Been to Duluth, Denver, Omaha, and Miami (not counting CC as I’m a season ticket holder for Tiger hockey). By far, the best arena and experience I’ve had was in Oxford. Nice arena-small and intimate and great college atmosphere. Oxford totally is a college town, lots of bars and restaurants downtown. Not many hotels though, had to stay outside of Cincinnati and rent a car to get to Oxford each game night. Omaha is a close second. Been there many times for both UND and CC series. Fans have always been nice and hospitable and Baxter Arena is nice-open air concourse. Lots of bars and restaurants right across the street within walking distance. Denver is ALWAYS a blast. Partly because of the intense rivalry between the two programs. Nothing sweeter to my ears than when North Dakota scores and hearing the roar of the HUGE sea of green that invades Magness Arena every series there! I still remember Poolman scoring in overtime a few seasons back and how deafening the North Dakota fans were and how quiet the DU fans were. Duluth. Hard to say because I attended a series between the dogs and CC and Duluth easily skated past the Tigers. So between two easy wins and no real rivalry between the two teams, the atmosphere was kind of dull. However I bet UND fans who’ve gone to games there will attest differently.

Totally. Watching that 5 min PP you wouldn’t know that at one point just a few weeks ago, they had the #1 PP in the nation converting at 38%. They look tonight like they can’t get out of their own way.

That was crazy! Wondering if Howard’s punch was the manifestation of growing frustration over his team’s (and his) performance and knowing that his job security is on the line?

I recently watched an interview with Wolverine Kent Johnson and it came down to two schools for him he said….Michigan and UND. He didn’t go into details as to why he didn’t choose UND but he was complimentary of the program. Who knows why a kid ultimately chooses the program he ends up at, it could be a myriad of reasons. Check out this interview from a few months back. Great interview with Johnson but go to about the 42:30 mark to hear what he had to say about choosing Michigan and not North Dakota.

And it was a heads up, opportunistic play by Jamernik and a sweet goal to boot!

And DU pretty much owns CC as well dating back to about 2013. The two teams played about a month ago and I honestly don’t think Chrona and the boys even needed to shower after the games, they had such an easy time with CC. I don’t expect CC to give UND any help in two weeks so best thing we can do is have UND take care of their own business. -
Even the Duluth tv guys commented about Biondi not being out on the ice late in the game but they didn’t pursue speculating as to why.
-
Maybe a petty gripe but the league inexplicably omitted Jamernick’s goal in the highlights from last night. Not only was it a great short handed goal but it also turned out to be the game winner.

And in the CC/Miami game last night, the refs gave a RedHawks player a 5 and a game for an elbow to the head that looked no different than the hit in the UND game. Funny how one set of officials see a virtually identical play so differently than another. I thought both elbows deserved a 5 and a game.

I’ll be attending the battle for 7th place as CC hosts Miami but I look forward to reading everyone’s comments about the UND game tonight.

Their television announcers are gawd awful too. Very difficult listening to that pair.

Surprised Savoie wasn’t playing for team Canada -
This game had big PWR implications for both BU and NU. The loss really hurts the Huskies.

Agreed. Kris Mayotte was politicking and chirping the refs way too much IMO this weekend. Every big hit seemed like he wanted a review for a major. I missed it but my dad said a CC player ran into a UND player’s backside with his head down and fell and got hurt and Mayotte asked for a review. To me, there’s a fine line between gamesmanship and just being a whiner and a baby. Mayotte seemed to cross that line this weekend.

Nope. The DU commentator made a good point that in basketball it’s a technical foul if you call a time out that you don’t have (just ask Michigan fans about that from the fab five days in the final four) and that maybe they oughta change the rules in hockey and assess a penalty if a team does that. Carle was understandably furious with the officials.

Wisconsin hangs on to win 5-3 over Notre Dame.

It was unclear to me as I was watching it on tv but I wonder if it was Sandelin who instructed his players on the ice to call for a timeout knowing full well they’d already used theirs, to see if they could confuse and trick the officials at least long enough to buy their players some time to catch their breath?
-
Apparently not as the DU play by play guy even mentioned that as a possible rule change that they should consider.
-
Boy, was he ever pissed late in the game. Duluth had already used its time out a minute or so prior and they ice the puck late, clinging to a one goal lead. Duluth proceeds taking another timeout and the wizards in stripes grant it to them until they figured out they’d already used it so about a minute goes by where some tired Duluth players were able to catch their collective breath and negate DU’s advantage!

Very rare if ever that I found myself rooting for Duluth but I was a Dogs fan tonight! -
Anyone in the know on league protocol for issuing supplemental discipline for 5 minute majors? Does the league review every 5 minute major that’s called or could the CC coach have politicked the league to take a closer look at the play to determine whether additional punishment was warranted? -I haven’t had a chance to see replay of the hit so not aware if the extra game suspension is warranted or not.
-
I was skeptical of DU’s success during their run given the list of opponents they played but they’ve proven me wrong as of late as they’re continuing their run against some good opponents too-swept St. Cloud and beat Duluth last night. True test will be when they go on the road to Kalamazoo.

Just read that Moore got an extra game suspension for tonight’s finale.
