Honestly, I haven’t heard about any significant shortage in CA at the moment...and I would hear directly. Projections for possibly...hence the production ramp up. AND not every person in care delivery needs full Coronavirus gear... this has become so political, everybody has their wants, needs and wishlists... im not watching any “news” media. It’s all complete garbage. Absolute and complete. Oh, and we have the most advanced healthcare on the planet. We don’t stock up with tons of bio hazard gear, because we are the first world.

I love NYC, I worked there in my younger days. There are many aspects of that city that have third world characteristics

Too much of this country on both sides has become party over country...we leveraged the union to become the super power of the 20th century...maybe we should splinter to remain viable in the 21st?

As I advanced in my career, one of the greatest blind spots I’ve observed in many talented people is their inability to appreciate the fact that they dont know what they don’t know or they assume that they have the same basis in data or understanding as others in the room. It applies to both IQ and EQ facets. To me it’s the biggest hurdle for people trying to get the executive suite. It’s painfully obvious that it applies to the body politic in spades and half of that body having no actual talent.

China most certainly lied in the beginning. The draconian measures they took to stop the initial spread would never have been tolerated in the USA or anywhere in the free world. This is NOT the 12 Monkeys virus either, in which case I could support draconian measures.

It is going to be very interesting to dissect this event in retrospect. I think we’re still 2 weeks out from a good assessment of where we sit in terms of the healthcare side of the pandemic.

If you’ve been active on here in real time from the beginning it’s much better than if you popped in and are trying to catch up. that said, there’s been great posts, we have some healthcare heroes in the middle of the fight, we’ve got some healthy opposing viewpoints, we’ve got info that we otherwise might not have because of the geographic and employment diversity of members.... we also have some very opinionated politicos, partisans, tinfoil hats, cultists, blowhards, etc... In other words...this forum resembles a Congress

I certainly don’t propose shutting the media down, but I think we have an abundance of irresponsible, entertainment/audience focused media. It’s hard to get straight facts these days. It feels more Joseph Goebels than Walter Cronkite.

You can convert lives and hospitalizations to dollars...it’s inelegant, but you can. I attempted that earlier. the fact that we live in such a polarized political environment makes all of this so much worse. Remember: viruses don’t belong to a party.

There are lots of places in CA and NY outside of LA/SF proper and NYC where we’re spread out. I’m on 3/4 of an acre in Ventura County.

First major uptick in CA COVID admissions on this morning’s Global hospital census. Including about half in ICU...including an infant, other peds, all ages thereafter as well. Some with comorbidities many without. Good news is they are spread across facilities so no bed shortages at this time.
