  1. Not earned enough for a home and home? How bout we have played 110 times for over a centruy!! I suppose at least 50 of those were in Grand Forks!! Yes we have had some down years, but so has NDSU. Do you remember 2009 when NDSU was 3-8??? Remember?? Wow...I guess NDSU fans really do have a short memory!!
  2. I am not anti nickname and I am voting YES on June 12th. I agree with you that the SBHE, UND officials, etc could have done more. But it is too late. If we vote to keep the name, it is not going to change the minds of the NCAA. We had a delegation from UND visit Dr. Emmert (NCAA President) to discuss the new law passed. He siad that it did not mean anything because of the legally binding settlement UND signed. We had till December 2010. That time has passed. Didn't get approval from both tribes. So if the vote goes down on June 12th to keep the name, what do you think the NCAA is going to do? They said we can keep the name...but if we do, we will suffer sanctions. I an sure you are well aware of them so I won't repeat them. These santions have already started of affect UND's atheltic program. I am totally in support of the Fighting Sioux name and all it stands for. I totally think it was wrong in 2005 for the NCAA to make their ruling. I want UND to keep the name. But not at the cost it is going to be to keep it. You need to realize that most of us that are saying to vote YES love the nickname and do not think it is wrong by any means. But we are doing what is best for the University of North Dakota. You need to realize the ramifications of keeping the name right now. 4 years ago their were no ramifications. Today there is. Its to late. If we want to be a member of the NCAA, we have to follow their rules. I know its a raw deal, but its the hand we are dealt.
  3. I am talking about your opinion on whether or not the game should be scheduled. It is misguided and arrogant.
  4. I agree with you!! It is pretty apparent that you share the the same opinion of other misguided, arrogant Bison fans out there!!
  5. Oh, so now that you have won a National Championship, no opponent you schedule will mean more to you than the other team. Really? Do you think other defending champions, like Southern Utah, Richmond, Montana, etc, share the same viewpoint? You win a Championship and all of a sudden all other teams have to worship NDSU and beg them for just a chance to be on the same paying field. The arrogance by you and other NDSU fans is unbelievable.
  6. Good thing you are in the minority. Guess what, this game, this rivalry is bigger than your opinion or the opinion of some misguided Bison fans.
  7. Yeah, I get it. You hate UND. Don't want to "help" them in any way. Guess what, UND does not absolutely need this game. We don't have scheduling issues now since we have 8 gauranteed conference games a year. If we need help finding another FCS game, we can loom to the other Big Sky teams that we don't play in a particular year and play the, (Portland St for example). We don't need this game. But as a fan, I would much rather play a game against NDSU than Portland state or even Montana and time.
  8. We get it, you don't care about UND. That is why you have 239 post on a UND sports website and have over 200 posts in the Football category.
  9. Why would App St., Montana, MT State, Georgia Southern schedule NDSU? They would only be helping them by having them play prestigious programs like that. It will be a bigger game NDSU, they need it more!! They will benifit more from the game! You see how rediculous that sounds when you put the shoe on the other foot??
  10. NDSU is a better team right now...yes I agree. But guess what..they will not always be the #1 ranked team in the country. I know right now it is hard for Bison fans to grasp that concept. As we all know, many Bison fans have a short memory. Hey, remember in 2009 when you guys won 3 games? That wasn't 20 years ago. that was 3 years ago! And guess what, the game is scheduled for 3 years from now!! Believe it or not, NDSU could be a 3 win team in 2015!! You can't deny that this is a possiblity because it happened just 3 short years ago!! And guess what, there have been many years where UND has had a better team than NDSU as well!!
  11. Teams gain notority and respect from beating better teams. You think people would even care about Boise State had they not beaten Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl? Do you think that the majority of the country knew who Appalacian State was before they beat Michigan in the Big House? Take NDSU..they weren't a huge FCS powerhouse right away. they were the new kid on the block. But guess what, they beat FBS teams like Central Michagan and Minnesota. Once they did that, they got the respect they were looking for. I am not saying that NDSU playing UND is like Michigan playing Appalacian State. The point I am making is NDSU fans are acting like scheduling UND is like a charity game where we are gaining so much buy it, and NDSU has everything to lose. Minnesota scheduled NDSU 3 times in the past. so did Colorado State this year. Do you think their fanbases were saying "NDSU doesn't deserve to play us. They have more to gain out of this game than we do." Seriously, your "holier than though" attitude that you and other on this site have is sickening!
  12. "Its almost comical how upset UND fans get when they realize NDSU has moved on from them", "NDSU doesn't care about this game nealry as much as UND does": You say these things, but here you are on a Sioux sports message board talking about it!! And guess what, there are plenty of Bison fans that post on this message board several times EVERY DAY who say that Bison fans have moved on. Actions speak louder than words my friend. And just to let you know, you are in the minority when saying this game shouldn't be played.
  13. If you werre a Bison fan, wouldn't you be chomping at the bit to play UND? If you are soo pissed off at the fact UND said that the Bison were not going to succeed in D1 and you believe that you are the superior program, wouldn't you want to prove that on the field? Wouldn't you want the Bison to play UND and have a chance to just take it to them and beat them by like 40? If you were a Bison fan, wouldn't you want to hang the score over every UND fans head for 2 years? I just don't understand why Bison fans are coming up with all these reason like financially it won't work, or they don't want to help UND. How bout instead of thinking of all the reasons why NDSU shouldn't play UND and look like a coward, you get excited to kick the snot out of UND!! Because that is exactly what us UND fans are going to want our team to do to you!!!
