  1. The problem with The last 2 years is the team had tons of experience with a group of guys that had been in the program for a few years and had considerable pplaying time. These guys had tons of talent and yet they could only get around a .500 record their Junior and Senior years. Sure they advanced to the tournament championship this game this year, but they deffinitely underachieved. This team was supposed to be a team that was going to win 20+ games, win some road games against some good competition, and make a tournament appearence. They failed to do any of that. Now was that all Jone's fault? Maybe. Or was it the ego of these Seniors thinking they were gonna be good and thought they were entitled to winning the Sky and making the tournament. Next year will be a very telling year for Jones future here. He won't have Huff to drop 20 points for him a night. He won't have an experienced PG in Anderson. And the rest of the guys that are leaving. 2014-2015 will be the season that either earns him a contract extension, or gets let go.
  2. How long is Jones current contract? Every articcle I look up shows his contract thru the 2014-2015 season with options to extend that for another 2 years after that. If Jones and UND struggle this year, I would guess Faison would have the option to not extend the contract and let him go as opposed to firing him and paying out his contract. Do I have things right here?
  3. Yeah, but now Ahelegbe has to live in Vermillion. Step down if you ask me!!
  4. Those Bison fans (especially on Bisonville) They sure are experts in college hockey aren't they!!
  5. If the title of the rankings is "Storied Programs", you have to have Michigan at the top. Granted, the mojority of their titiles were in the 50's and 60's, Just look at the number of NCAA tournaments appearences and final 4 appearences they have. Also 9>everyone else!! Not trying to a big Wolverine homer, but as far as storied programs go, they are at the top. As far as the rest of the top 5, UND, BC, MN, WI are deffinitely the other 4 in the the top 5 storied programs. The other 4 can be debated as far as order goes, but Michigan probably has to be #1.
  6. The problem with firing a coach is the decision to do so has to be justified. To the coach being fired to the fanbase. I think we can all agree that Muss' firing was justufied. One needed to only look at this last season. But with Jones it's a little different. I agree that finishing with a record around .500 is deffinitely not something to brag about. Now of course we all know that UND has finished 3rd and 2nd respectively in their first 2 years in the Big Sky. Now did UND and Jones take advantage of a weak conference with their conference record to finish that high? Of course. But you are not going to fire a coach with a winning record the last 2 seasons and finishing in the top 3 of an 11 team conference. I will agree that continued mediocrity will probably not earn him a contract extension. The senior class that he has relied on over the past 4 years is gone. LEts see what he can do with these new guys.
  7. College Hockey News‏@chnews40m early top 10 for 2014-15 1. Minnesota 2. N. Dakota 3. Michigan 4. BC 5. Miami 6. Providence 7. Union 8. Minnesota St. 9. Colgate 10. Maine
  8. Too early to make predictions for the Top 5? I think the top 3 are pretty obvious!!
  9. Everyone says we need to pay our coaches more. Well that's great if you are the coach, but I believe that you have to earn that pay increase. Has Jones done eb nough at UND to keep his job....a couple GW Tournament titles and 2 top 3 finishes in the Big Sky....I would say so. HAs he done enough to earn a pay raise? I don't think so. .500 records aren't gonna make you $175,000 a year. Win a Big Sky regular season or Tournament Champioship, then you can start talking about raises.
  10. A simple response to any ".6" smack from a gopher fan.....7-4.
  11. I think that Rau and Gaudreau are all but gone. I have a gut feeling Rocco will be back based on the character of the guy and the way this season ended. Of course this is just wishful thinking I suppose!!
  12. Been to a couple game there. There are shuttles that run from a couple places. Not as many as in GF. Of course that would most likely change if we are there. Lookinf forward to the possibility of playing a regional game there. Talk about intimate atmoshpere!! That place would be rediculous when we scored. Bring back some Old Ralph type atmoshperes!! When are tickets on sale!!!
