this team.

I remember back in 1991 we got snubbed in favor of Mankato State and people were just livid. Well, we made the playoffs the next year and we turned the corner as a program in 1993. So that is where I am coming from on this. Were we screwed? Yes. Is it the end of the world? No.

Yeah, I have a history of histrionics (tongue twister for you there) on this forum. But I also believe in optimism when it is called for and I think this is a situation where things are more good than bad.

The franchise is going in the right direction, but they aren't quite there yet. The offensive line needs some serious upgrades in talent in the 2016 draft. They probably need to think about finding an eventual replacement for Peterson, who won't be around forever. A couple more wide receivers wouldn't hurt either. This team is getting better each year (5-10-1 in 2013; 7-9 in 2014; 7-3 so far in 2015). Spielman is drafting good and Zimmer is the best coach we've had since Grant (sorry, but Burns, Green, Tice, Childress and Frazier didn't do much for me). This season is also not over yet. I am still on the bandwagon and will always be. Skol Vikings!

Oh, I have zero problem with people venting on here. I just wanted to remind everybody of just how far we have come in two short years and what we have to look forward to. Was this a travesty of justice? Yes. Does it prevent us from continuing to build a championship program (and I am not talking just Big Sky titles, either)? No way. 2016 will be here before we know it and it will be well worth the wait.
