  1. So much for that. I would have expected a little more from Dave St Peter too.
  2. If this is true, I've lost ALL respect for him.
  3. It seems like we have two arguments here: 1. Do we pick a new name or have no nickname? Strong opinions on both sides of the argument, all of which are very understandable 2. Is no nickname an option? or would that leave us in violation of the agreement with the NCAA? This argument hinders the outcome our our first argument, and there is not one person on this message board who is not speculating on the actual answer, and can give a definitive truth to whether or not the NCAA would accept remaining just "University of North Dakota". As has been mentioned, the first thing this task force and President Kelley need to do is confirm with the NCAA whether or not North Dakota/No Nickname is an acceptable path. If they have already done so, they need to make it crystal clear to the public. This would clear the way to make a informed vote on our first argument. -If the NCAA approves the use of remaining University of North Dakota, there will be much debate as to what we will be going forward and why. As I stated earlier both sides of this argument hold merit. -If the NCAA does not approve the use of remaining University of North Dakota, we all save ourselves alot of debate and discussion and will likely move forward with Roughriders (based on the conscensus of these threads). There are alot of strong and conflicting opinions on this website, but I do believe the vast majority are in the consencus that we do not want the intangible names. If Spirit, Pride, Blaze, Force are in the top 3 then this committee is not doing their job (A job which to an extent they have already not been doing).
  4. Agreed, I think that would put the majority of this argument to rest. If "North Dakota" is acceptable, it will likely be the favorite. If "North Dakota" is not acceptable. Roughriders will likely be the favorite. But we should at least have all of the information, prior to a vote.
  5. haha, nice. I didn't even catch that one first time around.
  6. ok, here is my summation from other threads. North Dakota has been my 1st pick. Roughriders is my second, Cavalry is surprisingly not too bad. Disappointed Nokota didn't make the top 15, and I think Flickertails is better than the majority of that list. I DO understand why there are people who want a new nickname, and if that is there opinion then I respect that. What I don't respect is trying to use BS logic and trying to play pseudo lawyer to demean other people's opion that University of North Dakota would be a suitable option. I am incredibly disappointed in the list put out by this committee, but as other posters pointed out ... anyone who even entertains Bison Slayers as a legitimate option, should not be taken seriously. Overall this entire process has been a pathetic failure. SO .... North Dakota or NoDaks Roughriders (like some of the logos ideas that have been tossed around) Cavalry
  7. But I'm already so tired from having this argument on like 5 other threads
  8. All hail Mafia! This is so true. It is the direction of this situation, the country and world. Nobody can have hurt feelings, everybody gets a trophy, nobody loses and everybody wins (except for those with opposing view). All view matter, unless they are not PC. Scary stuff, and a mentality I will definitely not use to raise my children. Go out, play the game, play hard, if you lose, you work hard and try again. So sick of this liberal, PC bull. Spot on Mafia.
  9. Let's not get crazy now... haha
  10. They really need to fix this voting process. Not sure why this hasn't already been addressed.
  11. That was the logo I wanted for nokota. Really cool logo, I like the teddy one too. Logos will definitely help sell a new name.
  12. because its the Forum and a BIG chunk of their readers would love to see us land something that ridiculous.
  13. Absolutely remove those, but I need about another 6 taken off of that list. Seems like the majority conscensus is Roughriders, North Dakota, and Cavalry, which I am actually ok with. North Stars has a surprising number of votes, and while I'd love to see the Minnesota Fans heads explode, I don't want to endure the well warranted ridicule that comes with using that name.
  14. ok so minus the controversial University of North Dakota, we are really left with a copy "realistic" options. Roughriders Cavalry NoDaks Thoughts on these? IF North Dakota is not on the final list, I would actually place a vote for any of those. The rest of the names on that list are all a joke, and my biggest fear is ending up with Spirit, Pride and Sundogs. Also, have they made any changes to the original voting process? Will it only be those with a vested interest, or is this still going to be open everyone in the world?
  15. Ugh Touche
  16. Look at that Sic! We agree on something!
  17. Which is a totally legit opinion. I'm not arguing that at all. If you think its stupid to have no-name it is understandable and I can at least respect that view. It is the people arguing that North Dakota is not actually an option, because they want to play lawyer. If you have an opinion, state it (as you have done), but don't try to place legal loophole just to shut down the other opinions that you don't care for. That was my whole point.
  18. Such a true statement. I actually though that with some of who they included on this committee, this situation might be handled well. But I have definitely lost some respect for a few of these individuals. The whole process could not have been handled worse. Nokota- Unique Name/Holds ties to North Dakota (Not on the list) Spirit/Force/Pride/Etc - (on the list) WTF?
  19. Do you realize how ridiculous it is that the name of the state is even deemed controversial though. I understand people wanting a new nickname, it totally makes sense to me. What doesn't make sense are some of the arguments people are throwing out there to eliminate the use of just North Dakota. People don't have to like North Dakota, just like I don't like Sun Dogs, but I'd rather hear everyone state an opinion that I disagree with, over rambling on their BS arguments and trying to sounds like they are an NCAA attorney. At least I can respect an honest opinion.
  20. Wow you are inconsistent. Like I said before, you are simply twisting your own interpretations to support your own opinions. University of North Dakota - Not ok; Need "official" nickname. Contains word Dakota, but word placement is ok University of North Dakota North Dakota - Not ok; 1st Dakota is ok, 2nd Dakota is not ok University of North Dakota Nodaks - ok, still contains word Dakota, but placement is ok. Includes NoDaks which reference North Dakota, but as it is missing the letters -ota it is acceptable. This is not the NCAA's logic, this is your interpretation of an agreement to loophole in your opinion and exclude others.
  21. What about University of North Dakota NoDaks? you are referencing Dakota? Is that out too then?
  22. Doesn't matter, they still use Dakota. That f-ing offensive.
  23. I'll pacify you right now with redundancy ... University of North Dakota North Dakota (WHICH THEY WOULD NEVER GO BY) Placement of the first Dakota (acceptable), Placement of the second Dakota (unacceptable). You logic and stupidity amazes me.
  24. The notion of using "North Dakota" would be to operate as is. If it is on the list, then it is currently in play. What about that concept is so hard to grasp?
