Looks like something may be wrong on the servers end. Now don't you feel stupid for making fun of the double poster earlier DMT?

What time is everyone planning on getting to campus tomorrow. Are people lining up across from the REA and making a mad dash toward the entrance at 8:00? I'm going to be by my self (I just set myself up) I'm pretty sure I am the only law student trying to get students tickets. Anyway I'm hoping to get in line with some people from SS who don't mind me taking off for extended periods. I have class all day Fri, then I'm either going to the malpractice bowl or going to Fargo to see a friend in the hospital. I plan on being there early Fri and early Sat though.

I'm pretty sure Driscol made death threats to the Ludwigs so they don't return to ND. Sorry for the inside joke.

You see that up there... Look up ... Higher Yes that is me and ScottM's sarcasm going over your head. The topic of Sidney Crosby has been discussed many times. In fact I remember discussions about him before using my current name. A quick search - yes there is a search button, reveals this posted by Schmidtdoggydog well over 1 year ago. There is several discussions since then. Crosby Forum Welcome to the site Siouxhockey78, but please don't post something like this until searching for previous discussions. Everyone on this board is familiar with Sidney Crosby, he is easily the hottest prospect since Mario L. Really I'm not trying to be an a-hole, I'm just a very sarcastic person.

Usually when you buy the tickets from the venue box office there is no ticketmaster "convenience charge" but there is still the facility charge. So you save yourself roughly a 10% of the ticket value "convenience charge" by buying them from the venue. At least this is how it used to be.

Sidney Crosby? Is that name for real. I've never heard of him. I've also heard this guy named Gretzky or something is thinking about coming out of retirement and wants to get an education and play hockey, the Sioux should think about looking at him. Anyone else hear anything?

It's tough to argue with INCH's picks. There forward picks are dead on IMO. I was a little suprised with their D picks, I figured Hagemo would be #1. I've seen Gogilinski (sp) play and he is the real deal. He is a much better skater than Hagemo, although this is based on only seeing them play a couple of times. Regardless I think it is easy to say UND has the best incoming Freshman forward class and Minny has the best incoming d-man class. Overall the Sioux probably have the best incoming class in the country, at the very least in the WCHA, I can't say I know anything about the east coast kids, other than Bourque deserves his ranking.

Wild games were pretty reasonable when I lived in the cities. $10 got you a nosebleed seat, but they aren't that bad of seats. Parking can be a problem, but if you know St. Paul you can get by for less than $10. The majority of the fans know hockey and are very into the Wild. The fans were always very into the game, which is odd considering how boring the Wild are.

Good job NHL, you only knew about this for a couple of years. Great job destroying pro hockey in this country. NEW YORK - The National Hockey League will lock out its players Thursday, starting a work stoppage that threatens to keep the sport off the ice for the entire 2004-05 season. The long-expected decision was confirmed by NHL owners Wednesday following a meeting in New York. Management is demanding cost certainty, which players say would be tantamount to salary cap. Even before the announcement, teams already had given commissioner Gary Bettman authority to cancel the season. The sides have not met since a bargaining session last Thursday ended with the parties far apart, and there appears to be almost no chance the season will start as scheduled on Oct. 13. "The present system doesn't work for us," said Jim Rutherford, the president and general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes. "We need a new system. We're all frustrated by it." Owners have contributed $300 million to a league work-stoppage fund to help get them through a lockout, and the union has retained licensing money to help its members. Players vow to resist a salary cap and, with the positions entrenched, a long stoppage is likely, one that could wipe out the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 1919, when the series between Montreal and Seattle was stopped after five games due a Spanish influenza epidemic. The 30 teams _ 24 in the United States and six in Canada _ had been set to start opening training camps on Thursday, the day after the expiration of the current labor contract, first agreed to in 1995 and extended two years later through Sept. 15, 2004. Some players are expected to sign with European leagues, and others could join a six-team, four-on-four circuit called the Original Stars Hockey League, which is set to start play Friday in Barrie, Ontario. Others could go to a revived World Hockey Association, which plans to open Oct. 29 with eight teams playing 76 games apiece. The work stoppage is the first for a North American major league since the 1997-98 NBA lockout canceled 464 games, cutting each club's regular-season schedule from 82 games to 50. It is the third stoppage for the NHL following a 10-day strike in 1992 that caused the postponement of 30 games and a 103-day lockout in 1994-95 that eliminated 468 games, cutting each team's regular-season schedule from 84 games to 48. That lockout ended on Jan. 11, five days before the deadline set by Bettman to scuttle the season. Baseball has had eight work stoppages, the last running for 7 1/2 months in 1994-95. It caused the cancellation of 921 regular-season games over two years and wiped out the World Series for the first time since 1904. While the NFL has had four strikes, including two during the regular season, the sport has enjoyed labor peace since 1987. NHL management claims it needs changes in the labor contract because teams are losing money, $273 million in 2002-03 and $224 million last season, according to the league. The NHL's average salary has risen from $733,000 at the time of the last lockout to $1,830,126 last season, according to the NHL players' association. While NHL revenue rose from $732 million in 1993-94 to $1.996 billion in 2002-3, the league says that player costs have increased from 57 percent of revenue to 75 percent over that period, figures the union disputes. Unlike the other major sports, the NHL's revenue from broadcasting is relatively small, $449 million from national and local contracts and new media in 2002-03, according to the league. The five games of the Stanley Cup finals on ABC averaged just a 2.6 rating last spring and the two on ESPN a 1.2 cable rating, according to Nielsen Media Research. This year's Super Bowl had a 41.3 rating on CBS, while last year's World Series averaged a 12.8 on Fox and this year's NBA finals an 11.5 on ABC.

