  1. I’d love to know too. CC’s great about keeping the public in the dark on stuff like that such as Haviland’s term and salary.
  2. https://gazette.com/sports/with-support-of-many-including-former-coach-cc-hockey-coach-kris-mayotte-looks-to-pay/article_2760f2e2-9bc4-11eb-94fa-0f8a22529e10.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=user-share&fbclid=IwAR2EsI9MK4Naaw6UYhHmDnscBZVQ_zN2gfhaP80aKpCmXVyIQ14entZ0j2c
  3. The only inside track I have regarding CC hockey is with the concourse beer garden.
  4. The shot of the guy eating his nachos with that scowl was pretty funny.
  5. Found this picture of the St. Cloud trainer tonight during the game
  6. I’m late to the party but has anyone mentioned we got a “Yo, ding dong! Ding dong,Yo!” from Bucci?!?!
  7. I like what coach Carvel has done to turn UMass around. They’ve been second (or third or fourth) fiddle to the Boston blue bloods for years so fun to see them in the spotlight. Plus, the little I’ve seen of them this season, they play fast, hard, and aggressive. Was really impressed how they battled back in that third period to tie it and then dominate the OT against Duluth. I’m pulling for UMass.
  8. A funny story I do remember was about 15 years ago. An ex- wanted to go to a CC/Bemidji game down at World Arena since she grew up there in Bemidji and was a fan of BSU. So, we go and I buy each of us a beer late in the first period of a scoreless and dreadfully boring game. Then, out of nowhere a CC player springs a teammate on a breakaway and they score with, like, 3 seconds left in the period! I literally jumped out of my seat, throwing my hands in the air and out flying was a tall draft beer. It was like the Matrix movies, it felt slow motion as I desperately tried catching the plastic cup of beer (full mind you). I failed and it splashed all over two Bemidji State fans sitting directly in front of us. To make matters worse, the gal I was with pointed at me and started laughing hysterically which pissed these two BSU dudes off even more. After apologizing several times, as a token of goodwill, I ran down to the concourse, bought three beers and went back up and gave each of them one plus a replacement for myself. I figure that my 1 original beer cost me close to forty bucks by the time I even got a sip! Oh, and while stinking of draft beer and still salty, these two dudes were relatively cool about the whole situation as the game went along.
  9. That was the thing probably! Game was still probably going on and I wanted to get my Molson and get back to my seat ASAP so I didn’t miss anything!
  10. I’m reminded by a fellow CC hockey buddy that about ten years ago, at Magness Arena, a DU fan wanted to fight me for committing the cardinal sin of wearing a Sioux jersey and walking out to the concourse to buy a beer. The event was so traumatic, I have no recollection of the event ever happening. I must’ve laughed, gotten my beer, and walked away. Turns out he’s the ex-boyfriend of another friend’s wife and she said the guy was nuts. That he hates North Dakota (clearly) with a passion. Sad someone internalizes a game to that degree.
  11. For the record, I would be remiss if I didn’t tell the story of a former coworker and SCSU grad who invited me multiple times up to St. Cloud from Denver for a series or two against UND and CC. While the timing didn’t work out and I couldn’t attend, at one of the series, he caught an SCSU game puck and gave it to me when he returned to Colorado as he knows I collect college pucks so that was way cool of him. He knew I not only collected store bought pucks but have a particular fondness for game used pucks with the logo on the front and back and all the scratches, nicks, and dings in them. @petey23you bring up an excellent point I failed to consider in my earlier posts. Bad apples everywhere but many more good ones too.
  12. Funny story each of the first three years of the Frozen Faceoff there was this kid, probably about 18-19. He cheered for both St. Cloud and Duluth as well as whoever else happened to be playing UND. He’d jump up wildly and scream his head off anytime UND got scored on, took a penalty, etc. Totally pissing off the UND fans around him. The great irony was, he always wore a Parise Minnesota Wild jersey. After one of his recent spastic bouts, I asked him, “You do realize where Zach Parise played his college hockey right?”
  13. My buddy and his wife took a road trip to St. Cloud a few years ago for a series against CC. He’s been to virtually every barn in HE, ECAC, and the NCHC and met a lot of cool fanbase and he said by far, St. Cloud’s was the worst. Thought their you know what didn’t stink, were at best apathetic towards them and at worst downright rude. They didn’t bother staying for the Saturday night game, choosing to drive down I-94 for the Gophers/Harvard game (good choice as that game went to overtime). I can’t bring myself to root for St. Cloud tomorrow either. Would be very happy seeing Coach Carvel and his players raise that trophy.
  14. He makes a lot of acrobatic saves which, while flashy, typically means he’s out of position.
  15. His numbers would tell someone who’s not familiar with him or CC hockey a different story but watching him as much as I did this season, he really seems to have the fundamentals. That, and he appears to be a calming presence out there. Certainly much better positioning and fundamentals than Vernon.
  16. Worst night of sleep in as long as I can remember. Took forever to fall asleep and when I did, kept thinking about that goal and the what if’s. Stinging loss but so incredibly proud of the players and coaching staff for battling back and how hard they played. Proud to call myself a North Dakota fan.
  17. That was such a classy move. I’m sure he and every other goalie who’s played at a high level have been in that unenviable position before so he could probably empathize.
  18. So if Kawaguchi doesn’t return, Sendin with the C on his sweater?
  19. Everyone has to do a shot whenever Bucci says, “YO! DING DONG!”
  20. To your point, we have Xfinity and my wife (who’s the brains in this operation) found ESPN 3 on the channel guide and it comes on. If you can use streaming services through your provider, and you have ESPN, you might be able to get ESPN 3 on your television. Edit: ESPN 3 won’t show up on your channel guide; you have to specifically search for ESPN channels to locate ESPN 3.
  21. Oh really? I did not know that. Interesting.
  22. Not to mention, in normal years, the ECAC schools-at least the Ivies-don’t start playing games until a month after the rest of the conferences have started. I follow Cornell and see that after teams like UND and virtually everybody else have had 4-6 games under their belt, they’re just getting in their first warm up game against a Canadian University. Why do they do that?
  23. You think Cole Caufield will leave after this season?
