I agree it is not that big of a deal, but what Sioux team are you talking about? The Sioux have one freshman D, and I believe he was only dressed for the sat. game.
-
Why is that? They sell as many tickets as they can to students until Thurs, then sell them to the general public. I don't know how accurate it is but the the lady at the ticket counter said that student tickets have NEVER sold out with just students.
-
I just got back from the REA ticket office, I purchased student tickets no problem, and there were exactly 0 people in line.
-
Go to the REA box office. I plan on going there over lunch. I was told they have never sold out of student tickets so I'm not too worried, unless the chick working at the REA was wrong

Cory McLean, Captain of Notre Dame hockey team, 1999 grad of Fargo North. Off the top of my head I can only think of him and Mike McLean from South - played for Army, Pat O'Leary from North (98) played for UND. Some others could have played D1 hockey but chose other sports - Askew from South, Hoffman from North (although that probably isn't very recent).

The Gophers really ticked me off last weekend. They destroyed my prediction that UAA wouldn't win a game this year The Sioux being outplayed by Kato? The Gophs losing to AA? It is like a college hockey twilight zone. I have no idea what to think of this series other than a few certains: The Sioux will have good goaltending. Spirko will get a point in each game. Potulny will end up getting at least a couple of points. I see a 3-3 tie and a 4-2 Sioux win - with an en goal.

I thought I'd recap what I saw this weekend. Yesterday the GP team tied the SW team 5-5. They were down 5-4 with about 4min left and shorthanded when Oshie scored what might be the prettiest goal I've ever seen at any level. He had the puck at in the neutral zone and skated it into the corner of the offensive zone, it looked like he was just going to tie it up to kill some time. Then he made a move for the net, he had two large defensemen basically riding on his back he drove to the net with carrying these two absolutely smoked the goalie, and shelfed a snapshot right under the crossbar. I still don't know how he did it. From what I saw the only problem with him is, he only turns it on about 10% of the time. He was easily the most skilled forward in the tourny. The lines for most of the tourny were: Stadstad - Oshie - Vandeveldie Loos - Willert - Becker Clukey - Postell - Campbell Harren - Selk - Mihulka The first line did most of the scoring, Oshie had at 4 goals and a couple of assists. Stadstad also had 3 or 4. Vandeveldie had a few assists, he spent most of his time forechecking. The second line didn't get scored against the entire tourny - at least not when they were all together. Willert had a few goals. The third line was terrible, they didn't score a point and probably had 3/4 of the goals against scored against them. The fourth line had maybe one goal, but didn't do much. The D were overall pretty weak. Vigen from RR is a monster and probably had the best tourny. Ammerman also had a good offensive showing, he is a great player. Hill from RR and Olimb from Warroad also looked good at times. The kid from South and Hardwick from Warroad struggled most of the time. In net Christian looked really good, he had a shutout the second game. The kid from South really struggled, he let in a few weak goals. IMO Oshie could be a really good recruit, probably the best 06 recruit. His skating may seem a little sloppy but he has incredible hands and a great shot. He is also very strong on his skates and while not the fastest, is far from slow. Vandeveldie is a good player, he is big and fast and works hard all of the time. He is great behind the net, he had a couple of nice assists. He is also a good defensive forward. Lee is still recovering from knee surgery so he didn't play. Others that are D1 prospects IMO: Ammerman is a great skater and a very good offensive D-man. He needs some work at positioning, he was burned a few times. Becker is a very fast, shifty forward. His biggest downside is his size, they have him listed as 5-10, but there is no way he is even that tall. Loos (am biased of course) is a very big power forward. He has great hands and is by far the best forechecker. He is maybe a 1/2 step slower than Oshie and Vandeveldie, and he spends a lot of time in the box. I was really impressed with Vigen, he needs to work on his speed, but he can really hit. He delivered some punishing blows this weekend. He plays great position and puts the puck on net from the point. I could see him playing somewhere. Willert was probably the biggest surprise for me. This kid is big, strong and has a wicked shot. He isn't the fastest player on the ice but he was one of the best. He is only a junior, no offense to the Western ND people, but he should play somewhere else if he wants to improve his game. He was easily the best ND forward I saw. Kuntz didn't play and the kid from Bismarck wasn't even on the roster.

Too bad the "even out" refs from the WCHA will just see this as a reason to call more penalties on both teams. I see MG in the box a lot this season
-
There may be sightings along the ND/MN/MB border also but that is about it. Bears live in the forest, ND doesn't have any trees Black bear are plentiful in MN though, my cousin was lucky enough to get a tag a few years ago. My Grandpa got a Brown (Grizzly) tag in MT about 5 years ago. I never realized the size difference between the Brown and Black until I saw the one he bagged, a 750lb male. They get even bigger up in Alaska and Western CA. I didn't realize you could even hunt in NJ - I thought the entire state was just a big industrial dump
-
I'm sure they have a clause saying you will only use the $8.95 for residental purposes. $40 is probably a good deal if the bars advertise it they should easily make it up in sales. If I wasn't going to Fargo tonight, and watching my cousin play at the REA tomorrow night I'd check it out. Anyone know if any bars in Fargo have the capability to get dataflix? I would think there would be a market for it. There are a number of members on this board that live in Fargo that would likely drink more than $40 if the game was on.

Moved? What was the previous #1? Football has always been #1 at SU. At UND (and for the entire state of ND) #1 Hockey, after that I really don't care.

Thanks for the recap. My theory on the mustache - it looks more like a prison stache than a trucker one, which strikes fear in the Sioux opponents. The downside is none of his teamates will shower with him.
-
Good to know, last year they charged $15 for the elite games. I will fork out the $ to watch my cousin play, but I wasn't going to pay to see the other teams play. Now that I know they are free I will have to check some of them out.
-
The elite team went 0-2-1 last weekend, there two losses came against two of the toughest teams in the tourny - SSM being one of them. Here is the latest scoring leaders Fulton, Jordan, Breck, NW, 8g, 13a

I wish I could agree with DH, from what I've seen with WCHA reffing MJ, MG, MS and AS will be spending a lot of time in the PB this year. Especially MG and MS - remember the "2 minutes for playing physical" penalties Commie had a few years back. I see a repeat of that. Of course if the refs actually called obstruction penalties as they are supposed to be called it would help the Sioux, but I don't have that much faith in the refs. Rather they will call a penalty any time MG or MS rides a guy into the boards. Depending on the ref there are going to be a lot of 10-15 penalties per team games, with neither side having much of an advantage. Most of the refs use the "even-out" BS call way too much. Nice recap schmidty

Tonight 7:00 our time; tomorrow 6:00 our time. Sat's game isn't televised, I doubt anyplace in Fargo will put the web stream through a TV.

Dagwoods and BW3 have been advertising tonights game.

More proof the Blais family is a class act. Hang in there.

At first I was thinking psycho, now I'm thinking troll.

UND didn't recruit Grant, I believe they didn't have any scholarships to offer him. Little Potulny and Irmen are best friends and jumped at the chance to play together. Little Potulny wanted to play with his brother, I don't think UND really tried to recruit him, but the only people that know for sure are the Sioux coaching staff.
-
What Fargo kids are on this elite 2 team?
-
I thought Nate Z was going to Duluth they list him going to St. Cloud under both the UND and St. Cloud previews. He seems like a smart kid I hope he isn't stupid enough to go to SCSU.

Last I heard Marvin was going to join Moreland as co-back up water boys.

Moreland gets no respect, no respect RIP Rodney D.
