I didn't mean to imply they should get rid of Wilson, only the pressure from the parents to replace him will be pretty strong. From what I've seen of Wilson he seems to be a good coach, but I wouldn't say he's the best in the state. His JV coach Curt Smith is the best coach I personally ever had as a player or worked with when I coached. Howard at GFC was USHL coach. Wald in Bismarck is very good coach. Shanley may have the best overall coaching staff with Graveline and the Burgraffs. Matt Malm at GFRR seems to know what he's doing, although I don't know him at all.

Someone could make signs that say "beat the v*g*na from regina!" Sorry I couldn't resist.

My understanding is that Johnson's comp package is over six figures in Lincoln. Unless a boatload of "variable comp" is involved, it ain't happening.
-
I think we may be underestimating how much UND will offer Johnson. There are some deep pockets involved in the hockey program. That plus there may be some under the table hints that Johnson would be the frontrunner if Hakstol was to leave or not work out. Just some speculation, but who knows?

I hadn't heard Erickson was hired, who did he replace? I agree, Erickson is a very good coach, I wonder if he was hired to eventually replace Smith. If South doesn't win State in the next couple of years the Southside parents yearly calls for Wilson's head may actually be heard by the South administration. I remember the good old days when the North side ruled South in hockey Schmidtdoggydog needs to move to the Northside, his kid has a heck of a shot .... of course he's just out of diapers.

Sioux rejects = AA's future. At least Beaverson will share something in common with one of his teamates.

Roche is a very offensive D-man. For UND he was expected to join or even lead the rush. He also dropped in off the point. His defensive skills were not as great, he isn't the 240 lb guy that can toss players out of the crease, or hang out in the neutral zone looking for someone with their head down to end their career. From what I've seen Atlanta likes their D-men to join the play and contribute offensively.

Below is the top 25 scorers in the state from last year, note the absence of North players. North's leading scorer Cusey had 22 points, Klenow had 18. These are respectable numbers for a second line player. I realize North only loses one impact senior (who was injured most of last year). But I still don't see how people can list them as one of the favorites. Again they have no scoring and Okland's numbers last year were 3.0GAA and 89.5% SV, respectable but not great. I hope I'm proven wrong but I doubt North will make it in the top 4 in the East. 1. RR 2. FS 3. GFC 4. You have to give them a chance to get established. Women's hockey will never be as popular as the men, but they are still fun to watch. Of course that may be because the only game I've seen was in a free box with all the free beer I could drink (thanks Nate) .... come to think of it, it could have been a squirt game going on and I'd have had a good time. Seriously, I'd rather watch women's hockey than men's BB. They may not have the scholorships for a few years but the REA is still an impressive recruiting tool.

I have to give in and agree that there may be a slight advantage at state to GF teams. My senior year we (North) were ranked #1 in the state, beating every team in the east at least once. We ended up playing RR in the semi's and lost in double OT. Being it was during the afternoon on a school day there wasn't too many from Fargo there. Still I've never thought much of the crowd when I was playing, and I'd much rather have the chance to play at the REA (even the old one) than have to play in Bismarck or even Fargo. My junior year was the first year of the EDC/WDC and EDC was in Fargo. I believe Central still smoked us like 10-1 in the championship game. Also when I was in high school (I think they still do this) North traveled to Bismarck and Minot every other year, and to Devils Lake opposite years. So we made one western trip every year. Also we hosted only one western team every year, and Minot never came to Fargo even though we traveled there twice. Again this was 8-10 years ago (man I'm gettin old ) I agree Minot has some real talent and should be good next year. I would probably put South at #1. North will not be in the top five unless Oakland plays consistantly well, which he has not done in the past. They still have no scoring and some discipline problems that are ignored by the coaching staff. If North ever wins a state title with Smith behind the bench I'll pay everone on this board $100.* *Disclaimer - I will not actually give anyone on this board $100 under no circumstances This statement was clearly puffing and only used to prove my point that Smith is a terrible coach. It is in no way enforceable. How's that for a disclaimer Skates, Schmidty and any other legal experts?
-
I didn't realize GFC, GFRR, FN, FS, GPR, and WF played their home games at the REA. North has nobody that can score, most of their team is likely to be suspended for drugs at any given time, and they have terrible coaching. This is from someone who played for North (a few years ago).

I thought SCSU was a two-year college. UND has Native American studies because of the large Native population in the area, same goes with Scandanavian studies. Why does SCSU need a Jewish studies program? I've never lived in St. Cloud but I find it hard to believe they have a large Jewish population. Glad to see they're focusing on important issues such as making every minority group happy rather than balancing their budget. No wonder MN has such high taxes yet always seems to be in a deficit.

It's now 10:00 Wed. They were supposed to announce that Hakstol gets the job today. Why would they wait if they were not going to open it up externally? The Herald staff should fired and put in the stocks. PCM can take over as editor and the sole reporter and cameraman. The rest of the board members will work the mailroom and presses. The Gopher/Bulldog fans on the board can take over janitorial duties.

Well worth it if the tour is one-on-one with a blond co-ed and involves a sleepover.

Thanks Sic. I must have been thinking of this rule - 13.7.1.3.2 Transfer Student If a student-athlete attending a four-year institution desires to transfer and that institution provides the permission required (per Bylaw 13.1.1.3), it is permissible for a second institution to provide the student-athlete one official visit to that institution
-
I believe that rule can be waived by the departing school. So if Ziggy leaves w/ UND's ok then he wouldn't have to sit out a year. I'm not 100% on that rule.
-
Rumor is Ziggy is looking to go elsewhere. I have nothing to back this up other than rumor and hearsay so I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Things may change with DB leaving, he never really gave Ziggy a chance last season, Hakstol may be different. I may be wrong but didn't Ziggy and Lammy split starts when both were on Lincoln? I cannot see Brandt getting cut, he is the only real tested goalie.

2. Gophers 3. Badgers 4. CC 5. Dogs t5. Denver Denver still has the best incoming freshman I've seen play (I haven't seen that many) in Stastny. They lose a lot of the little talent they had last year. CC and UW both have young talented teams. The Gophers have a good incoming class and return a strong core of players, little Potulny will be on top of WCHA scorers if he stays healthy. UMD loses too much to stay in the top 3, but I wouldn't be suprised if they prove me wrong.

Mario Lamoureux had a nice showing at the select 16 festival. Scorer
-
Where did you get this? The Select 17 festival starts next week, I thought they picked the national team after that. It would be pretty cool to have 1/2 of the Dmen come from MN, and 1/3 committed to the Sioux.

What in the heck are you babbling about now? Milton? Is that you? For the last time I didn't take your damn stapler!
