  1. Fargo has other sporting events? I mean, I think there are some bean bag tournaments during the spring and summer, but I think that is about it.
  2. I'm good either way. It would be really funny to see OSU beat them. Though it would be satisfying to see us beat them in that national tourney. Let them enjoy all the other wins against us, as long as we get the most important one. Probably the only time that 1>5!
  3. Take away from it what you want, but they basically showed their cards last weekend. Don't think the officiating crews won't be aware and watching for some of that kind of stuff this weekend. That includes stuff on UND; Cole Smith's little love tap with his stick (which again resulted in the UMD player hitting the deck) probably should have been a penalty). No need for it. UMD will have to play on skill this weekend (which they are very capable of). But I don't think they will get away with the embellishments or the chippy stuff. After a heated game, with plenty of penalties and controvery, both teams will likely be under the microscope of the officials in the regional. UND needs to eliminate ALL of that from their game to be successful. Play like they did last weekend, and they will be fine. If someone takes a run at Cam (which I highly doubt happens), you help your goalie up, and let the refs deal with dishing out penalties one way, rather than getting drawn into coincidentals. I hope Berry stresses, no retaliation, all week. Stay out of the box, and retaliate on the scoreboard. I know nobody liked the Pionk run last weekend, BUT it is clear it distracted UND at the end of the period, and got UMD back into in the early second.
  4. Does anyone know if Schloss is using the same coin to do a bracket this year? I don't think anyone is as confident of this team as least years team, for obvious reasons. BUT after all of the high talent teams that didn't win a title for so many years, wouldn't it be fitting to win it this year?
  5. haha, Frozen Four week, especially! Productivity down to nothing. Bandwidth used on Siouxsports and other college hockey sites, sky high!
  6. Anyone else feel the week of the NCAA tourney should just be a holiday week, and none of us should have to work? So anxious for Friday!
  7. No point talking about playing Duluth when UND will be playing Harvard in the Frozen Four.
  8. That is what I got. Not sure I want to see that or not, haha. This tourney is so tight though. I wouldn't be shocked if we lost to BU, and I wouldn't be shocked if we won it all. Great tournament.
  9. I don't really understand the no alcohol at the NCAA event thing. Unless we're feeding the beer to underage kids, why does it matter who is actually playing. If you are at an entertainment event, and you are of age, what is the problem?
  10. Agreed. Every group may have some bad fans. In general, if you are nice, most of them will be to. I've actually seen some Sioux fans yelling at a Gopher fan and his daughter who couldn't have been more than 5. That was a long time ago, but pretty ugly. Unfortunately, there are some in every crowd.
  11. Yeah, I really don't understand why that has not been renegotiated at all. Like CBS Sports and the NCHC did. Let Roots sports pick its schedule, then let the schools schedule their broadcasts around that. Can't wait for ESPN3
  12. Of course I do. I don't actually hate the name that much. Not a huge fan of the logo (Though it does look pretty slick on the football helmets), think there needs to be an alternative logo too, and the ND should have been retained. Nevertheless, the bitter Sioux fan in me, will be petty on social media.
  13. One of the Duluth fans made the point on my twitter that they were really surprised by the Pionk play as well. Said they would expect something like that out of Soucy, but that isn't usually Pionk's game. I don't know enough about Pionk, but I suppose we can kind of relate to that idea. I know it was fun to watch Frattin light Kevin Wehrs, but it was certainly a big time charge. Not usually Frattin's game either. You just wonder what/if these guys are thinking sometimes.
  14. 1 - Air Force -- 'Merica! 2 - W. Michigan -- Would be cool to see a new team win it. 3 - Mich Tech -- Pearson has done a nice job with that program. 4 - Union -- Small school has risen to being very competitive, and the beat the Goofs two years ago. 5 - OSU 6 - Notre Dame -- Grossly ugly hockey helmets. Lucia's alma mater. Blah. 7 - Penn State -- Needs to take some bumps, and be in the league longer before I want to see them win it all. 8-11 - Mass-Lowell, Cornell, Harvard, Providence -- Eastern Schools; the media just loves them though. 12 - BU -- Eastern School, Diaper Dandies, the Eichel year, its BU, Yuck 13 - UMD -- Lost respect for UMD, Lost respect for Sandelin, Disgusted by DHG, I'm sure all 8 of their fans would be very happy. 14 - DU -- Hate em. Great rivalry. Hate em. Don't need them having as many titles as us. 15 -- Like Stony said, Duh. Glad they are in the tourney, its entertaining to watch them exit early.
  15. Nope, not even close yet. Way to much history with the other schools. UMD is next on the list though. I'm thinking Sandelin has burned a lot of bridges in GF though.
  16. Never good for the gophers to win it all. It is good for them to be successful enough to be relevant, but to always play the role of little brother to us
  17. Not sure what to think about this BU squad. Obviously, loaded with talent; Which everyone knows. We will hear all about the Diaper Dandies during the broadcast on Friday. Seem that this team has had some of the same struggles as UND though. Tons of ups and downs. Some great wins and some bizarre losses. I think this weekend comes down to consistency, which UND seems to be finding, and experience. UND had a better finish to their regular season than BU did, though BU still won some big games. I still give UND the edge with experience and location. UND has more players with more experience in this tournament. UND certainly gets the edge with the location and the crowd. I’ll take UND to win! (Like I would pick anything else) Boston University Swept in 2 games in Denver – Understandable. Long trip, DU is really good, BU is really young, and this was the beginning of the year. Two close games. Lost 4-0 to Connecticut (12-16-8) – What? Beat Harvard 4-3 – Obviously Harvard is pretty talented this season. Swept BC Got swept by Merrimack – Huh? North Dakota Started the season 5-0 Followed by a 4 game winless streak Followed by a sweep IN St. Cloud Followed by a loss and a tie to Mich St … at home – WHAT? Then a win over Boston College Scored 16 goals against Omaha to start 2017 Followed by the worst 2 month stretch in recent UND history (including getting shut out 3 times! (UMD, CC, UNO) Finished the season sweeping Miami, SCSU, and shutting out #1 DU; tight/controversial loss to UMD
  18. Obviously hope Poolman plays, but I have far more faith in this defensive group than I did earlier this year. Shaw is playing nicely. Ausmus has been back to form after a rough stretch. Peski is probably the most improved player in the group. Made some real rookie errors early in the season, and looks poised to be a guy we will rely on for the next few years. Improvement across the board for these guys.
  19. I'm tellin ya, pour a little beer on it, and he'll be good to go.
  20. Are we sure Matt Greene and Ben Blood don't have any eligibility left? Or can they just borrow jerseys from the Poolman boys for a couple shifts?
  21. Can we all just take a moment to congratulate the Gophers on being the best team in the coun-- the best team in the sta-- the best team in their conf-- the best team in Mpls? .... Go Irish!
