Bucci seemed to love them!!

When the new logo is revealed, you can either tip toe the rollout of using it or you can flood the market and embrace it full on and put it all over everything. I think UND is smart and will do the later. UND needs to stop being worried about offending the "Sioux Forever " crowd and just embrace it 100% and throw it all out there.

I am definitely celebrating this Championship like everyone else. I just wish the hockey people at UND would not be so afraid to offend the "Sioux Forever" fanbase (which is mostly hockey fans) and call this team, and others, by our new nickname. During the rally last night, there was zero reference of "Fighting Hawks." Now I can see why they might have stayed away from using it as many would have booed or jsut started a "Let's Go Sioux" chant. But if the President, AD, and coaches can't even say the name of our new nickname, then there is zero chance that UND will ever transition to a new nickname. People can resist change. But those people shouldn't be the ones that are supposed to support it.

Wow. How many NHL teams can make that claim?!!

So there is a a lot of talking about what is to be done with the new banners that will be going up on other threads. Will be curios to see what they do when the new logo comes out in May. Will the new logo be on the 2 new banners going up? An even bigger question will be will the REA put the new logo at center ice?!! Also, new jerseys are going to be ordered. Will the new jerseys have the new name and/or logo predominately on the front of the jersey?

Some Gopher fans aren't taking our wins to good!! Used to like Dubay back in the day. Sure UND plays hard. Did they go after Anas a little more Saturday and finish their checks a little harder on him? Sure. But wouldn't any other team do the same thing? Nothing they did to him or anyone else was illegal. Love how Gopher fans always complain about how dirty UND players are and try to convince us that Gopher players are innocent little choir boys!!

I guess I am not old enough to remember what they had way back in the 60's for Championship banners. The old Ralph did have all 7 with the Geometric logo on them. So it's not like the ne Ralph is doing anything that hasn't been done before.

Well the logical answer is everybody. If you are a UND hockey fan and you are too stubborn and selfish that you won't buy a National Championship shirt that says Fighting Hawks on it, honestly turn in your UND fan card right now. These Fighting Sioux Forever fans need to grow up and realize that this is more about them. The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks won a National Championship on Saturday. Not the Fighting Sioux. Accept that fact and move on Ok. End rant.

The NCAA had not problem with the current banners that were there when they signed the agreement. My point is that in order to do this, you would be putting up new banners with the name Fighting Sioux on them. Which violates the agreement from the NCAA. I think it is a great idea for both National and Conference banners. Just don't know if the NCAA will let the Ralph do it. (By the ay, this is great that we are discussing National Championship banner issues)!!

The problem with using the logo of the time we won the Championship, UND signed an agreement with the NCAA that they could only keep historical important items at the Ralph and that all other items would be replaces as needed. Getting new banners to replace the old ones that say "Fighting Sioux" on them would be a breach of that agreement would it not?

Melrose describing Denver's first goal using the telestrator last night sounded something like this.."Denver centerman wins the draw and passes over to the man and he shoots the puck. Watch here now as the player wins the draw and passes it over to the man and he scores". Bucci isn't much better. We all know this. If you had a drinking game where every time Bucci referred to a player and mentioned what NHL team the "are a product of" you might be passe out before the first intermission!! Starman really has shown that he is the best college hockey analysis not only that ESPN has, but in the country. They really need to utilize his talent and put him out there on College hockeys biggest stage. Someone mentioned Clay Matvick as well. That would be one heck of a broadcast team Far superior to the clowns that are out there now!!

Last change is definitively an advantage. But rooting for BC for a chance to exercise the demons of 2006, 2007, and 2008. (And 2001 I suppose).

When Bucci says on April 9th "North Dakota has won the 2016 NCAA hockey National Championship", then he will be everyone's favorite announcer!!!

Pre 2000, many schools started up D1 hockey (Quinnipiac-1999, Canisius-1998, Uconn-1998, UNO-1997) to name a few. But, n the last 16 years, there have only been 3 schools that have started Division 1 hockey. (Robert Morris-2004, Penn State-2012 and Arizona State-2015). There is a reason for that. Starting D1 hockey is expensive. And Athletic Departments have to decide if the cost of adding hockey (mens and womens most likely due to Title IV). Some schools have the desire, but it either isn't financially worth it (Moorhead St), or they decide to put more money and efforts into their other sports. I think the B1G fits into the later. Hockey ranks 3rd at best at the majority of B1G schools. Sure Penn State mad the jump, but not without a sizable financial contribution form a donor. While there is a chance that more B1G schools will add hockey, we haven't seen any yet to even start the conversation of starting. And that is not just them. It's all over the country. Schools are not adding D1 hockey at the rate they used to. So to get to my point, I don't think that UND would have to worry about being kicked out of the B1G if it ever joined.
