    I heard this refrain back in 1990 too. And look what happened after that. All programs have their ebbs and flows. When NDSU isn't this good (and it will happen, the law of averages says so), I want UND to fill the vacuum. If we don't step up, schools like SDSU and Northern Iowa will. Bubba and company need to roll up their sleeves this off-season and get us on the path to greatness. The sooner we start the process, the better.

    I would be nice to get at least 3 points and head into the holiday break in the hunt for the Penrose. The break should help our injured guys heal up so they are ready to roll come January.

    On a positive note (remember, we did win the game!), when this team skates and moves their feet, they are very dangerous. When they stand around and watch, they are putrid. Union did a lot of obstructing and WMU did as well. The difference between last week and this week is that our guys are using their speed to attack the net and force Western Michigan to try and keep up. Last week, we looked like we were on sedatives (Tryptophan?). I don't just want to win and sweep tonight. I want to bury these punks. This could be the beginning of an intense rivalry.

    This may have been the worst officiated game I have ever seen. And I am sick of Andy Murray's b!tching and moaning over every call that doesn't go his way. Let's sweep these punks tomorrow.

    Things never change and will always remain the same forever and ever.......... Um, no. Defeatism is not an option. I would rather drop FB than have a program that finishes 6-5 most of the time. Think big and you will go places. Think small and you will remain so.

    Nobody is suggesting UND sit around and hope NDSU slips. We should aim to knock them off their pedestal and contend for titles ourselves. But right now, other programs are catching up to NDSU. JMU beat them in the semis on the road and won the FCS title. They currently are on a 22 game winning streak. SDSU smoked them in Brookings this year. Their facilities are light years ahead of what they were 15 years ago and that will help them land talented kids. USD is having a great season; they possibly could build a perennial contender as well. I want UND to join those schools as FCS contenders. Saying it isn't possible because of almighty NDSU is defeatist thinking. And we can't have that.

    Based on this attitude, maybe we should drop FB? You don't just give up because the job is difficult and the goals tough to achieve. MH would never have become what it has become if we had adopted this attitude. We didn't always have a $104 million arena or all our home games on television. We got there with hard work and a positive attitude. If you have those, then good things will happen (not always as quickly as some people would like). NDSU will not be great forever. Don't fall for the propaganda coming out of Fargo. SDSU smoked them in Brookings this year. They lost to JMU in the semis at home last year; they are NOT invincible. Sports are cyclical. NDSU is not immune to that. Either we shoot for the stars or we stop investing time and money into the FB program. Period. #daybyday

    Even Bison fans thought we belonged in the playoffs in 2015. The committee screwed us over that year. That's a fact. And being a "borderline" playoff team in 2015 was just two years removed from Mussman's final season trainwreck (3-8). So I think that is one heck of a turnaround.

    You are correct. And I am willing to bet dollars for doughnuts that nobody here is happy about that. Like I said, if next year is more of the same old crap, I will be on your side on this.

    This is my basic position on Bubba, his staff and the program in general. I believe this year was a fluke. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. That isn't likely to happen next year and I think this team bounces back nicely. However, if next season is more of the same, I will be right there with UND-FB-FAN in questioning whether this regime will take us where we want to go. Only time will tell who is right and who is wrong. And if I am wrong, I will admit it and start calling for a change at the top. We are all anxious to put a national contender on the field, but we need to just sit back and watch what happens.
