One of the biggest differences between this season and last. This team always seems hesitant to take the shot, giving the D time to get in position.

Embarrassing PP so far :22 to go

My Sioux Hockey morale needs a sweep this weekend! Time to start a late season run.
-
Not sure what your're talking about with only 2 winnable games. We should be able to win at South Dakota too!
-
Absolutely disgusting. So many things wrong with this, and I'm sure the punishment won't fit the crime. Tends not to when it comes to Sports and Athletes.

Weird, what went down with Karki?

I could really use a UND sweep to cure my hockey blues. This hasn't been the easiest season to watch. A sweep would do wonders for this team's confidence.... and mine!

Does anyone know if there was a buyout option with the Big Sky regarding football? So if we had wanted to make the move the MVFC in 2018 we could have? Or was that something neither conference would have allowed because of existing scheduling? I have to imagine anything is doable for a price.

Very interested to see how well our O-line performs next year. Here is the list of players from UND's roster this season. Pretty good sized group of kids. Another off-season in the dining center and weight room and I'll be interested to see how many more get through that 300 pound threshold. Obviously want strong guys that can open holes for the run game, but as we are adding talent at WR, I'd really like to see some of these guys get even bigger and tougher to get by. 53 Grant Aplin OL 6-1 300 So. Have to be care to read the fine print. They are extremely close to south Alabama. jk
-
Ok, I think we've seen enough of the North Dakota school's pissing match. Neither school is Harvard in academics, and neither school is Alabama in football. Doesn't really matter. You can attend either school and walk away with a strong education and a find a great career. So anyway, I think this thread had to do with a conference change at one point. How about them apples ....

Fun Fact from over on Bisonville: Apparently Illinoise State signed a OL named Kobe Buffalomeat. Thats a heck of a name, and I'm sure the Bison fans will have some fun with that one when Illinoise St. is in Fargo.

I like that we got some receivers, but I am hoping that it motivates Dulin to step up this year. Maybe it won't happen until Mercer is gone, but it would be nice to see that kind of athlete work himself into the mix. Ott should be a machine. Frankly I don't give a damn if NDSU recruited or offered him. I don't care if their fans are right, and they didn't. I don't care if their fans are wrong, and they did. Doesn't matter a bit. As long as he lives up to his potential on the field, I'm glad he is playing for UND.

Somebody needs to get the burn squad in here! Call the Waaaambulance! Hahaha

Dumb, the two teams (as in the groups of players) should get together and get a replica of the Nickel. Doesn't need to be anything fancy. Just something that they bring and exchange anyway (despite whatever PC trophy the schools come up with).

Agreed, in terms of winning 5 consecutive championship. That is a very tall order. Nothing is impossible, but for another team to win 5 straight is improbable. In terms of competing at the same caliber as NDSU? Winning 1 or more championships (not necessarily consecutively)? Being a perennially strong teams? Absolutely it can happen. UND has take the first steps in turning around a broken program and making them relevant again. Now they need to string together some consistency, and have strong showings year after year. They need to make that first run within the playoffs. Try to remember way back like 6 or 7 years ago, and look at NDSU's program. They were very good, but not great! They were not a perennial power yet (Though I maintain they got screwed against E. Washington in Cheney). But what did they do? They took a good team, and turned it into a better team, and turned that team into a perennial power and championship team. UND can absolutely do the same thing. Though we have the challenge of recruiting in a region with NDSU (and lets face it SDSU has certainly done well too). NDSU has proved that being in a cold northern region really isn't a factor. UND has done a nice job of adding to their facilities with the IPF. Still not the biggest fan of the Alerus, but it is far better than a good chunk of the FCS stadiums out there. Will the fan base every compete with NDSU or Montana, probably not. Can it be maximized to the potential of the region? Absolutely! We saw a big improvement this year, and IF UND keeps winning, the fan base WILL increase. That is just how it works. Again, look back to NDSU about 6 or 7 years ago? Still had good crowds, but NDSU is a constant sellout and tailgating has pretty much doubled in that time, which is saying something, because tailgating was already pretty good in Fargo. Overall, it is absolutely not a stretch to say that UND is on a path to become a perennial contender. I'm not saying that is a guarantee, or that it will or will not happen. I am saying it is completely feasible, if Bubba and Co. can continue on the path they are on.

Sucks, but should not be detrimental to the team. Still a ton of talent on the receiving end. I hope Studs is ready to chuck the pigskin ... Santiago, Mckinney, Toivenen, Wanzek, Mercer, Cloyd, Greibel, Stanley, maybe Pinke. There is a ton of talent out there. Keaton definitely has the tools, and if he can be consistent from the beginning, our run game is that much more dangers (Santiago, Oliveira, JJ, Gordon)!!! I really liked when they would run the Wanzek to Toivenen reverse last season, but I have to think if you use someone like Santiago to Mckinney, you'll be getting a lot of yards. So ready for the season!!! alskjflasfjdisjLAKJDSFLIAJSDJFLASDKJF .....FOOTBALL!!!

Not positive on these, but: Jake Geier Chuck Flowers Jordan Canady Vashon Tucker Not sure if Dre Randolph will play safety or corner. Also not sure on Tim Ryan.
-
Jawon Johnson made the move as well. I like it. Love that the coaches move the kids to wherever they can maximize potential. Palmborg has shown some flashes, but has gotten beat over the top a few times, OLB could be a really solid move.
-
Interesting that Palmborg will move to OLB. Could be a solid move.

I feel like they did that with another OL a few years ago ... Speaking of whom, is Grady coming back this season? Can we revive the rumors? I heard from a guy, that knows a guy, who knows a guy, who Grady walked past on campus one time, that there is some serious thought of making a comeback!
-
Hope the majority, if not all, of these players intend to be on campus this Summer. Start learning and start lifting.

For those "in the know", any thoughts on potential FBS drop downs, or additional JUCO signings? If so, any names, or positions?
-
Heinert mentioned that it was still possible to see another signing or 2 today. Either PWO or late scholarship.Regardless, great class. Anyone know what happened with the other OL from Illinois (Weichel, I think?) Was there basically 1 spot between him and Jenkins? Anyone know much about these kids? Weichel was far bigger, but I was reading pretty positive things about Jenkins and it sounds like he has the big frame that can fill out. Thoughts?

Makes sense. Was just curious. Thanks!
