Great team that really can’t afford to stumble much. A lot of grit and talent though.
-
Maybe Quinnipiac

Great win! A split at UMD is perfectly fine. I am still a big scheel fan, but Thome has definitely earned his time to start. scheel will be back.
-
Agreed, IDEALLY. But a transfer wouldn’t be horrible even from a mentor ship or compete standpoint. Maybe it isn’t even needed. I’m sure the coaches will know more as the semester rolls on.
-
Judging two seperarwte people and situations the same way would be pretty ignorant. Maybe he just want to start his grad work somewhere else where he can play football. Who knows?
-
Is he a grad transfer? And only 1 year of eligibility? If so I’d definitely like to see UND take a shot at him. He has certainly played well in the Alerus and has FCS success. Give the young guys a year to develop a bit.
-
Which sucks because we used to just own them!
-
I’m not saying scheel was great, but my concern is way way more on the defense than scheel.
-
Well that sucked
-
Don’t have to like it, but putting it all on scheel is like some Vikings fans putting it all on cousins.
-
Disagree... he may have let in some, but has also made some stellar saves tonight. UMD has had some great opportunities and is a good team. scheel has had some bad night, but tonight is not one of them. More on the D, with poor turnover and not locking up their guys. Pretty much every Duluth goal I have seen, I’ve said, wow, great goal.
-
Oh I didn’t see that... interesting. Kid must have some potential though.
-
That’s a 50/50 call. UMD guy did get bumped into scheel. If roles were flipped we would be screaming for a goal. I don’t love it, but I get it. Overall, great back and forth game ... two more period ... get it done!

Looks like he has offers from penn state, cincy, Idaho and Rutgers.
-
Not that it really matters, but I believe Merrimack is also independent. So yeah ...
-
He might, just not sure what you base that off of? One very limited game? Don’t get me wrong, he made the most of his opportunity, but there were a lot of safe plays in that game too. he could very well be the guy, BUT given there is 1 partial college game between all 3 of them, I think it is wide open.

Lets talk QB for next season. A lot yet to be decided. But initial thoughts ... who get's to start the season? Tommy Schuster 5' 11/192lbs Reid Neal 6' 2/175lbs Quincy Vaughn 6'4/230lbs We all saw what Tommy did against SHSU, which was critical. Seemed calm, collected, and got the job done. I don't think the coaches really opened up the playbook with him, and its not a large enough, or impressive enough sample size to say, "This is the guy". That being said, he has the most experience with the program and the offense, so he certainly has a chance. From what I have read, Reid seems to have had a good prep career, but I don't really know much about him. I would like to see him put on some weight. Then there is Vaughn. To me, this is the shiny new toy, and I am excited to see what he can do. Lots of hype around the kid, certainly has the size and athletic ability. Just hope he can be a true difference maker. I don't care about a redshirt here, so long as he can be an immediate impact. I could see him being the day 1 starter; certainly beneficial that both him and Neal are on campus already. Or will the coaches bring in a transfer or drop down. Time will tell, but it is nice to have some young talent in the QB position to get excited about.

Does anyone have any leads on recruits that we are going after or trying to sign in our next signing day?

Kind of disappointed I’ve wasted my time watching this. Just not enough talent on this roster. That being said, it’s only Sathers first year, but it’s easy to get impatient with this program. -
So unless I have this wrong, next years Nashville game could likely be the second game we play against Penn State. Seems likely that we would land in the Midwest regional which would mean going to Allentown. I supposed there is the possibility of going to Colorado too.

Should be a fun week, the father of one of UMDs back up goalies is on my Men’s league team, so I’ll be rocking a lot of Sioux gear before my game this week

Huge win tonight! I don’t care who you are playing, they came back, played tough, got the W and extended their point lead. I almost like that they played from behind all weekend because it prepares the guys for that situation, which could happen as you play better teams. that being said, I was very impressed with Miami and their goaltending this weekend. Hope we can get Poolman back for next weekend.

This has turned into an absolute must win, with Duluth losing. Have to capitalize on the opportunity to extend the point lead.
