  1. My girlfriend visited from Brainerd last weekend and we watched most of the first season of The Sopranos. So I guess we can blame it on that!
  2. Why can't we do both? Is this yet another false choice being offered up by our fan base? If you want to be nice and conciliatory to them, then go right on ahead. But I was raised a fan of the Fighting Sioux and my blood runs Kelly Green and White and that means NDSU is persona non grata. Capisce?
  3. I have had friends who live in Fargo basically say the same thing I am saying. The hyperbole is off the charts down there. It isn't just "one fan".
  4. Part of the problem is that the U20 tournament is smack dab in the middle of hockey season (late December to early January) and people's minds were on hockey. It was over the holidays, so people were taking time off from work and schools were not in session. So you had a lot of people who could go and watch these games. The U18 tournament is in April. People are starting to focus on spring and summer activities (golf, fishing, biking, etc.). The NHL playoffs are on television, so people are staying home and watching that. Also, the Canadians don't care as much for the U18 tournament as the U20 tournament; the U20 in Canada is like the Super Bowl is in the United States. The reason it looked better in Fargo in 2009 was that Scheels is less than half the size of REA, so even if REA has drawn more people, it doesn't look like it because of how huge REA is. If we ever hosted the U20 again, I think it would be as successful as it was in 2005 because of what time of year it is held.
  5. If UND won 5 consecutive FCS football titles, I wouldn't be writing letters to Sports Illustrated complaining that Alabama was on the cover instead of UND. That is what one Bison fan did this year. That is how delusional they are in Imperial Cass County. And that is why hanging #8 is so sweet. For the first time in a long time, the positive press is not focused on Fargo and NDSU.
  6. Especially when your last natty (Wisconsin) was 10 years ago (2006).
  7. Why not rub their noses in it? They have been absolutely insufferable for 5+ years now, so forgive some of us for beating our chests and dancing in the end zone over hanging #8.
  8. Yet another reason for Nick to stay!
  9. How about we get rid of the freaking Anaheim (Not So Mighty) Ducks? I have always hated that team.
  10. Sure is more fun than riding the bus in the AHL.
  11. So he sits out one year and then plays in 2017-18? I wonder what he'll bring to the Bulldogs?
  12. This is a very good question and it would be cool if we did that.
  13. It should be simple. But for some people, it is not. Why else do you think some people run around wearing white hoods while they burn crosses in front of people's homes?
  14. You can listen to mom and dad all you want, but there is no substitute for real-life experience. And that is one of the things that college provides.
  15. It's the offseason, what else are we supposed to talk about? Talking about guys leaving school early fills only so much time and space on this forum. Once August rolls around, people will turn their attention to UND FB and Year 3 of Bubba's reclamation project. And then once October comes, it will be back to talking about hanging #9.
  16. UND (along with NDSU) is one of the most diverse places in the state. These two campuses, along with the reservations, are a few of the places where the population isn't 98% pale white. I don't think these budget reductions will change that.
  17. And that was his only losing season. One losing season out of 10 is pretty good. And he brought home a boatload of hardware along with that. 5 WCHA regular season titles. 2 WCHA playoff titles. And 2 NCAA titles. And most of those were won without the benefit of a $100 hockey palace and all the bells and whistles that went with it. Taking a shot at one of the most decorated coaches in program history was totally unnecessary, IMO.
  18. I never said I wanted him replaced, I just wanted one of his teams to get over the hump and hang another green banner. But even that is too negative for some people on this forum.
  19. That is a good problem to have! I think Berry's NCAA title in his first season will keep the wolves at bay for some time. I don't think Lucia would have survived some of those bad seasons in the late 2000's if he hadn't brought home national titles in 2002 and 2003. I don't expect any huge drop-offs for this program in the coming years.
  20. If that happens, then we make a coaching change (example: replacing Gino with Blais in 1994). But I don't see that happening and I don't get the implications from some people that this somehow will happen now that Hakstol is gone and Berry is in charge. I see no evidence of that happening. What is happening in Duluth does not have to happen here. And I don't think it will.
  21. I do not "hate" anyone, hate is much too strong of a word to use when talking about this particular issue. And no, I won't be calling for Berry's head if we have a down year; that can happen to any program at any time. But I don't really think that is going to happen with Berry in charge. If we ever do have a Mussman-style disaster at the head coaching position, then I'll be calling for a change. But again, I don't see that happening.
  22. Kudos to you for paying homage to the greatest comic strip of all time, "Calvin and Hobbes"!!!
