  1. Wait.....Did Lucia say he didn't want it?!!
  2. Wow. what an idiotic statement. There is no policy banning the use of "animals Native Americans deem to be sacred" by the NCAA. We are talking about specific native american imagery. The symbol of the Thunderbird that they used is one that is specifically tied to Native Americans. The designer even said that. Google "native american thunderbird" and you can see for yourself. You are really reaching here!!
  3. I'll take that bracket against those 3 chowda heads!!
  4. So let's say St Cloud stumbles down the stretch here and drops down to a 2 seed and we stay as a 1 seed. Does the committee put UND, St Cloud, and Minnesota (if they make it) in the St Paul regional? Would be one heck of a regional!!!
  5. Think of when the WJC was in Grand Forks. It was THE event going on. Not saying the Frozen Faceoff is as big as the WJC by any means, but if you had it in Sioux Falls, it would be a pretty big event for the city. In a city the size of Minneapolis, it kind of gets lost in the shuffle. Especially with a similar tournament being played across the river at the same time. I think the city of Sioux Falls would embrace the Frozen Faceoff and turn it into a pretty successful event. Especially considering it would be held at the brand new Stanford Center.
  6. I guess it's not just the 3rd verse of "Hail the Bison" that is offensive!!
  7. These guys are a little late to the party. Or were they on the list of companies that submitted a bid?
  8. I don't care what type of fan you want to associate as being or are being labeled as. This concept really isn't that hard to understand. Booing the Fighting Hawks name is not good for the University and its Athletic programs. Don't boo the name of the school you cheer for. How hard is this to understand?!!!
  9. ND State Tournament permanent location proposal: Hockey - Grand Forks Football - Fargo Class A Basketball - Bismarck Class B Basketball - Minot Every major city gets a major sport state championship. Everyone is happy.
  10. Is the turf permanent in the HPC or can it be rolled up? I am assuming it can be. Just have never seen any pictures of the completed building without the turf. Just wondering.
  11. Only thing worse than a "hockey only" fan is a "cheer for NDSU in the playoffs because it is good for the state" fan!!
  12. Embracing the Fighting Hawks name does not make you less of a Sioux fan. It does not mean you agree with the NCAA and their position on NA nicknames. It does not mean that you are forgetting the history of UND had with the Sioux tribes. It does not mean you are trying to erase the history of the great Sioux Nation. It does not mean that you have to throw away all of your Sioux apparel and merchandise. It does not mean that you will like the name as much as the Fighting Sioux. What is does mean is you are choosing to accept the past and everything that has happened these last 10 plus years and recognize that the Fighting Sioux name is not going to be the nickname for UND ever again and that the Fighting Hawks name is here to stay. Like I said. It does not mean you have to forget the history and pride that went along with it. We all as UND fans don't need yet another thing to be fighting over. These past 10 years have been yough for everyone involved. Now that we have a name and soon to be logo, you annot argue that it is in the best interest to embrace the Fighting Hawks name and move forward.
  13. Well then I guess it comes down to what is more important to UND. Making a quick buck, or making the rebranding process of your athletic teams successful.
  14. If UND wants to have people accept the new nickname and logo and purchase new Fighting Hawks merchandise, they should avoid making apparel products that will hurt sales of Fighting Hawks apparel. I assume they can sell anything with the Sioux logo on it to fulfill the trademark laws, just has to be sold in stores for people to buy. My point is UND should not be worried about making money on these Dakotah Legacy Collection items. They should be concerned with just meeting the trademark requirements by selling as few and leeast profile items (not apparel) as possible.
  15. http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/our-opinion/3951477-our-opinion-und-selling-fighting-sioux-merchandise-not-problem "And no, the question of the best way to lawfully keep that commercial mark is unsettled. Maybe it must be featured on merchandise on occasion. But maybe there are even lower-key ways, which Schafer's office now is trying to find." IF UND wants any chance of being successful rolling out a new nickname and logo, this strategy is going to be their best option. Produce items that are not going to be as visual to the general public. If you want a new nickname and logo to be accepted, producing new sweatshirts and hats of the old one is not going to help that. Make keychains, towels, stickers, etc. Producing these items would still fit the requirements of legally keeping the trademark without flooding the market with additional apparel being sold with the old logo.
  16. Completely agree. At the Alerus, you can come to the game, get something to eat, have a beer, etc and you can guarantee it will be a calm cool 72 degrees. At Memorial, you have no food or beverages, you are sitting on a metal bleacher, using porta potties, and it could be windy or raining. Die hard fans will be there no matter where it is at. But for the casual fan looking to watch a scrimmage, it may be a tough sell. UND football has a hard enough time getting people to show up to regular season conference games, let alone a Spring scrimmage!!
  17. Gophers need to win 3 (maybe just 2) games in March at the B1G Tourney and they are in. If I was a betting man, I'd take the Gophers. Wild have a lot more work to do than that.
  18. It needs to be defined. I agree that UND needs to be the owners of the trademark and to do that must produce items from time to time to sell to retain that trademark. Shafer needs to find out what the law states about the amount and frequency it must be produced. This should not be about making money. This is about retaining legal rights to a trademark.
  19. Sorry if I hurt peoples feeling with this comment, but selling the least amount of merchandise as little as they have to is the option that Schafer and UND need to do. If the goal of the University is in fact to market the new name and logo with UND and move forward, that is the best option that they must do.
  20. We got beat twice by a team that played better. Still tied for first in the NCHC. We are a lock for the NCAA's and are currently positioned as a 1 or 2 seed. Things could be a lot worse right now. This team maybe needed a little gut check down the stretch to show what it takes to win when facing a little adversity. Reflect and move on. Need to take care of business against Duluth at home. (stating the obvious, I know.)
  21. If UND signs a deal with Adidas to be the exclusive provider for apparel, then that is the way its gonna be. If the basketball team doesn't like it, who cares. Is a player going to quit the team, give up their scholarship, and give up there stipend just because they don't like Adidas shoes? I highly doubt it.
  22. I home SME will produce a logo that uses all of the same colors that were in the Brien logo. Doesn't necessarily have to have the same feathers (although I don't see why not). By using all the same colors (brown, green, yellow, red, white, black) from the old logo. it will help people adapt more easily to the new logo.

    2016 Season

Your point has been made. As well as the other Bison fans who post on this site...over and over and over and over and over and over again. NDSU football is good. UND football is bad. How many different ways can you make that point?
