  1. Makes sense. Anyone have any idea of who this potential transfer is?
  2. That is understandable, but couldn't that be a little detrimental to player retention and recruiting? Or is it assumed that the situation has been explained to players and recruits.
  3. Seriously, pretty surprised it is taking this long to figure out the coaching situation.
  4. Awesome! It was very disappointing when it looked like we lost this kid. Glad to have him back in the mix. Anyone hear anything on Jojo Henderson?
  5. McDermott was a tough loss. Can't really blame Shanks though. Transferring to start grad school is much different than just leaving the program because you don't like the coaches, the situation, the school, or the team culture.
  6. A little disappointing, he seemed to play better as the year went on. Last year, and early on this year, I always hated seeing him out there over Avants. But he played pretty well against Arizona, while Avants looked completely outmatched. Best of luck to the kid. Seemed like a pretty good teammate and person off the court. Anyone know where he is headed? Will UND bring in someone else to replace Shanks then? Any potential big guys on the radar?
  7. Maybe Strickland's tweet from the Blues perspective. Maybe he figured they would put a strong offer together, but hadn't hear from Pogo yet. Or maybe his information is correct, that Pogo is likely to sign, just isn't going to be a rush job. Maybe he is likely to sign, but not for another week or so. Who knows? So much speculation on this stuff. All I know, is based on what I saw from this team at the end of the season, and the talent we are bringing in, I'm pretty pumped for next season. I don't expect it do be a repeat of 15-16, but I do expect far more consistency than 16-17.
  8. So is that a definitive Rhett is back? Or a UND as a whole will be back in the tourney? I'll assume Rhett will be back since he isn't a huge flight risk. And wasn't he just drafted last season anyway?
  9. possibly, but I assume it comes down to a bidding process and money talks. Don't really know how it works though.
  10. Seeing how we lost the Fighting Sioux name, because we had to get approval from an Indian tribe that was located partially in South Dakota, the NCAA better not consider it too far away.
  11. haha, I'll admit, I was all ready to celebrate a 5-3 Double OT win for UND...... so close.
  12. haha, I mean, I hope all draft picks in college hockey, except those from UND, sign tomorrow!!!
  13. Absolutely, and as much as I hate UMD right now, it is pretty obvious what talent, experience, and maturity can add to a program. I think the National Championship Union team was built in a similar way, older, experienced guys.
  14. Money talks, but I'm pretty sure he already said he was coming back. A championship and contract offer could change that, but I bet we see him next season. Kid is so good, but I hope he stays. It is good for college hockey altogether when the talent doesn't bolt after 1 year. UND, DU, UofM, or otherwise.
  15. This is certainly an option though I don't see it happening. Obviously would love to see the kid in a UND jersey as long as possible. I do have a few issues with that approach though. -I think the kids to realize that when a team (even a down team) drafts them, they are truly making an investment in that player and their future. They are giving the kid the potential to live out their dream. I think players usually recognize that and appreciate it. -If it becomes too common for college kids to not sign with the team that drafted them, especially high picks, that deters NHL teams from drafting, or highly drafting college kids, which could in turn deter kids from taking the college route. Would hate to see the college game take a step back, when they have done such a good job of getting more kids to the NHL. Obviously would love to see more kids stay 3-4 years though.
  16. So it shall be written So it shall be done ...... Hang 9
  17. Agreed. If you think you are coming back to have a down season, that could certainly play a factor. At the same time, UND has been a tourney team and won 20+ games for the last 15 years. Pretty much anyone who ever comes back (drafted or UFA) comes back knowing they have a chance to compete for a title. I think if Jost goes, it will not be based on what a few of his teammates do. I'm sure Sakic wants him bad, but hopefully lets Tyson do what he thinks is best without too much pressure. Playing MJ vs college is a real possibility he will have to consider; though I think he would make the team out of camp. I also think that we he picked college over MJ, he knew he was likely in it for 2 seasons. Nothing to based that on, just my opinion. Jost also seem so impressed early in the season by UND and fans, I think he really enjoyed the season, team, culture, etc. and would give it one more go. Again, all speculation. Obviously only 1 person out there that has any sincere idea of what will happen, and that is Jost.
  18. How about Mismash or Gersich. Those are pretty solid reasons, if you looking for someone to play with. How about that loss to BU in double OT? That's a decent reason to come back. Money talks, but I see Jost coming back next year.
  19. Wow, Red and Bernie Sanders look a lot alike.
  20. Yeah, that was about the only name I could think of too. Was hoping there might me some more. Obviously, just want the best coach for the job (whenever that may be), but it is always fun to bring in alumni with ties to the program.
  21. IF Jackson were to get another job. Any idea who we would see get added to the staff? Shaw seemed like the exception to UND usually getting UND alumni. Does UND have many coaching potentials working their way up the ranks?
  22. With all of the openings out there this season, it will be interesting to see if Dane Jackson gets a look anywhere. Hope we keep him, but he could be a good head coach somewhere.
  23. Not possible. Red Berenson will NEVER retire. haha
  24. Anyone know when they announce next year's schedule?
  25. Welp, Hockey is over. Sucks to end the season that way. Sucks even more to have to wait so long to watch UND hockey again. Good news, we keep inching toward football season. Can't wait to watch this team! Going to be another step forward this year.
