  1. Especially when it comes to the FCS playoffs!
  2. Yeah and the Browns are Super Bowl material next year!
  3. I agree 1000 percent! Fighting Hawks Hockey is an escape from all that baloney. So I promise not to poison the water!
  4. Me and my girlfriend will be there again this year.
  5. And I have laid out an alternative that would accomplish exactly what you are saying. And you pooh-poohed it because it isn't REA. Well, the world doesn't revolve around REA and this is one of those times.
  6. Hey, I have zero problem rotating it from city to city. What I have a problem with is Fargo getting it forever.
  7. You could probably make an argument to have all major tournaments in Fargo too, but that doesn't make it a good idea. And I believe that is the end game here. Look out Bismarck and Minot, they are coming for you next. Moving the tournament to Purpur is not as radical as some people on here make it sound. And I don't apologize for advocating for Grand Forks. This is my home and the home of UND and that means what is good for Grand Forks is good for UND.
  8. It is simply too big for this tournament. Add to that the lost revenue from the suite-holders getting in for free and the high rent and this is a no-brainer decision. And the only reason Scheels Arena is hosting the West Regional is because of the NCAA's asinine "neutral site" policy with regard to regional tournaments. If not for that, it would be at REA, where it would almost definitely sell out like it did in 2006.
  9. This is why moving the tournament to Purpur is a good idea. No suite-holders getting free tickets, much lower rent, better atmosphere, more excitement. Some people will grouse about not having it in REA, but it is just too big for this tournament.
  10. That basically means Fargo will be hosting all major tournaments at some point in the future. It's only a matter of time, that is the end game here. And hell hath no fury like western legislators scorned. I will repeat the suggestion I have already put forth: Move the tournament to Purpur and utilize Gambucci next door and the Eagles Arena for some of the consolation games. If Scheels Arena (which I have been in and am not all that impressed with) is good enough for this tournament, then Purpur should be able to as well. It used to host this tournament many years ago and the arena has been renovated several times, so it isn't run down. The Heraldo editorial on Saturday was spot-on with regard to what has to be done to keep the tournament in Grand Forks. And I hope some people in high places are taking this seriously.
  11. Then the Little 6 would be left out and the NCHC and WCHA would do it without them. The Little 6 needs to get over itself and drop this messiah complex; they are in no position to dictate anything.
  12. Why? Everyone would know at least one year in advance when and where it would take place. Or maybe NCHC and WCHA? Whatever happens, the current format is not sustainable for any of these leagues.
  13. All we need is one point. But I still want to sweep and maintain the momentum into the playoffs.
  14. I laughed harder than I have in a long time when I saw this comment! Well done!
  15. Well, somebody has to stick up for Grand Forks. Otherwise, all it would be is Fargo this and Fargo that. There is intelligent life north of Harwood, west of Casselton and south of Horace, even if the Imperial Cass County media likes to think otherwise. You continue to miss the point over and over again, but I will indulge you: Don't you think that 16 year old sophomore was getting tired of hearing how bad the west region was at hockey and how they would probably never win a state title again? Don't think that talk didn't go on, it did because some years it felt like it was true. But thankfully, it has turned out not to be true and the western teams are now very competitive with the east. And that is good for the sport. The kids from the west obviously have always worked hard and did their best to compete, but they were simply overmatched for many years (except for the occasional Minot team). And no, I don't think they felt like "embarrassments" when they got to the state tournament and didn't win a game. But it couldn't have been much fun for them to come up short year after year. That is all I was saying with my original comment and you turned it into some mythical vendetta against 16 year old hockey players from the west region. That is why what you were doing was trolling.
  16. Whatever happens, the conference tournaments cannot continue as they are. They are not sustainable in the long-term. The Big Ten needs to get over it's messiah complex with regard to college hockey; this isn't basketball or football. They are in no position to dictate terms about anything with regard to college hockey and they had better get over that and get used to that.
  17. He could take a redshirt year this year. I don't think he has used that up yet.
  18. A combined BTHC/NCHC/WCHA tournament at the Xcel Energy Center would be epic. I would pay good money to watch that action.
  19. I think they tweaked the rules so if you transfer from one high school to another, you have to sit out one year. Why else is Warroad struggling at boys hockey when they used to dominate Section 8A year after year?
  20. I believe he is trolling. Don't feed the beast.
  21. But didn't you hear? High school sports is all about the $$$$$ now! It's no different from college or professional sports! That's why Fargo needs to have all the high school tournaments! Next step is to pay the players and have free agency so the "market" can work it's magic! (extreme sarcasm) All sarcasm aside, I agree with you. Bismarck having an all-star team when there are enough kids to field three teams is absolutely ridiculous.
  22. Because...because...because...east coast bias?
  23. Okay, you are totally missing the point. But it's 1:00am Sunday morning and I have to get some sleep. Peace out.