  13. Coming thru in the cluth once again. I think we all needed a little positivity today. Thanks Dave!!
  14. I spend most of the night and this morning thinking about and evaluating last nights heartbreaking loss. All I kept thinking about was, oh great, another semifinal loss in the Frozen Four. But after thinking about the other losses in the Frozen Four, for some reason, this one doesn't sting as much. And it should since it was against the Gophers. Our biggest rival. But as the morning goes by, it doesnt. Getting beat by a Michigan team when we were clearly the better team sucked. Getting our butts handed too by BC 6-1 sucked. Shoot, losing to Denver in the Regional Championship 1-0 with Parise and Bochenski in a season where we won 30 games was almost a worse loss. Yes this loss was to the Gophers. A rival. The biggest one. But it is somehow nat as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe it because this team over exceeded expectations. We were in last place at thanksgiving. We were a period away against CC from losing that game and not even making the Frozen Faceoff and having our season end. We were 5 mins away from not making the playoffs when Sconi was down 2 goals. We weren't supposed to beat Wisconsin since they had one of the beat goalies in the country and a 1 seed. We were outplayed by Ferris state but Gothberg stole that game and we scored in double OT. The Gophers are a rival and they say you can throw out the record books when you play a rival. But in this case versus Minnesota, they were the clear favorites. Had they won 5-1, it wouldn't have surprised me. We played them better than anyone has all year. No one had shut them out in the first two periods except last night. Did we have our chances to win , sure. But the Gophers got a lucky bounce and won. In a game where Minnesota had the advantage in almost every category, we hung with them when yet again, no one was giving us a chance. We should be standing up and applading these guys for what they have accomplished this year. I am not trying to call this a moral victory. This was a season that we were almost left for dead and this team had the will, determination, and pride to fight back and get better. Many teams would have not had the resolve this team did. They would have called the season a loss and finished 500 and starting looking towards next year. One thing that we can always appreciate about Sioux hockey teams is their determination and their never give up attitude. Sure sometimes it takes a a loss to St Lawrence at home to get that fire going, but they always seem to finally get that. Sure I hate losing to the Gophers. It sucks we lost in the semifinals. But, every person who has ever cheered for the Univerity of North Dakota hockey team should be pround of not only this team, but every team that we see skate year in and year out. I am glad that I am a fan of this team. Couldn't imagine ever cheering for anyone else. Proud to be a Sioux fan whether we win a NAtional Championship, or lose in the final secon in the Frozen Four to our biggest rival. Sioux fan for life....not just something we hashtag at the end of our posts. We as Sioux fans mean it.
  15. Alright. I think we could all use a little positivity. Someone want to break down what next years team will look like? Who do we have coming in. Who are our the studs coming back. Never too soon to get excited for next season!!
  16. You can't help but be proud of this Sioux team. From where they were in November to barely squeezing into the frozen Faceoff and the postseason. These guys played with passion and heart tonight. Even though we lost, you got to applaud these guys for the way they left it all on the ice and gave the Gophers all they had.
  17. You beat me too it. If Jason Blake were on any other team we played, he woudl be hated more than anyone. But because he was a Sioux, we love him!!
  18. This is how it might go.. NACC - "We are here to talk to you girls about the insensative and offensive sign you hung from your house the second week of April. We think it is not appropriate to blame us Native Americans for removing the nickname that is used by UND." GPB - "We weren't talking about you. We were talking about the NCAA." NACC - "Oh......ok....well then.......this completes the training. Have a nice day."
  19. If the summer consists of purchasing 2014 National Championship merchandise, it's not gonna be that dark!!
  20. Don't forget one of the all time hated Gophers of all time, David Spehar!!
  21. The video on the ice was awesome!! Deffin itely makes the laser show look old and outdated. Someone send this to the powers that be at the Ralph! How sweet would it be at the home opener if the entire ice sheet was a video of UND winning their 8th National Championship!!!
