I still use the trusty Sher-Wood, I don't like the graphite stick I bought a few years ago. Once I graduate and actually have some $ I'll have to try those new composite sticks. I tried my cousin's last year and liked it, but they are spendy.

Scalping student tickets renews lottery concerns Schuetzle says sale of student tickets would have happend regardless of lottery system. By Matt Schill October 04, 2004 Student Body President Jordan Schuetzle calls it unfortunate, but said there's not much that can be done. Some students have been selling their season hockey tickets. In the Oct. 1 issue of the Dakota Student, one student, who declined to have his named published, placed a classified ad selling two seats of season student hockey tickets for $300 each or best offer. "My first thought is that it can happen," Schuetzle said. "It was unfortunate that they were asking so much." The seller did not want disclose how much he sold the tickets for, but said it was over the $75 dollar per seat students paid. The seller took a handful of requests through e-mail before personally meeting with the buyers before selling the tickets. The seller and five friends needed only six seats. After four individuals were selected in the lottery, they bought eight tickets, and decided to sell the extra two. And it came down to economics. "Why should we sell them to whomever, when I can sell them for the most we can," the seller said. Schuetlze said he understands the argument, but wished students who showed up for tickets could have received them. "There were 2,000 students who could have (tickets) for $75," Schuetzle said. Complaints Freshman Jeremy Nelson voiced his concern in a letter to the editor, printed in today's Dakota Student. Nelson wrote that Student Government's ticket process was unsuccessful and unfair. "The lottery process did exactly what Student Government had intended - it allowed everyone to have an equal shot at the tickets," Nelson wrote, later adding, "I hope everyone has noticed what a true rip-off this lottery process was." Schuetzle that the lottery process had nothing to do with students selling tickets. "It still could have happened if we had a line," Schuetzle said. He said that every game can't always be attended, by both students and the public, which was a major reason for a change in the contract students needed to sign before buying tickets. The clause, "I understand I am responsible for actions made by any individual sitting in my reserved seat. Giving a game ticket to another individual whom violates an arena rule, may result in a loss of my seat," was removed from this year's contract. Resale The resale of tickets or "scalping" is legal in the state of North Dakota. Instead it grants municipalities and localities the ability to license, tax, remove or prohibit resale. Grand Forks has no laws against ticket resale. "We're helping the system," the seller said before selling the tickets. "People who want the tickets the most will get them. Even the most we are offering is still less than what the public pays." I would love to meet "seller" preferably on the rink, or a very dark alley.

That would be Greene. I think he is the only one that still uses a wood stick. He seems to break 2 or 3 a game, usually over an opponent.

I don't know that too many are expecting Zajac to be the second coming, at least not on the level as ZP. It is interesting to note that Zajac was taken in about the same place as ZP in the NHL draft. From watching him on Sat he for sure has the potential to have a season similar to ZP's freshman year. He is a great two way player, that likely doesn't have the hockey sense ZP did, but he is a lot bigger. I think Hak played the freshman (forwards) a lot just to take a look at them. I'd expect to see Fylling moved up into the top two lines next weekend. It will be nice to get another look at the new players tomorrow night.

They went 1-1-1 again. They tied WI, smoked team NW and lost to team North.

This Souix team must have been in St. Cloud the same time as the Sioux. I guess the San Diego State Aztecs are named after the car, not the people. I wonder what the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are named after? PCM, your name sounds Irish, I think we should organize a protest against Notre Dame. I guess the PC groups decided to lump mascot and logo together.

He had knee surgery and isn't playing in the elite league. He may be in Lincoln after the HS season.

Freshman redshirting in hockey is basically unheard of. None of the current players have redshirted. It is more common to get a medical redshirt, but none of the current players have done this. Fylling took a year off to play in the USHL after his freshman year, so his freshman year was 5 years ago, but he is still only in his fourth year of school.

I was up in 308. If I had been in 108 like last year someone would have gotten a swift kick in the ass. It was very very low class. This is why stupid freshman shouldn't have been allowed to get lower bowl seats As for the PP, that is something that likely isn't practiced much during captains practice. I'm sure Hakstol will spend a lot of time this week on special teams. There had to have been some sort of single game record for shorthanded goals last night, I believe each team had 2, or did the Sioux have 3? It was hard to keep track considering it was rarely 5 on 5.