Nimrod Michigan? What about Nimrod MN.

Have you been in the new rink in SW Fargo? They have protective netting around the entire rinks! It makes me sick trying to watch games in those rinks, the netting is white, which actually is worse than black. It reminds me of watching a steel cage death match. Maybe youth hockey plans to start fighting to the death instead of having overtime?
-
That is how it looked for the WJ evaluation camp. I understand some peoples concerns about the netting. I sat in Schmiddoggydog's seat and his view is very obstructed by the net. I imagine it would be something you would get used to, but for the $$ spent on season tickets you shouldn't have an obstructed view. The puck hitting the girl didn't actually kill her - this is from the Columbus paper. I believe she also had a pre-existing condition - her artery in her neck was already damaged. While it was tragic, it is not like people are constantly getting picked off by pucks. You cannot protect people from everything. Personally I don't pay 100% attention at all times during a hockey game. However if I'm sitting in a seat behind the net, I don't turn away from the play when it is going on. If I'm watching warmups I for sure keep my eyes on the ice all the time. That said I understand the arena's putting up the net to minimize their liability. Likely they are getting a fat deduction in their insurance premiums. Although suing sports teams for getting hit by a ball/puck is nearly impossible. Everything in life has inherent dangers. It is hard to argue a rink is negligent because a hockey put flew into the stands. BTW excellent usage of the word cloak Canuck.

I just realized my wife is graduating in December. Will she be able to use a student ticket after that? This Friday is the Malpractice Bowl so I'm not going to be able to stand in line much. I plan on being there early Fri morning, any one on this board mind if I leave our card with them so I don't lose my place in line? I hate being the guy that leaves and comes back expecting everyone else to let him back in line, but there is no way I can stand in line for two days.

Oshie had 4 goals in the Elite League last weekend. He and Cory Loos are leading the Great Plains team with 4 points. Lee is out after having his knee scoped. I forsee Vandeveldie playing next year in the USHL before coming to UND.

It sounds like Christian is having a tough time in the nets for the Great Plains team. The kid from South has been doing pretty well. Here are the scoring leaders after week one, they don't include this past weekends games. WTF. Who searches back two years to make their first post? I'm a little drunk right now and even in my inebriated state I find it a little odd.

I've been waiting for a chance to use this one.

What exactly does 'flagship university' mean? I notice Montana and Montana State were both included. But in ND and SD the State U's were not included. Wow, has tuition gone up at the UofM. My wife went there for two years (the last being two years ago) and I believe paid less than $6K a year in tuition. Of course that doesn't include all of the damn fees I thought NDSU and UND were bad, they have nothing on the UofM, they charge extra for everything. Plus a parking pass (if your lucky enough to get one) runs about $400 - a semester!

Come on Sooperfan DMT and myself posted links to the discussion of said elite tourny. Usually when something is underlined it means it is a link. You didn't piss anyone off, we're just having fun. Well maybe not DMT, he's still in the recovery stage from his crack addiction. Go back to your thread and click on the link. Or go to the community forum and see the thread - there is a discussion of the games on that thread.

Gifford was not heavily recruited by UND. I think a lot of teams were taking a wait and see approach with him. His upside is huge though, I think it was a mistake to pass him by. There is a good chance he could end up being 6-5+, his dad has to be at least 6-6 and he claims he grew about 5 inches after high school. It is good to hear Gifford signed with a WCHA team it should be fun to see him play at the next level.
-
They will likely update their stats every couple of weeks, that's what they did last year. Elite Hockey This is the site. My cousin and Vandeveldie missed part of the first game on Sat (car trouble). I haven't talked to him at all yet, but from others it sounds like the Great Plains team had a tough time in the net. Neither goalie has ever played a varsity HS game (at least I don't think they have). Lee isn't playing after undergoing knee surgery, so they are still light one D-man. I'm not sure when he's going to be back on the ice, for sure by the start of the HS season.

CC has very few players anyone seems to be familiar with. I wouldn't be surprised if they did well. Either I'm blind (which is likely), or the post you're referring two has been deleted. From what I see Skateshatrick is the only non-homer that placed UND lower than #1, he put them at #2. I don't see the #7 pick anywhere.

Blue Jackets pick up Panzer off waivers The Associated Press - Tuesday, September 07, 2004 COLUMBUS, Ohio The Columbus Blue Jackets claimed center Jeff Panzer off waivers on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Panzer was under contract with the St. Louis Blues but has never played in an NHL game. He appeared in 210 American Hockey League games and had 62 goals and 84 assists over the past three seasons. He had 14 goals and 25 assists in 60 games last year for the Worcester IceCats. Panzer, a native of Grand Forks, N.D., was a four-year letterman at the University of North Dakota under current Columbus associate coach Dean Blais. Panzer led the NCAA in assists in both his junior (44) and senior (55) seasons at North Dakota and topped the nation in scoring in 2000-2001 as a senior with 81 points.

What are you guys seeing with UofWisconsin. I am not seeing that great of a team. I see a team that is really young with a decent goalie that gets hot. I think UofM an UND are more talented...
