Can ASU make the tournament as an independent?

That series they ran on Miami hockey was really good. Co-produced by NCHC. I hope they run those types of things for every team, they’re really good.

That was a gritty well-earned road win. Man, I thought somehow Miami would tie it up and pull out a BS win out of their arses but they didn’t. Happy for UND gutting that victory out.

I think CC running into SCSU and UMD back to back has been a painful reminder that the Tigers still have a lot to improve upon. Nice to have gotten early season wins but coach Haviland has been loading up the schedule with cupcakes which has masked our deficiencies.

Wow....Brad Berry just told Hennessy that Janatuinen is a coach’s dream. Went on to say how reliable he is out there on the ice. Quite the compliment.

Leave it to UND to give up a goal like that in the waning seconds...Geesh.

It sounds like Wisconsin May have discovered their new starting goalie. I listened to the third period and kept hearing Hennessy proclaim one nice save after the other on UND chances.

Things went from bad to worse for CC as I saw Chris Wilkie walking in the concourse in a suit and he had a cast on his right arm.

After a really nice first period, CC went and messed their britches the rest of the way tonight against St. Cloud. Unfortunately for Coach Haviland, he can’t schedule 34 games against non-conference cupcakes.

The key here is for UND not to over play their hand and schedule these destination games too often. We don’t want it becoming how outdoor games have become....over exposed and passé.

I just played in a hockey tournament out in Nashville this past May and it is a total party town. It also helped that the Preds were playing the Jets in the playoffs but regardless, it’s a crazy fun town. I’m very much looking forward to going back for the UND destination game in a few years.

In 2012, I had the “pleasure” of sitting behind a Gopher fan at Mariucci who spent the entire game standing up, turning around, and yelling in my face whenever the Gophers scored as well as at the end of the game (a 5-1 drubbing of UND). I hadn’t said sh*t the entire game, I didn’t yell, “SIOUX!” at the end of the anthem, nothing. The guy even got lectured by my girlfriend at the time and others who were decked out in Gopher gear because he was embarrassing himself. I knew, sitting in my girlfriend’s mother’s seats deep in the middle of Gopher season ticket holders in the lower bowl, center ice, to just clap when they announced the UND lineup and cheer when we scored our lone goal. Does this mean EVERY Gopher fan is an obnoxious ass like the guy who kept antagonizing me? No. In fact, our seats for the game the next night were in a different section and we sat next to two very nice, welcoming Gopher fans who were awesome. I’m a season ticket holder for CC and have observed bad behavior by Tigers fans as well so it’s not fair to characterize one fan base or the other as “bad.” The difference is, with UND, we travel in large numbers so we tend to all get pigeonholed as a group whenever an opposing fan experiences problems with one or a handful of a-Hole UND fans. You rarely hear Gopher or other fan bases stereotype a fan base like CC’s as good, bad or otherwise because we just don’t travel in huge numbers. Point being, I think it’s unfair to lump all of us UND fans as bad sports when, in fact, it’s the opposite.

I don’t recall hearing about this happening last season during the UND/Gopher series. If it did, I’d hope they’d have reported it.

Agreed. A lot of folks were all over Kawaguchi last year but he really seemed to find his footing as the second half of last season progressed. I bet he’s going to really develop into a great player for North Dakota.
