  1. Didn't realize that. Still hate Stars.
  2. I've already stated my complete displeasure with North Stars, but would still take that over Sun Dogs. It would be one of the worst nickname concepts in the NCAA.
  3. Doing it for that sole intent is a bad idea, Yes. If it was a different name that made sense, then go for it; but being the Northstars, when we are not the Northstar state, just makes us look dumb, and completely incapable of coming up with our own name. Just Stars, could not be more boring; and Stars is not on the list, Northstars is. For the record I agree, Roughriders, but I do still like North Dakota or NoDaks.
  4. Comments on the Star Tribune article are already blowing up on the consideration of the use of North Stars. Further proof how stupid it is. Great name, but not for a North Dakota team.
  5. Roughriders or North Dakota/NoDaks
  6. This would be awful
  7. Agree with all of this. Still like the ideas of North Dakota or NoDaks, but this just does look like it is going to happen. No Hawks for me. No Kumbahyas for me North Stars would be cool, if we were in East Grand Forks Roughriders has a good sound, with some really cool logo potential. Cavalary should have been in the mix. This committe just keeps showing how stupid they are and KG should be banned from any University committee moving forward.
  8. Chill buddy, I was say in general. Not saying that EVERYONE who likes North Dakota, like NoDaks.
  9. how so
  10. I like just North Dakota, but accept that it probably will not happen and for fair reasons. I am good with NoDaks. I am all about Roughriders, if the others do not work out. Anything else should basically be dismissed now.
  11. Nope, I was reading too fast trying to catch up on posts, totally misread
  12. Seriously? You know what a sundog is, right?
  13. Completely agree, I've been saying that for a while Nodaks would be a way of basically keeping North Dakota, but with a nickname
  14. Good lord, that hadn't even crossed my mind. Seriously, they are stretching for ways to eliminate options they don't want.
  15. I'm not quite as worried about the energy of the staff, as much as the skill of our players. I feel like we have been waiting for the quarterbacks to live up to their potential since they were brought in, especially Mollberg, who was really hyped up. Hopefully this is a breakout year for him (or Bartels, or Studsrud), and hopefully Georges and Reed will stretch the field a bit. Our offense doesn't have to win us games, but it does need to keep us competitive and chew up the clock while our D dominates.
  16. Love the optimism here, and I think we all agree that our D will be our strength; but i need to see some answers on offense before I'm willing to state we have a shot at the conference title. Really hope that is the case though. We should learn alot in the first 3 week by how we compete with Wyoming and NDSU. It is essential that we are competitive and make those close games. This team really needs an FBS win to get some momentum, we have come close in the past, but it is time to win one. Very excited for the season to start!
  17. My thoughts exactly
  18. For sure, there isn't a season the goes by that we cannot win a title. Hasn't quite happened yet, but we have certainly been capable.
  19. gotta kick em out the same night, less to worry about in the morning. Back on topic .... I need more football new. I'm way too pumped for football season right now.
  20. My irritation with the committee has nothing to do with whether they do or do not like my personal choices. When you give any legitimate consideration to Bison Slayers, or some of the other names that made the initial cut, it casts doubt on how serious you are taking the job. A handfull of people may think that is funny or clever, but as a committe that is supposed to be doing what is best for the University, you need to look beyond a handfull of people. If only a handfull of people supported the use of "North Dakota/No Nickname", I think the same approach would apply. However, many support that option, and do think it is in the best interest of the University (whether that is right or wrong is a who different argument). So, my opinion of the committee is really based on what I have seen them do and not do, not on if they pick my favorite choice. I know I am not the only one to express concerns on this either.
  21. Probably not, but it really would give them a good concenscus of what people think.
  22. Whatever, I'm for North Dakota. If that is not cool, then I guess Roughriders and Cavalry, but please please please not Spirit, Pride or other intangibles. Its just embarassing.
  23. The point you fail to capture is that not everyone want to remain North Dakota because they wasn to be the unofficial Fighting Sioux. Sure there is a group of people that have that reasoning, but that same group of people will refer to UND as the Fighting Sioux regardless. A lot of us just prefer North Dakota over the other options that have been presented. Now I'll admit that Roughriders and even Cavalry have grown on me, but I still don't love them. And I certainly prefer No Nickname over Spirit, Blaze, Pride, Sun Dogs, etc. So when you are going to rant about something becoming ridiculous, check the rest of your jibberish at the door. Essentially, what you said was "if you have an opinion thats fine, but you're opinion is wrong so shut up". Ultimately the most ridiculous part was your comments. As we have said before, first step should be for the university to confirm with the NCAA if North Dakota can be used, then publicly state it. That would alleviate alot of argument right there.
  24. Incredibly sad. Apparently the committee only represents itself and its opinions. Supposed to represent the school and those with a vested interest in the school (ticketholders, students, alumni), oddly those opinions don't seem to be reflected through public statements like his. Its almost as though the committee is saying "We need to make it appear as though we care what people think, but actually we already have an agenda in place" Hope this get done the right way.
  25. So much for that. I would have expected a little more from Dave St Peter too.
