2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Highly speculative and no basis for this comment but since we’re all thinking out loud here, I’ll post my comments… I could see senior Matt Vernon of CC entering the transfer portal at the conclusion of this season. It’s been very clear from early on that freshman Kaiden Mbereko was going to be Mayotte’s guy from the get-go (and with good reason as Mbereko has demonstrated). Vernon, while smaller and sometimes erratic in his playing style, is a capable collegiate level goaltender. I just don’t see him staying at CC for a fifth year, mostly riding the pine. Just a name to keep in the back of your heads if/when he decides to enter the portal. -
If we end up going to Baxter and they beat us, they’ll hang a banner.
-
CC with the OT shootout victory now is in sole possession of sixth place. UND drops to seventh.
-
Sounds like Hennessy is not having any luck getting a post game interview with Berry.
-
If Omaha secures home ice, they’ll draw well too.
-
It felt like we were chasing the game right off the bat.
-
I think Chrona learned a painful lesson in sticking his nose where it didn’t belong. Double teaming Beck from behind is kind of a bush league move. I guess he got the last laugh with the victory so whatever.

I was just saying the same thing to my buddy! So glad to having seen Tech having success at both the conference as well as national level. We sat next to their fans at the west regional last March and they were so cool! And spirited! They even brought their pep band and even after losing to Duluth, they stuck around for the Lowell/DU game and cheered and played!
-
Whoever’s in charge of the music at Amsoil in between play is a genius! Iron Maiden, Sammy Hagar, Rush, Ratt, Kiss, Twisted Sister. Keep it coming!

1-1, Dogs just tied it
-
Eastern Michigan/Ball State basketball going to overtime so feel free to go out and get yourself a ham sandwich as this game won’t end for another half hour.
-
27.9 seconds to play in the Eastern Michigan/Ball State basketball game televised on CBS Sports prior to the NCHC game of the week, which means the game won’t end for another 20 minutes.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Sadly, I don’t know if Miami has much of a chance this weekend at St. Cloud. I know they split with Cloud a few months back but that was in Miami and on the smaller sheet. St. Cloud is very difficult to play against on that Olympic ice. Here’s hoping though that the RedHawks can somehow manage to steel some points this weekend. -
6-3, Duluth. Empty netter, thanks to the St. Cloud puck carrier who fell down as he was passing the puck to the Duluth player. Thanks for nothing, Jan Brady.
-
If they’re going to these super long ref reviews, at least the cameraman has the good sense to get the camera on the hot blondes dancing in the stands!
-
Okay has Chris Bergeron totally lost his locker room? The Miami players don’t even look like they’re trying.
-
Schloss being interviewed by the Miami play by play guy. He’s saying the Miami road trip his favorite of all road trips because of Sky Line Chili. He says he’s eaten it 5 times on this trip. Clearly there’s truth that people’s taste in food is very subjective! Runny spaghetti noodles covered in bad chili!
-
I’m cracking a beer and toasting Owen. I was so happy to see him get that first collegiate goal!
-
Maybe I’m late to the party on this but man, the Miami tv production is atrocious! I’m struggling to see half the ice when the puck is in the Miami zone.
-
Seems curious to me why Berry even had Kleven on the ice for the final minute of the game. It felt like Miami was purposely going after Kleven, trying to bait him.
-
Despite playing hard and aggressive, CC still doesn’t have the skill or depth of Denver. It’s getting better though under Mayotte. Let’s hope he doesn’t get offered the Michigan job at the end of the season.
-
According to Schloss, almost 18,000. We decided not to go given we live down in the Springs. Between getting our 3 year old from school, getting her to grandma’s, and then battling rush hour traffic up in Denver, we decided to just watch it on tv.
-
The CC/DU game was entertaining. It was clear that Denver was the deeper, more talented team but CC battled hard and didn’t look scared or intimidated. They had a great start, it didn’t feel that the arena, the big crowd, or the opponent was too big for CC. Mbereko faced 41 shots and several of them were of the grade A type. He stopped 39 of 41 good for a .951 save percentage. Like coach Mayotte said in his post game interview, the fact Mbereko wasn’t named one of the three stars is laughable.

So glad the Miami fan sitting behind Berry during that interview didn’t do what I thought he might do.