Stafford was easily the best player on the ice. That move he made on his backhand goal would easily make ESPN's top 10 if it was in the NHL. I see him leading the Sioux in scoring this year, especially if he continues to play with Zajac. Zajac didn't look like a freshman at all. He was all over the ice, he backchecked hard and made some nice defensive plays. He was also a huge offensive threat, he has a great shot, very quick release like BB. Lammy looked good, he is much more athletic than Brandt or JP. He is very quick, but seemed to pull himself out of position a few times. Kaip is a lot like Porter, but he is more of a defensive player. I could see him on the PK a lot this year. Spirko is very small and very fast. He had some chances last night. He was out of position a lot and didn't seem as comfortable as Zajac, which I think is normal. He could put up some good numbers this year. Radke hardly played at all. He looked pretty lost out there most of the time. You can tell he is a very good skater though. He really didn't play enough for me to get much of an opinion. It looks like he will take a little time to develop, as most freshman do. The PP didn't look good, Hak used the same system as last year. Sending a suckhole out like that does nothing for the PP, I don't understand why coaches do it. IMO it lead to the shorthanded goal. That and the fact a forward was at the point. I was hoping to see Radke spend some time on the PP, but he obviously wasn't ready. After a week of practices I imagine things will change. The players listed on the roster that didn't dress were: Marvin, Bina, Prpich, Parise and Foyt.

SIOUXPR You probably sat next to me some of those games. The idiots that had tickets on either side of me really ticked me off. They should do it like class - if you don't show up they boot you out and give your seat to someone else.

Is stalking yourself a crime? Can Schmidtdoggydog or any other defense lawyers answer this. If it's not I think it should be. RW - I got help for that problem, all the TRO's kept me away at least 100 yards, what fun is stalking if you can't get w/in 100 yards of the person?

Ladies and gents we officially have a complete wackjob on SiouxSports.
-
Excuse my ignorance but where exactly is the Penalty Box? Is this just the bar at the end of the REA?
-
Lee Marvin on a coast to coast rush from the point.
-
Friday night = yes Saturday night = no. Didn't some bars in GF pick up internet feeds last season? Maybe they will do the same this year.
-
I was flipping through AM stations yesterday (looking for the Twins game) when I came across a Winnipeg station that was interviewing Lee Goren. He signed with the Moose and was excited about playing in his hometown. He said he had been skating at the Ralph (he said in GF, I assume it was at the REA) with some former college teamates. I may have to make a trip up North to see the Moose this year. I believe they just built a new rink, Winnipeg is always a good time regardless.
-
Anyone? This is my question also.
-
I don't like the fact that this is going to be their 4th game and the Sioux have yet to have an organized practice. I'm thinking this could be a very sloppy game, although the Sioux should be able to win on talent. Didn't Andy S beat the living crap out of a Manitoba player 2 years ago?
-
They are a bunch of 25 year old Canadians!

[ I just picked up my upper deck tickets. These are still good seats, I'm not complaining about being up there. I will however complain if the people in 108 and 109 are not at the game on time cheering loudly. So now that the WCHA is the World collegiate hockey association does that mean they are going to let teams from Europe in?
-
World Collegiate Hockey Association? I didn't realize the WCHA went global. Jim - the changes to the site are looking good.
-
So what is the process for getting upper deck tickets to the Manitoba game?
-
Really? I never thought of that I'm pretty sure it was a misprint, either that or the student vp is an exchange student from Bulgaria. I officially didn't get tickets, my name wasn't on the list outside of student gov't - thanks RW77 for the info. Looks like I'm going to have to figure out the process for getting upper bowl tickets, from the sound of it those are going to be the better (atmosphere anyway) seats this season. The dakota student article brought up a good point. However, they will never open up more student seats when so many remain empty every game (with a few exceptions - i.e. minny series). The people to my right last year went to maybe 1/2 the games. The people to my left maybe 1/4 of the games. There were plenty of empty seats in section 108 - most games students from the upper bowl snuck down to around the middle of the second period to fill in a little bit.
