This doesn't surprise me that much. It is much harder to go from bad to good than it is to go from good to great. It took Roger Thomas six years to make the playoffs and seven to win a playoff game. And he started out with a similar mess to what Bubba started out with. Now, I don't think it is going to take Bubba six years to make the playoffs, as we have better facilities than we had in the late 1980's. But people should not be surprised that the team is still trying to learn how to win games, especially close games. That isn't going to happen as quickly as most of us would want. That next step is tricky and it might not happen until next season. But if Bubba continues to recruit well, we'll get there.

If the wind sticks around, I think any FGs are going to be difficult unless they are 20 yards or closer.
-
I didn't necessarily expect a win today......but I expected better than this. If this is what we will watch next week in the Potato Bowl, it's going to be a long season. Maybe Bubba needs to sit some guys and pull some redshirts to wake the team up.
-
Now it's time for our patented 3rd down pass.
-
So much for the pre-season buzz.
-
I don't care how good the defense is (and it is really good), but if they are on the field too much, they will wear down.
-
Way too predictable on offense. Run, Run, Pass, Punt. Rinse. Repeat. I could game plan against our offense because it's the same old crap week after week. And why are we always starting over on the O-Line every year? We better start hanging onto players or it will always be in a rebuilding phase.
-
But that's because of the tropical climate in Montana, right? At least that is what we have heard from some people on this forum.
-
One slight correction here.....Bubba wants this program to eventually get beyond winning conference championships....if you get my drift.
-
So SDSU can build a program that has reached the point where they won't hit the road for non-conference games, in a town much smaller than Grand Forks (Brookings), but we just can't do it? I say we hold Jones responsible for the on-court product and hold Faison responsible for the scheduling of our opponents. If MBB isn't getting the resources to do the job right, then that needs to change. If we want to be serious about being a Division I mid-major institution, the MBB program must be elevated to a similar level as NDSU and SDSU. At the rate we are going, USD will make the Big Dance before UND does.
-
This should be the motto for all our programs. Well said and well done.

Possibly you can not be such a smart-a$$.

I cannot stand either of these types of drivers.

I suppose we could do what Omaha does and have dirt roads. http://whkradio.com/news/articles/omahas-answer-to-pothole-complaints-a-new-dirt-road If Terry Bjerke had won the Mayoral race in June, this very well might have been the future of Grand Forks roads. Thank God he got thumped by 20 points.

Note to you.....I agree with you as I have season tickets to both teams. I just hate to see some people throwing in the towel after one freaking game. As for the second part of your comment, that is a problem that needs to be solved. We need to get people excited about FB again, like back in the early 2000's.
-
Listen to the tone of some of these posters. Some of them have mentally checked out of FB and are looking ahead to October 1st.
-
The thing is, we won't know how good SB is until four to five games in. Same thing with our team or any other.
-
It's one game. Man, a lot of people jumping off the ship already.
-
You mean USD. Big difference in quality there.

In Zimmer We Trust The Vikings will find a veteran to fill in for 2016 and will continue getting better on defense and in the running game behind a much better offensive line. Remember, Mike Tice isn't in charge anymore.

This is a fair point to bring up. However, the time for UND to drop FB would have been at the beginning of our transition, like Omaha did. Now with Bubba and his staff in charge and the program on the upswing, it isn't going to happen. I think the point people are making is that women's hockey doesn't have the future potential in terms of revenue and on-ice success that other programs on campus have.- 2,150 replies
