Romfo better not have the starting job automatically again in 2025. If he can't make the throws an FCS QB needs to make to keep defenses honest, then I hope he doesn't still get the job strictly because of "completion percentage during practice".
Is NIL important? Yes.
Should UND push hard to grow the 1883 Collective? Definitely.
Should we have started our collective earlier? Absolutely.
But is NIL the end all and be all? No way.
I think it is important to point out that our issues as a program have nothing to do with NIL.
They have everything to do with Berry not being head coach material.
He was a good assistant coach, but he has shown he cannot handle the complexities of being in charge of a Division I hockey program.
It is time for a change.
I honestly don't care what she thinks.
It is high time we start broadening our donor base (for hockey and all other sports).
Relying on the whims of one donor is a bad idea, I don't care who her daddy was.
We are not going to become a plucky little mid-major in NCAA hockey.
It cannot be allowed to happen. It must not be allowed to happen.
You have already accepted it as an unchangeable fact; I never will accept it.
If we allow this to happen, we'll be no different than the athletic department of an HBCU.
Except this weekend is best 2 out of 3.
And no, this isn't good at all. I don't want to end up like Wisconsin; they are still trying to fix the mess Eaves left.
This is the most outrageous thing about Chaves.
When I say UND athletics is being run like a high school, this is what I am referring to.
If wins and losses don't matter, then you are running your programs like a high school.
Their contracts expire after next season. It isn't like the Bubba situation where he had just received a contract extension 9 months earlier.
I imagine the basketball coaches don't make anything close to what Berry makes.
It is entirely possible changes are being worked on behind the scenes. There were no hints of the Bubba resignation before it happened.
Why? Because all those programs are sol-id?
Their contracts expire after next season. They have clearly not earned long contract extensions. Why should they get a de facto lifetime contract?
This entire athletic department needs a hard reset. Not more of the same.
