  1. Not playing dump and chase would be one adjustment ... both teams have to deal with ice conditions and rink issues, not just one. At least we had a fan base there, more than Miami anyway. Bottom line is they just didn't get it done. Better come to work today though!
  2. Also well put .... A loss I can deal with, A loss like we had tonight it much harder to handle. Time to win and get lucky!
  3. Which is not all bad, he is a guy who should stay and develop. Can anyone imagine if we had Nelson here as a senior. That is the scoring touch we lack
  4. Love everything about this post! GO SIOUX!!! get in the tourney and its a new season!
  5. I hope he stays, but I think you make a good point. He could be great with the right talent around him, but he may leave just for a new opportunity to showcase his talent. We'll see.
  6. Schmaltz is probably the only guy that could leave IF he wanted and I don't think he does. That being said, I think he could be great next year with the new class of talent. We don't really have any great offense. Johnson shows some promise, but we definitely need some new scoring to come in.
  7. It had everything to do with adjustment. Miami was playing teriffic D, and prevent us from getting quality shots, we did nothing to change that.
  8. Believe whatever you want, but who do you want that has had more success than Hak? You want someone, then someone has to be available. Nobody is going to fire someone with Haks numbers. Can you imagine any other program firing a guy with Hak's numbers? It just doesn't make sense.
  9. I like Cary Eades, I wish they had kept him here over Berry. But for as many draft picks as this team has, they are not a high talent class. Most of these kids will probably never see NHL ice. This is not the high talent picks like Toews, Oshie, Parise, Stafford. It sounds like we may have some of those coming in next year, but a draft pick is only a number on paper. You only have to watch this team to realize this team does not have the talent we have seen over the last 10 years. Are they good, YES. Are they great, NO. A few more pieces to the puzzle and they could be. We have a strong defense ... a few top end scorers .. a Dzingel, a Czarnik, a Archibald ... you have a whole new outlook.
  10. Which makes most think of UND fans as morons. He has been more successful than most. Maybe Miami fans will chant to fire Blaisi if they are losing tomorrow. Or maybe the Gopher should fire Don because they lost tonight. All good coaches lose games ... ask Dean Blais, Red Berenson, Jerry York, Jack Parker Etc. The difference, all those coaches have championships ... but they have also coached for many more years. Keep Hak in place, he will get one, and probably a few. It will happen.
  11. I don't want to turn this into a Hakstol debate thread, but name a coach with better results over the last decade that you will replace him with. To replace a coach, you need a better option. That being said, I do think he made some mistakes tonight, not adjusting to Miami's play, not calling a timeout after the STUPID STUPID icing at the end of the second. Calling a timeout with a few seconds left in the game. And with that officiating, it would have been nice to seem him get fired up and in the officials face a bit. All that being said, I don't think tonights game is indicative of his career as a whole. He has had success competing and recruiting, and when a better option is available I may be open to new options. For now Hak is the coach, he is the best option and he is a title away from being regarded as one of the most decorated and successful coaches in the program. Player need to be held accountable too, and tonight they did not perform. Upperclassmen looked lost, and the freshman truly looked like freshman.
  12. haha yeah what was that about. Most impressive thing about tonight was not letting Miami score when we pulled the goalie as early as we did. And missing a few open nets in spectacular fashion was impressive in its own regard.
  13. Horrible missed call by the officials. They were awful tonight, but they did not cost UND the game... the players did. Though I would debate that the officiating was just about as bad as UNDs play.
  14. Could not disagree more. 1st period and beginning of the second is where they played the strongest. The entire second half of the game, is where they dropped off. They allowed Miami to clog up the neutral zone, and prevent them from ever getting the puck deep or getting a quality shot. Almost all shots were from way out to the side, and if the D ever took a shot they hesitated until Miami was in a position to block it. UND got beat in every area of the game tonight. They better show up tomorrow, and pray for some help. This is still a team that could make some noise in the NCAA tourney, but they will need some help to even make it at this point.
  15. Agreed, officiating was awful, and the bounces were bad too, but the boys just did not take care of business either. They let Miami dictate the game
  16. Miami showed up tonight, UND did not. One of the worst performance I've seen by UND in over 10 years of being a fan. No crisp passing, no forechecking, majority of shots were low quality, and without rebound opportunities. Did UND not watch film from the big win over Miami? Crisp passes quick shots ... every time the D got the puck tonight they waited and waited to shoot. Starman nailed it, they need to get pressure down the middle, and never did. I like Hak, but he made no adjustment throughout the game, and allowed Miami to play a style where all they had to do was clog up UND, a ton of neutral zone play tonight, which makes for a low energy boring game. They completely shut us down, and we did nothing about it. Miami deserved to win tonight, and UND better win tomorrow if they want any chance to keep playing, not that they deserve it after that performance. This team CAN be dangerous, but they looked much more like the team we saw at the beginning of the season. Extremely disappointing.
  17. Sorry, this is a dumb statement, both universities are fine schools. Sounds like some Sioux fans (rightfully so) have some sour grapes over lack of success in UND basketball and UND football over the past few years. I know I'm ready to see some consistency and success, and it doesn't help that in this slump, NDSU has won 3 football championship and already been dancing twice, and has had quite a bit of national attention. We'll get there though, it just take time and a combo of the right players and coaches. The girls are dancing, hockey has been one of the most dominant programs over the past decade (though missing a championship to go with it). But we'll get there ... Congrats to NDSU on the big win, they looks like a improved team over the one we saw in Grand Forks, though if UND had played like that all season, I think we would be dancing too. Good luck to the Bison in the next round.
  18. I hope so though, I would love to see ohio st, and penn st improve. Improved play across the board is only better for college hockey. Even a few years ago, I was glad to see the Goofers retain Bjugstad. Its good for the game to keep the talent in the league and see improvement on all teams.
  19. Didn't even know he still had that possibility. Would be great to see him back though!
  20. What was the verdict on the Schuller injury? Did they say on tv? I had both the basketball and hockey games rolling...
  21. Hope so, CIT is certainly not the big dance, but more basketball and a chance for these seniors to play and win more is always a good thing!
  22. Fair enough. Brekke certainly would have improved this team a lot; still disappointed in this game with the players we have.
  23. I do give them credit. I said they played terrific last night. I am saying they didn't carry it over to tonight. You are correct they played a dominant team in a hostile place, though playing the butt off .. Not quite. Bad shooting percentage, not great D, playing tough they could have kept it closer than the final score. What was frustrating was missing the easy layups, even with their O rebounds which actually seemed pretty good. Even down 2 players they still missed a lot of opportunities. Glad they made it to the championship, just wish we saw high level team that they can be. Like I said inconsistency has been pretty evident this season. Too bad we will lose so much talent this year, could be a while until we're back in this game, but who know.
  24. They did, but like you said brekke has been gone all season. We moved on from him a long time ago, and we still had plenty of talent to compete.
  25. Let's not make excuses, we played fine yesterday. Out guys just did not show up tonight. We left slot of points out there. Very disappointing to miss a NCAA tourney like that. You miss on a good game it's one thing, you get smoked like that it's a whole other.
