  1. When they play their angles perfectly, that tends to be where the shots go. I give credit to Mantha.
  2. I saw at least a half-dozen high percentage shots...we score on half of those and its a 4-1 win. Sometimes the puck doesn't go in. This is not a big deal. If we respond with another dominating performance and pump some in, it will be a good start. The 2010-2011 Pony Express team- which was the best team in the country that year- also tied in the opener in Alaska with a veteran laden stud team.
  3. I watched the game, and I did not think they played poorly at all. They were clearly the superior team. Sometimes you don't get the finish. Mantha was awesome. tie in non-conference doesn't do very much in PWR, its a missed opportunity, but not a big deal. I also contend the ice was very poor.
  4. and the broadcast has stopped working on wcha.tv
  5. hot goalie...fortunately they have zero offense
  6. totally overpowering and outplaying them- can't bury chances tonight- gripping the sticks too tight
  7. Really pleasantly surprised with Hoff on that first line. I agree with JJ really being the only forward that was pretty invisible. D made quite a few mistakes, but I attribute that to first time at game speed this year. Based on what I saw last night, I think you have Yon and JJ duking it out for one spot when we are looking for offense, and Gornall and Smith duking it out for that same spot when we need grit. As always, any passengers in practice or on Friday will be in street clothes.
  8. One of those "in-between" years we had the best team in college hockey but lost in the semi-final to Michigan. This team might resemble that Pony Express team...they were deep. If Gersich can break out into a Frattin type year, and Garner and/or Pogo play the Malone/Knight role...Wolanin as Genoway...
  9. I gotta give Mismash blue chip status. He is a second round NHLer...
  10. hence my statement about a change of possession during the course of the play. That is the biggest circumstance. If UND had scored on the initial rush or even if we cycled it for awhile maintaining possession it makes sense to review it. However, the change of possession and failure to clear the zone nullified any advantage of an offside entry. The new rule reflects this.
  11. Me too. I'm glad they changed the rule. The circumstances around it: barely offside (like an inch) on a zone entry 20 seconds before the goal, with a change in possession in the course of the play...the inch offside made zero impact to the goal.
  12. Only way that happens is if Cam plays poorly. You're talking about a national champion goalie; its been his net for the past two seasons. No way you rotate now in order to give the new guy some reps. ONLY way is poor play out of Cam and poor team results.
  13. Wolanin and Poolman Peski and Shaw I feel pretty good about that as our top d pairings
  14. He got his undergrad, but he still had eligibility. He could've taken masters classes and developed more. He just never had the skating of an NHL player. I hope he proves me wrong, but...
  15. Now if the Gophers would just join the NCHC...
  16. You also want to protect the freshies early in the season...putting Mishmash with the Gardner and Pogo puts him in a great position for success early. Same goes with pairing Guch with Gersich...get them some points early on.
  17. So many combos in that bottom 6... Adams, Simo, Jones JJ, Hoff, Olson Yon's got some scorer upside in him that I'd like to experiment with too...Smith available as a physical presence and relief as well... We will be able to roll 4 this year
  18. RW after Pogo is totally up for grabs IMO. Jones, Bowen, and Olson will fill the wings, but chemistry and work will determine who plays where. I actually really like Mishmash, Gardner, Pogo as the first line- tough to play against, NHL potential. I want to see Gersich and Guch together maybe Bowen plays with them- they could fly
  19. wait a minute- did Steve Yzerman retire as a player?
  20. Kiefer Bellows leaving BU...sounds like he's headed to Portland in the WHL
  21. so zero hockey east...need other NCHC teams to do the job vs them then.
