Is NIL important? Yes. Should UND push hard to grow the 1883 Collective? Definitely. Should we have started our collective earlier? Absolutely. But is NIL the end all and be all? No way.

No, it is not cooked. We've been in far worse shape before (most of the 1970's, early 1990's). I just want to avoid going down that road again.

I think it is important to point out that our issues as a program have nothing to do with NIL. They have everything to do with Berry not being head coach material. He was a good assistant coach, but he has shown he cannot handle the complexities of being in charge of a Division I hockey program. It is time for a change.

What efforts are being made to court potential NIL donors to the collective? I really hope the answer isn't "little to none".

I honestly don't care what she thinks. It is high time we start broadening our donor base (for hockey and all other sports). Relying on the whims of one donor is a bad idea, I don't care who her daddy was.

This is the most outrageous thing about Chaves. When I say UND athletics is being run like a high school, this is what I am referring to. If wins and losses don't matter, then you are running your programs like a high school.

Their contracts expire after next season. It isn't like the Bubba situation where he had just received a contract extension 9 months earlier. I imagine the basketball coaches don't make anything close to what Berry makes. It is entirely possible changes are being worked on behind the scenes. There were no hints of the Bubba resignation before it happened.

Why? Because all those programs are sol-id? Their contracts expire after next season. They have clearly not earned long contract extensions. Why should they get a de facto lifetime contract? This entire athletic department needs a hard reset. Not more of the same.
