Well I think it would be pretty fun if NDSU picked up hockey, though I'm aware that would be very unlikely...ANYWAY, back on topic. Can't wait for the football game.
-
Already happy with our hockey program, but it would be a blast to have NDSU pick up the sport. I'm all about expanding college hockey whether it is more B10 schools, PAC schools or NDSU. My preference would be NDSU, as it is local and there is already history there.

The UND-NDSU rivalry certainly isn't what is was, but it also would not take much to get back to that same level. There is enough family history with many of the students, that a couple of good games would really re-ignite the rivalry. Clearly the schools know that this is a big game with high demand, or the price of the ticket wouldn't be justified. NDSU is obviously the stronger football school right now, nobody is arguing that. But if UND found a way to win, or even make it a close game, that would go a long way in getting things going between fans again. Also, can't one of your Alumni just pony up the cash to get you guys a hockey team? You could play in the Scheels arena and there are certainly plenty of hockey fans in the region. I would love to see that happen, and to create a hockey rivalry there. Didn't take too long for Penn St to get competitive (though they are playing in the B10 Intramural League). I remember hearing about Minnesota losing to Wisconsin back when Wisco had a club team. All it takes is a crazy game like that for a rivalry to really get going. Make this an annual football game, get the Nickel back out; and get NDSU a hockey team!

Agreed, goaltending is a questionmark without Massa, but we'll see. I'm hoping UND ends up surprising a bit. I could see us slipping to 2nd or even 3rd, especially if we lose Zane, but if our Freshman click, we cold run away with the league too. I guess we'll see, already looking forward to College Hockey season.

I would flip Omaha and Miami. Omaha was a young team this year that proved they can play.
-
Agreed, that they could charge way more. The game will be sold out, and scalping tickets will go for much more than $60. Can't wait, should be a really fun game day. NDSU has done a nice job improving their tailgating, and should make for a pretty fun time. Go Sioux!
-
Could I submit my name for the job? $435k would be a slight bump from my current salary. AND I hate to brag but I am still pretty successful on NHL 93 for Super Nintendo.
-
When are we supposed to hear more from the school on this?
-
Well I guess we can hope for a surprise season. My in-laws are big Bison fans, and were very surprised to see the Bison have the season they did this year. I have to admit, it was pretty fun to watch that Werner kid against Gonzaga. How awkward can a guy look on the court, and still put up the points. Go Sioux!
-
I'm not a big basketball guy, but I do like to watch the Sioux play. Realistically, where do the basketball folks see us next season. Middle of the pack? Competing at the top? Competitive in the Big Sky Tourney? Sounds like this Seales kid should be pretty good, I always like what I see out of Hooker, and Shanks showed alot of potential. Then again, I'm not a great basketball mind, so any insight would be appreciated.

With the Twins being so depressing to watch, I am already looking forward to football. Hate looking forward to fall so much, because I love summer, but now that hockey is down I'm in football mode.

If our defensive can take strides forward the way it did last season, and our offensive improves at all. It is possible. Our defense will need to steal us some games though. That is clearly the strong point of our game, and while our Offense may be improved, it likely won't be dominant. The biggest improvement on offense should be our ground game, which could be huge. Strong Defense, and an improved run game to control the clock. Who knows, all it could take is winning a game or two that you aren't expecting to be in the mix.
-
Because they can. He is right, they don't NEED us. But they will obviously enjoy the extra cash. They also don't NEED Incarnate Word, but they still played them.
-
Yep, there is one in every crowd. I know our fan base has them too, as do the goofers and every other team. My in-laws are big Bison fans, so I find myself watching enough games, that i somewhat pull for them in their championship games. Guys like Bison Dan here that make me regret that.

Settle down man, nobody has denied the success that NDSU has had, or has insinuated (use a dictionary for this) that UND has had great success. BUT for all the whining about how UND would be wasted space on the Bison's schedule, NDSU has play some pretty crappy teams too (Incarnate Word?), aside from the talent, there is clearly money to be made in UND and NDSU playing, as dictated by NDSU's prices. Not to mention a great football atmosphere, in the game, at tailgating, at the bars. Can you imagine if NDSU had played UND last season on college gameday? You guys already have a tremendous showing of fans in downtown Fargo, but a good part of the city of Grand Forks would have been there too. I know I would have come up from Minneapolis for it (I almost did anyway). What a great environment. I won't disagree with you that it was UND that started the issue by refusing to play NDSU right away after the Bison made the jump. Though I think the bigger error on UND's part was not making the jump at the same time. Regardless, that was a long time ago and it is time to move forward.Getting this rivalry going again makes so much sense for both schools, especially financially, but even more so ... It is fun! As fun as it will be to watch the game played in Fargo, I am sure TONS of Bison fans would travel to GF. Again, great tailgating with that many people, great football environment, and financial reward.
-
Having established tailgating certainly helps them. A lot of people would continue going just for that. Besided I don't think this is something that NDSU will have to worry about for a while.

All I'm saying is the better team does not always win. We outplayed BU and lost. We outplayed the Goofs last season and lost. That happens in hockey, you will notice the last 3 seasons NO power school has won. Last 3 champs are Yale, Union and Providence. Why? Because once you get in the tournament, anyone can win ... regardless of how they look on paper.
-
You are a moron, despite the score they outperformed BU. They were the better team. BUT being the better team doesn't always win you the hockey game. Puck lucK, hot goalies, etc. A team can play well and lose, we have seen it before.
-
Well put, and Blasi is a great coach despite his number of "Natty's". That being said, i'd still take Hak.
-
Fine, I will alter his analogy Marino or Dilfer
-
Exactly, all on the Providence coach. The comeback had ZERO to do with the BU goalie scoring on himself. That was a complete not factor. All about the boys being prepared.
-
bahahaha
-
Don't forget Marino sucks too
-
Put Dean or Gino in the exact same Frozen Four games that Hak has been in, and I am betting we still have 7 titles. Some of those games we were just outplayed; BC usually got the best of us, because they were dominating teams. They were just better. Some games have no explanation, that is just the way the sport is. We outplayed BU and lost, and that is the coach's fault. Had we showed up like Lucia's Goofers did and played completely flat and uninspired in the first game of the tourney, I would have been a little more upset.
