  1. pogo's chance at the NHL is a Malone or Vandevelde path- 4 years in college- show up at camp a physical beast with an extra skill set Like face-offs or pk...turning now and I think he's a solid 6 year AHLer with 40 NHL games along the way.
  2. I don't believe so...rookie deals and free agency are governed strictly by the CBA
  3. Agree this is confusing. Too many variables in play...age of signing...AHL vs NHL games. I have thoroughly confused myself
  4. Brock is older than Tyson, that is why he will burn a year and Tyson would not.
  5. I read this as AHL doesn't count. The point is moot for CHLers, because they can't play in the AHL if they are CHL eligible. I don't think AHL contracts count vs NHL free agency- but I could be wrong. In the free agency rules, all measures of "FA groups"are based on NHL games...
  6. What is an Entry Level Slide? If a player who is signed to an entry-level contract and is 18 or 19 years of age (as of September 15 of the signing year), does not play in a minimum of 10 NHL games (including both regular season and playoffs; AHL games do not count), their contract is considered to ‘slide’, or extend, by one year. For example, if a player signed an ELC for three seasons from 2015-16 to 2017-2018, and their contract slides, their contract is now effective from 2016-17 to 2018-19. An exception to this rule is that if the player is 19 on September 15 of the first year of their contract, and turns 20 between September 16 and December 31, their contract does not slide. Players who sign at 18 years old are eligible to have their contracted extended for 2 seasons. This extension does not apply if the player turns 20 between September 16 and December 31 in his signing year. Signing bonuses do not slide, and are paid to the player regardless of a slide, this causes the annual average of the players contract to change, and therefore the cap hit decreases for this player. I read this as AHL games don't count toward NHL free agency on a rookie deal.
  7. Reasons for Jost to stay: 1. Captain UND on a chance at redemption and a natty run 2. Chance to win WJC gold with Canada 3. Know that you are the man, and live the college high life for one more year 4. Work on small details with a lot of practice time, have more time to get bigger and stronger 5. Uncertainty on NHL vs AHL 6. Colorado does not have the pieces in place for him to enter a winning culture/environment Reasons to go: 1. $ 2. $$ 3. $$$ 4. Achieve your lifelong dream suiting up in the NHL 5. Good chance at full season in NHL
  8. As bad as the yotes were, he has a good chance of playing in the NHL right away- although his deal will slide based on age if he doesn't make it
  9. So, the core definition of homophobic is fear of same. In common usage it's reference is to sexual orientation. Poor choice of words.
  10. Jost had a couple games where he looked like he was NHL ready...he also had games where he was a non-factor such as the last one. For Jost it might be a similar situation to Nick Schmaltz. Depending on off-season moves by the Avs, he would turn if the roster situation becomes favorable. True, his deal slides should he turn and not get 10 games in the NHL, but if he is all but guaranteed his 10, he'll go. If I'm in mgt in Colorado, I am also a little concerned by the lack of true development/improvement in his game over the past few months.
  11. And I bet if you asked Osh, he say that he got to play with Toews. You didn't notice Toews as much, because he was always in the right place.
  12. So every member of the CBS line has scored an NHL goal this year...
  13. Proper positional play dictates that a sleeper dman is the responsibility of the weak side winger
  14. Yup- when you need super slow motion and multiple cameras and after 14 minutes conclude it was offsides by the smallest of possible margins- seems like indisputable evidence to overturn the call on the ice...especially on a zone entry well before the goal
  15. 3 hits and a SOG in the first
  16. Wait...Jost played yesterday? I thought he was in Colorado...because 17 was invisible yesterday...flame away
  17. Hoff wears a size 8 men's skate on his right foot, but apparently a youth 2 on his left...I'm surprised he doesn't just skate in circles given this issue
  18. I wasn't overreacting yesterday at all...not a bit...I never overreact to sports after 7/8 beers...never...especially not season ending losses in double OT after thinking it was won. I keep that totally in proportion with my regular sober, real-life...total perspective...always...
  19. Boeser burns a year, gets closer to the big bucks Jost would not this year, but it might help him make the squad next year
  20. Its age based- Brock is 20 What is an Entry Level Slide? 21. I think his deal slides based on age...in other words, I don't think he burns a year of ELC unless he plays 10 games, because he is still junior eligible
  22. I zoomed in tight. Hoff's left skate is on the blueline at that instant. The puck is on the blueline. we'd need to advance the frame a millisecond
  23. Seems like the "burden of proof" was flipped on this. Like they needed to prove it was onside irrefutably. The other issue, brought up here, that is also clear on the screen shot: BU had 3 guys back! Offside by a millisecond did nothing to impact the play or outcome.
