Sorry, we aren't allowed to talk about that here. Because our coaches are never to blame for anything that doesn't go right (extreme sarcasm).
-
Chaves doesn't care about wins and losses. His decision-making since Kennedy brought him in prove that. Time for Armacost to prove he cares about athletics as a key part of our overall mission as an institution and replace Chaves with someone who holds both coaches and athletes to high standards.

Several years ago. I miss his theories and insights. -
Well, I still think it's worth giving a shot.

Fair enough.

That is what a message board is for. It's an online water cooler. If you are fine with things as they are, good for you. But I am not. And neither are a sizeable number of people on here. But by all means, go patronize the All Things Fighting Sioux Facebook group. Nothing but duckies and bunnies on there.

In a week, all our teams will be done for the season, so I figured I would throw something out there for us to chew on. -

Honestly, I wish there was a None of the Above option in the poll. None of those options sound great.

2024-25 ND High School Hockey

They might be more competitive at state if they did that. -
We are irrelevant nationally. That is the standard around here, fair or not. And that has to change. Because I don't want to have happen to us what happened with Wisconsin at the end of the Eaves era.

2024-25 ND High School Hockey

The only way this question would be answered is if Central and Red River merged their boys teams into the KnightRiders. -
With the high school hockey season completed on both sides of the Red River of the North, I figured I would put out an intriguing and completely outside the box idea. What if Grand Forks Central, Grand Forks Red River and East Grand Forks merged their programs into a conglomerate known as the Grand Cities Green Wave. We have seen high schools in the Red River Valley co-op with schools on the opposite side of the river before. But this would be taking that concept in a whole different direction. The team would play in Minnesota’s big school classification (Class AA), in Section 8AA. All games would have to be played in the EGF Civic Center, otherwise we couldn’t call it a Minnesota-based team. This would have different effects on two area teams: Warroad and Moorhead. Warroad would benefit from this, as their biggest obstacle to reaching St. Paul in March would be removed. Moorhead, on the other hand, would be damaged the most by this, as it would make their path to St. Paul in March much more difficult. The reaction from the rest of the “State of Hockey”? I think Edina would be knocked off their current pedestal as the most hated team in Minnesota. But it would be cool to watch Greater Grand Forks kids match their skills against the best Minnesota has to offer. Thoughts?

Like he does everyone else around here. I would hope he would have learned from the March 2024 extension of Bubba, which he had to eat 9 months later.

So that's it? Every coach is untouchable and has a de facto lifetime contract? Cripes, this athletic department has sunk into the mud of mediocrity and some people on here are actually okay with that. It truly is sad.
-
Then maybe it's time all of us start voting with our wallets.
-
I think we have much bigger problems to concern ourselves with.
-
Love the sarcasm! 😂
-
This entire athletic department needs a reboot. That means Chaves must go before all our programs finish in last place every year.
-
Time for a hard reset. New coaches across the board.
-
If we keep extending coaches to keep them from coaching in a lame duck year, they will basically have a lifetime contract. That is insane and completely unacceptable. Chaves needs to go. I am tired of his bull$h!t excuses for extending coaches who have poor track records. We moved up to Division 1 over 15 years ago. It's time we start taking it seriously. andrew.armacost@und.edu Please tell President Armacost that you are sick of the continued mediocrity and you want a renewed commitment to success in UND athletics.
-
But Chaves serves on all those important committees! And Chaves brought us those all important Alston Awards! (sarcasm) I am sick of being the laughingstock of the Dakotas. I am especially sick of being told there is nothing that can be done about it. Time for Armacost to shake things up.

All I can find is the extension he got two years ago through the end of next year (2025-2026).

This had better not be true.
