How long would Hakstol want to stick around this time? I really hope he doesn't stay too long like Gino and Berry did.

A lot of papers don't publish daily anymore. I think the Fargo Forum does the same thing.

Those are legitimate concerns. However, I think the right hire could mitigate some or most of this damage.

Schmidt left UND and learned under DeBoer. He's changing our defense for the first time since 1989. He's a much different coach than he was when he was defensive coordinator. Hiring Hakstol would be pushing the easy button, which is something you have justifiably criticized in the past. I'll say it again: National search. No more inbreeding.

That's basically the same as an internal hire. Which is the last thing we need. We have to think about the future of the program, not just the next 3 to 4 years.

Exactly. There is no point in recruiting skilled players if you aren't going to utilize their talents. And I think that might have been hurting us in recruiting in recent years.

We need to think younger and more aggressive. Someone who can relate more easily to 18 to 23 year Olds. Have to move forward, not backwards.
