  1. Yep, home his game translated to the college level.
  2. I’d love a big surprise commitment tomorrow
  3. This is big. Now if we can land the QB from Canada and hopefull a dropdown, then this team starts to look much different next year. Only other piece that really needs to be addressed is nose guard. I know we are still undersized on the d line, but that is something out current players should be working on now. i hope the coaches don’t get cute with redshirts next year. Don’t burn them for minimal usage, but don’t keep the redshirts if they can actually make an impact now.
  4. Great guy! I grew up a huge Gopher fan as a kid and always remember seeing Woog. Watching his son play, who I briefly met years later. My Dad played golf with him once as well and had great things to say. College hockey lost a good one. Prayers and condolences to the Woog family.
  5. Really happy to see Quincy Vaughn is taking a visit this weekend. QB currently committed to Old Dominion. Nice size at 6' 4" and 230. Add that to Schuster and Reid Neal and I think you have a pretty nice young base, still need a transfer/drop down though. https://undfootball360.com/news/hawks-set-for-big-recruiting-weekend/
  6. Yeah, he has been talked about quite a bit on here. Hopefully his game transitions well.
  7. Could anyone tell me why we still seem to under utilize the TE position? We seemed to throw to them a bit more this year with Rudy gone, but still not as much as we could have. I would have those they would mix those big guys in more often, especially in like 3rd and short situations. Do the coaches just not like those types of plays? Do our TEs have issues catching the ball? Was our OL just requiring the blocking help? Just curious for some input. If I recall Riviere was a pretty nice get when he committed, can he become another receiving threat?
  8. What are you typically looking for when you say a deep threat? Just speed and hands? Or do you think we need speed, hands and height to fight for the deep jump balls? I know I've seen you mention Greg Hardin, so I assume someone of a similar mold. He wasn't overly tall, was he?
  9. I was really hoping Mikey Griebel was going to come in and make a splash the minute he got here, and we just haven't seen much from him yet. I know he has had some injuries along the way which hasn't helped either. Hoping that as some people graduate, and he develops that he can become more of an impact player, I still feel like if you can get the kid the ball he has some speed and shiftiness to make plays. Certainly excited for Jack Wright too; really hope his game can translate to the next level. Biggest factor for next year has got to be QB though. I liked what I saw from Schuster, but nobody can predict what he will be based on 1 game. We need to add a bunch of depth, Bubba and Danny need to be hitting that position hard, and not just for the future, for the now. RB depth is a concern too. Skokna is only going to get better if he stays health, and Creighton Mitchell is the new shiny toy I'm excited to see on the field. What we are missing is a big boy that can run... any more moose up in Manitoba?
  10. That's too bad. I remember going to a UND SCSU playoff football game back in the early 2000s (03 or 04) and it was packed (Of course there were a lot of UND fans). If I remember right I feel like we won on a FG by Glas, but I could be wrong.
  11. Here's the thing, since you clearly don't like any of the other responses, though you cannot blame people for calling you a troll with this one: - There are far worse things a 16 year old commit could tweet than #GoSioux. Pretty harmless compared to what a lot of kids put on social media, and remember these are kids. They don't always think about what they are writing from other perspective. - I have know idea what this kids background or family history is, do you? Maybe his family is a bunch of die hard fans, and have been for a long time. If parents call the team the Fighting Sioux, the kid probably will too. - Maybe he recognizes that the Fighting Sioux has a historical significance with the fan base, and even though the official name is now fighting hawks, he is excited about that tradition. Just because they are not technically the Fighting Sioux anymore, doesn't mean you erase it from the history books. No personally, I love the Fighting Sioux name and logo, but I also accept that we are the Fighting Hawks. I wear Sioux gear, I wear Hawks gear, but don't kid yourself, that just because you have an opinion over the name that everyone else should just align to that. In my opinion, the only thing sad and delusional, is judging a 16 year old kid, who is excited about the next potential phase of his life, on a public forum because he referenced one team name over another. How petty is that? You're going to call into question a kids character and judgement over something that insignificant? You have kids in sports (UND, NDSU, SDSU, USD UofM, etc.) that have felony drug issues, have faced various types of assault charges, have been drunk and disorderly, steroid issues, publicly fighting on the bar scene, the list goes on. My recommendation would be to get off your high horse, rather than judging this kid, who I'm guessing you have never met, and know nothing about. Sure, he could be a moron with character issues, poor judgement, no common sense, but without knowing that, its probably best to not chastise him on a public forum; and there is no way to know that based on that simple hashtag that you seem to hate so much.
