  1. Our November/December schedule definitely has tested this team. We have played 15 games so far and 8 of those games have been against teams currentl ranked no lower than 12. And now we play the Huskies who are currently ranked 5th! I don't mind a loaded schedule like this early. Prepares the team for the grind of the NCHC and really tests them mentally and physically against good teams. Will definitely payoff come conference and national tournament time.
  2. Well that's the other thing. Was he sick? Who knows!!
  3. One has to think how much the decision to sit Weah and not bring him to the Southern Illinois game played a part into the decision. Not saying it was the only factor, but that may have caused a rif between him and the coaches that maybe he couldn't get over. He was sick all week and the coaches said that by the time he was healthy, it was too late to fit him into the gameplan. Weah seemed to be just fine on Saturday because he attended a Moorhead High School football game that day. I never really understood the decision to not play Weah that game if he was healthy. Not too hard to plug your All American RB into the mix after 4 days of missed practices. Also, he didn't play against Drake because he missed a team meeting. I don't mean to dog on Weah, but there are definitly some character issues there. Part of me thinks how much he really wants to be here. I guess we now know the answer.
  4. That would have made for a pretty crazy day!!! Maybe UND should always schedule the Minnesota games in GF for Thanksgiving weekend just for that opportunity!!
  5. Thanksgiving weekend. Happens every year. If the Bison played a playoff game on Thanksgiving weekend, they would probably have 12,000. Is what it is.
  6. I assume we are wearing the new Nodak jerseys this weekend.
  7. Guys, we DID make the playoffs!! Pretty good seed for a 5-6 team!!
  8. Well, I think a split against a top 5 team as short handed as the team was it a good weekend. Great response tonight.
  9. 7 of our Valley games were one score games. We won 2 of those. That is the difference.
  10. 3-1 to start the season. Keep rollin!!
  11. If the verdict surprises or shocks you, you didn't watch the trial and/or you need better news sources.
  12. Sweep at home, split on the road is always the goal. But is this a series where getting at least 3 points is considered a "good" weekend?
  13. What I want to happen is for the University and all of its athletics programs to be proponents of the Fighting Hawks name and logo. Most importantly for the REA to be as well. Do the things that I mentioned in my post above. I get that there are fans that are going to hold out and likely never support the Fighting Hawks name/logo. But the hockey program is a part of UND and they are the Fighting Hawks hockey team. Berry needs to lead the charge on that. Much like Bubba did day one, hour one when the logo was revealed. When all athletic programs use the Fighting Hawks logo and wear it proudly and our most prominent program is reluctant to do the same, that is a problem.
  14. The biggest problem isn't that there are fans that are not accepting of the new name/logo and are still holding strong to the Sioux name/logo; It's that the REA and the hockey program are leading the charge on the issue. Should the REA have to Fighting Hawks logo at center ice? Yes. Should the hockey team have a jersey that says "Hawks" on it? Yes. Should coaches refer to the team as Fighting Hawks hockey as well as North Dakota hockey? Yes. Should the REA have waited another 18 months to renovate their locker room until the new logo was released to incorporate it in the remodel? Yes. But unfortunately the answer to these questions is no. So the frustration really is about the REA and the hockey programs hesitancy to embrace the Fighting Hawks name/logo and the and that encourages fans to do the same. Releasing a new jersey with a name that isn't even our nickname just proves it even more. And the AD and UND President don't seem to think its and issue is what is most frustrating.
  15. The Sioux name and logo are gone. If you want to go to your grave with all this hatred toward the Fighting Hawks name and log so be it. I get it. You don’t like the name and logo. You wish it was still the Fighting Sioux. Me too!! Loved the name and logo. But you need to let go man. All this hatred towards something as simple as a logo and name seems unnecessary. You don’t have to love the new name and logo. But can you at least just accept that it is what is just come to a realization that it is what it is and we will be living with the name and logo for likely the rest of our lives. The sooner you accept that, the better off you will be.
  16. That's your opinion, which is fine. But that doesn't change the FACT that UND will be the Fighting Hawks likely for the rest of your life. So if you want to die on the hill of "I will never support the name and logo of the University I cheer for" that's your decision. I, as well and many others, have moved on.
  17. Any given Saturday!!! Who thought the Yotes were gonna beat them last week!!! Might as well do the same!
  18. Might not be as bad as you think.
  19. What's that???!!! MBB does not have it on their jersey. But as you can see below, their warmups do.
  20. On this date exactly 6 years ago, it was officially announced that "Fighting Hawks" would be the new nickname for the University of North Dakota. Ironically yesterday, the hockey team revealed a new alternate home jersey with "NODAKS" on the front of it. Yet another example of the hockey program's resistance to accepting the new name and logo. Actually adopting a name that finished 3rd in initial voting. I have been a proponent of accepting the Fighting Hawks name and logo from the day each was announced. Pretty much every other athletic program at UND has embraced the new name and logo and displayed it on their jerseys, warmups, etc. Except for the hockey program. Yes I know, the logo is on the shoulder of the jerseys. Besides the two banners and the shoulder of the jersey, you won't see the hockey program, REA, etc show any support for the Fighting Hawks name and logo. It's embarrassing. So my question is why is that? Why has the Athletic Department at UND allowed the hockey program to reject the name and logo while other programs have embraced it? Pressure from the REA? Worried about funding being cutoff from the Engelstad foundation? Worried about offending the die hard "Hockey only" "Sioux Forever" crowd? Why don't we have a Fighting Hawks logo at center ice? Why hasn't the REA replaced the Sioux logos on the outside of the building with Hawks logos? Why did the REA locker room get renovated with an expiring interlocking ND logo right before a new logo was announced? Why does almost every apparel the hockey team/coaches wear not have the Hawks logo on it and it just says "North Dakota hockey?" Why doesn't Brad Berry ever refer to the team as the Fighting Hawks? Why does Hennesy rarely refer to the team as the Hawks? It's been frustrating these last 6 years watching every program but our most prominent one accept the Fighting Hawks as our new name and logo. Seeing a new jersey come out with an alternate name once again avoiding the Hawks name was just another sad example. IF only there was another 5 letter name they could have put non the jersey...I don't know, maybe our actual nickname and not some nickname that was rejected by voters. OK, that is my rant. I think the new jerseys look great. If they would have said HAWKS on the front instead of NODAK, they would have been a 10 in my book. But being reminded once again of the hockey program, and many of the fans, simply will not let go of the Sioux name and embrace just a little bit the Fighting Hawks name continues to frustrate myself and many other fans as well.
  21. 100% agree. I wonder if we will ever see Hawks on a jersey or the logo on the front. I’m not holding my breath.