  14. That's the problem with a lot of the NDSU fans, students in particular. They were in elementary school when this game was played last. They really have no idea of how great of a game this was year after year. To them playing UNI and SDSU are more important because the are familiar. All of us who grew up seeing this rivarly know how bif this game was for BOTH schools. The "They need this game more than we do" attitude is pathetic. Get off your high horse and come out of the clouds. I have a feeling reality will hit NDSU fans when UND has success in FCS and in the Big Sky.
  15. However it went down, it is all irrelevant now. Spirit Lake and Standing Rock could have a vote tomorrow and vote 100% to keep the name. The NCAA is not going to change their minds. UND signed a legally binding settlement. The dealdling is up. The ramifications of keeping the name are here. Whatever happened at Standing Rock doesn't matter now.
  16. We all love the Fighting Sioux name and all it has stood for of the University of North Dakota. None of us here want to see the name go. Like 82SiouxGuy said, we have all come to the acceptance that keeping the name would eventually harm the athletic department. Whether it was 2 years ago when the deadline for approval ended, when the law was passed, when the delegation met with the NCAA last summer, whenever: those of us who can see the writing on the wall have accepted the fact that the name must be retired. Is it worth fighting to the end....sure. Dave, Fetch, etc are passionate about their views. I was once there too. I hear ya. But you have to understand that their are penalties and great risks in keeping the name. Not hosting playoff games...thats not a threat. It's reality. If the football team goes undefeated and is the #1 ranked team in the country, they will be playing all their games on the road. Ask NDSU if home field advantage is a big deal!! The Big Sky conference does not absolutely need us. Its not lie we are a longstanding member. We are not even an official member yet. If the Big Sky decides they don;t want us...we are a D1 independent. Then we will have scheduling nightmares. Remember the teams we played in all non hockey sports....that is what our schedules will look like without a conference. These threats are real. If the Big Sky kicks us out because of issues with the name, what conference is going to want to bring that in to their conference. Those are REAL consequences. Recruits are going to be hesitant to play for a school that has the the word SANCTIONS next to it. Recruiting will pay the price. These are real issues that all of us that are voting YES on June 12th have learned and accepted will happen with the continues use of the name. We can always honor the Fighting Sioux name forever. But to do what is good for the University and its athletics, we have to accept that our continued fight is not worth the eventual outcomes. Voting Yes on June 12th does not mean that I am against the Fighting Sioux name. It means that the teams I cheer and the University they represent are more important than my selfish desires to keep the name I have cheered for my entire life.
  17. I have ZERO respect for any NDSU fan who is going to vote NO just to harm the UND athletic department. I am sure there a re many Bison fans who have just loved seeing this all play out and hope that this vote goes through to keep the name. If you are going to vote NO on measure 4 just to see your rival suffer, that is just awful. I would compare it to if UND was playing a game (whether against NDSU or not) and an NDSU fan was cheering for our best athelete on the team to get injured. Now you can always cheer against a team to lose...that's find. But when you cheer for that team to suffer injury, then you are just a heartless fan. I would deffinitely say that is what you are doing here Johnyboy. I never had much respect for you before, but now I have absolutely ZERO respect for you. You can cheer against our school all you want. But to cheer for the destruction of its athletic department just for your amusement and entertainment is dispicaple. Shame on you and your other Bison idiot buddies who feel the same way.
  18. I think the best look would be black jerseys, green pants with a black stripe or something, and green helmets. Still want to keep green in there. It is our primary color. Coming up with a "black out" uniform for big games like Montana and NDSU that has black pants, jerseys, and helmets would be pretty sweet!!
  19. Anyone read this on Siouxinsider blog?? http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/2012/05/14/start-of-summer/ Black Jerseys for all home games!!! Yes!!!!!!! Please be true!!
  20. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/236628/group/Sports/ The rich get richer!! This team is looking pretty good!!
  21. Oh please oh might NDSU, we are just a poor little school who would please like to play you sir. I hope we can prove our worth in the next couple years so we can be deemed a worthy adversary!! Give me a break!!! We have played over a hundred games spanning over a century!! This game was the biggest game on both schedules for years. There is not other FCS opponent that would create as much buzz and excitement than UND. Absolutely none!! But you are right. You would much rather bring in powerhouse teams like Robert Morris and Prairievie A&M. Curios to hear what they have done to prove they deserve to play you? I didn't know the standards were so high to merit a game with NDSU!! The arrogance of some of you Bison fans is rediculous!!! If you are going to have these"el;ite standards" for who you will play or not, you will experience scheduling nighmares because no one will want to play you because you won't do a home and home deal!! Get over yourself and just look at what this game is. It is UND/NDSU!! 110 games we have played each other. A little history there. We can play in any other sport and create a little buzz, but nothing comes close to UND v. NDSU football!!
  22. Well, now wait a second....... http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/361015/group/Sports/
  23. Apparently there are mised feeling about this game on Bville!! Many are saying that scheduling this game is dumb. They list reasons about losing a home game, and not making enough money on it, etc. Seriously...this is UND/NDSU!!! This was the biggest game of the year EVERY YEAR!!! I would think most Bison fans would want this game so they can prove they are better instead of just arguing it on message boards! But I suppose for them it is a lose/lose like the basketball game was this year!!
  24. How bout the new Vikings Stadium!!!
  25. This will definitely be the toughest ticket to get in the history on North Dakota sports!! With 12000 season ticket holders at NDSU, 4000 students, that leaves only 1000-2000 tickets available!!! I hope to get my hands on a ticket...but man, its gonna be tough!!! But whether I watch it live or on TV, I will just be happy the game is being played...finally!