  12. I don't see why you wouldn't at least evaluate him that way, or let him give it a shot, if the potential is there and he is interested. I no nothing about the kid, but we an certainly use competition and depth at that spot.
  13. I said it, as I have in every series, and as I will continue to say, so long as the team continues this awesome run. Hockey is all about superstitions, and I'm just doing my part.
  14. This thread is about UND recruiting, can we stop the UND/NDSU pissing match now?
  15. That would be cool, does Joe Protheroe have any eligibility left? I hear he is really good at football.
  16. Who is Coach Klieman? What sport? Is that Kent State?
  17. Thanks! So what are the thought on this kid? Obviously SUU wasn't very good, but how much of that is on the QB?
  18. Anything less than a sweep .... blah blah blah ..... unacceptable!
  19. I don't know anything about Helbig, but if he were to transfer, wouldn't he have to sit a year? So we would still be needing more for next season. I'd like to see them look hard for a FBS grad transfer. I doubt we will find another Braden Hanson, but maybe you can get someone to step in who has good experience.
  20. I wouldn't say everyone is focused on Cedric, so much as there was a single "what if" comment that got blown out of proportion. Now, if he was interested in coming to UND, I'd be interested in having him. On principal, I understand what Geaux_Sioux is saying, but I don't think our program is in a position to turn away anyone with talent that could potentially help us (with the exception of bringing in kids that have significant issues; criminal records, booted from other teams, etc). String together some winning seasons, playoff appearances, playoff wins, and maybe a championship and we can start being picky. Beggars can't be choosers, and seeing this program in the D1 era, I don't think we can be choosers. I guarantee if the kid came in, competed, and played well, nobody would care about the commitment to try the FBS route. We have preached the need for competition and depth on here, especially at the QB position. I'll take anyone, with talent, who is interested. That being said, unless it is actually announced that the kid wants to transfer, the whole conversation is moot.
  21. I would say the logic of this whole conversation is off. Isn't the addition of the scoreboard an upgrade put in place by The Ralph, to maintain their own building? Not a reward for performance or lack there of. They do this type of thing every year ... you put in a first rate building, you want to keep it that way. That being said, if someone really wants to compare program success, the sample size should be larger than the last 2 seasons (The only bad seasons hockey has had in the past 15 or 16 years) Regardless, I do agree that nobody is popping champagne about UND Football. Making the playoffs is nice and all, but it didn't even seems like something to get overly excited about, give how we played the last few weeks. We were exactly smoking teams, and we played some pretty bad ones. I think the reality is that UND had some talent, but no depth. We lacked consistency and coaching; especially situational coaching. Bubba and Co. were all to often just fine settling for a FG or a punt, and even when they would take a chance the call seemed fairly boneheaded. To me, Bubba seems like a really nice guy, I just don't think he is the guy to get this program where the fans would like to see it. I think by making the playoffs, he secures is position next season, because they won't want to buy out his contract; but short of doing something amazing next year, I don't see him getting an extension. I could be way off on this, just my personal opinion. Hopefully, Chaves (despite what he tweets) has an ongoing list of potential coaches.
  22. I don't look at those number, but I could have sworn Bryce Blair shrunk year over year, haha. I know that isn't true, but the kid would not gain weight!
  23. Correct, there were few bright spots. Mainly wanzek and toivenen. Overall, a horrible game for UND and a few hours of my life that I won’t get back.
