Wilke with a beautiful pass to a Duluth player and Kuhlman rings the post.

Cole Smith play tomorrow night?
-
Wolanin just killed our momentum.

They better be playing more 'Lightening Crashes' this intermission to fire themselves up!
-
That 4th goal was in light of those new "lively" boards. Shot went wide and came rightnout to Petersen. Hrynkiw was looking the other direction still.
-
Starman made a great observation-teams like Duluth and St. Cloud tend to hold onto players for 3-4 years whereas North Dakota recruits a lot of high-end players who typically bolt after 2. Duluth is very deep and experienced.

Anyone ever notice the sh*t eatin grin Joel Janatuinen always seems to have during game play, especially when mixing it up with an opposing player after the whistle?!?!

I go to a lot of DU games and they don't have a very strong, loyal fan base (they blame it on the myriad of things to do in the greater Denver area as the reason). That said, they have a web page called, "letsgoDU" where there's a good group of writers who post articles and fans can reply. The best ones are the snarky, "onion-like" stories they'll do about whoever their opponent happens to be that particular weekend.

CC has a couple of pages on Facebook. One of them is a rah rah page where, anything you say that could even be remotely deemed critical gets deleted and/or you get ridiculed as not being a "true fan." Case in point, CC could lose 7-2 and the rah rah fans will blame the loss on the officiating but if you try to be honest and use logic (i.e., critique CC's actual play on the ice), you get the scarlet letter. A year or two ago, my buddy started a CC hockey discussion page of his own where fans could engage in healthy debate without reprisal so long as people don't get personal with one another and maintain a level of civility. There, you can call a spade a spade without being labeled "negative" or, "not a good fan."

Great-Eastern Michigan/Akron game running long. About a minute to play which means about 20 minutes in real time.

DaveK has a good point. Not to mention several near-misses of 4 seeds knocking off 1 seeds. There's a lot more parity in hockey than, say, college basketball and to me, that's a good thing.

https://letsgodu.com/2017/01/17/du-announces-troy-terry-is-out-indefinitely-season-likely-not-over/ The folks over at letsgodu are downplaying the extent of Terry's injury. Not saying they're right or wrong, just wanting to share their perspective of his injury.

Are there any NCAA rules/limitations on how many home games a team can play?
-
This sucks. Troy Terry has been a treat to watch this season with both Team USA and DU. My wife took me to the DU/ASU game last Saturday and we both wore our USA jerseys in honor of him. They had a nice video tribute during the first period for him...very classy.

I'd also throw in Maine and New Hampshire as well.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. Miami - SATURDAY Gameday ********
Godsmack replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I have two tickets to the first round of the NCHC playoffs in Colorado Springs if anyone wants to buy 'em! -
And?

Wasn't that kid Christian Cakebread supposed to play at UND? Just read that he's arriving at Niagra for the second half of the season.
-
Does anyone have another link to the highlights? I keep trying to watch the video posted on UND sports.com and it locks up on me.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2016 - 2017 Season
Godsmack replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
A little off topic from recent topic of conversation but any thoughts of this year's UND team having Poganski, Gardner and Olson be this year's "heavy line?" -
Just got word that Alex Roos and Duggie Lagrone have left the CC Tiger program. Upper classmen that had gotten very little playing time under Haviland as of late. At the rate coach Haviland is going, he won't have enough skaters to dress.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2016 - 2017 Season

The Avs have not used their first pick on a defenseman in a decade. I get it-sometimes you take the best available kid in the draft and Jost certainly was it. That said, the Avs have a lot of talented forwards and centers; their biggest deficiency, IMO, is on the blue line. As an editorial aside, I almost pick up a vibe of glee on Chambers' part when he wrote of Jost being a "one-and-done" at North Dakota. Let's not forget that he's a beat writer for the Denver Post and DU hockey so there's no love lost between DU and UND. The part about Jost growing up and raised by a single mom was irrelevant and inappropriate in my opinion. -
I watched the game and have to give huge props to Chris Wilke for selling his body out and blocking a heavy slap shot from the point, late in the 3rd. That one looked like it hurt too. Nicely done, Wilke.

I see Minnesota scheduled some powerhouses again for the Mariucci Snoozer.

I just about fell out of my chair in disbelief! CC strings together back to back wins! Best of all, a guy I play beer league hockey with had a kid who plays for Cornell so I have bragging rights!
