  1. I totally get what they are doing with the rebranding, and I think it makes sense. I just think not retaining anything of historical significance is a little excessive. There was certainly nothing wrong with the ND logo. I know there was some concern over the branding of if, compared to Notre Dame. And to Southpaw's point, a handful of years ago, people wouldn't want a shirt with the ND. I still wouldn't want a shirt with just the ND, but I think it is a nice complimentary logo, to go with the Hawk. Definitely looked sharp on the football helments (and actually the hawk does too), but if they have alternative helmets it would be cool to use an alternative logo. Not often, be here and there, just to mix things up.
  2. What is the story here? Do you know BJ doesn't like Adidas, and why? Or is this speculation?
  3. Not just football apparel, but UND apparel in general has take a huge downturn. I was at scheels the other weekend (granted it was the one in Fargo), and everything looked like trash. NDSU had tons of options, and (minus the ugly Bison ) Everything looked really nice. The designs were better, the variety was better, the quality was better. UND has a new name, a new logo, a new brand, and they need to completely overhaul their apparel. I went with a full intention of buying some Fighting Hawk gear and starting to get on board with the new name. I did end up with a Fighting Hawks Big Sky Champs shirt (I should clarify which one, it is for basketball), but other than that, there was nothing to pick from. Very disappointing.
  4. but Horns Up?
  5. My.02 Doesn't matter what anybody thinks about if this should or should not be legal. Doesn't matter if it seems innocent or not.The only thing that matters in this scenario is that at THIS time it IS illegal. So don't do it, unless you want to deal with the repercussions. As laws change, people/students/players can adapt to them; but as a citizen you don't get to decide a law is dumb so you won't follow it (unless you don't mind facing the punishment. How many times has someone been driving where the speed limit is 30mph, but it should probably be 40mph? Well, you can drive 40, but you might get ticketed, and your argument of "Well, it should be legal to drive 40 here" won't really hold up. I'm fairly indifferent on these particular laws, but I do take the stance of follow the law, whatever it is. If you don't, I don't really feel too bad for you when you get caught. My bigger concern is, if Poole had this going on, who else was involved. I'd be pretty surprised if he was the only one, but hopefully we don't see any more of this.
  6. Maybe it will with under the same rules as the Ben Brien logo. I just don't expect it on the field because they were pretty adamant about dropping its use and rebranding. Frankly, I don't care that it is not the primary logo, but I do think it would be cool to see them find a way to incorporate it. Especially if we get alternative helmets; They wouldn't have to wear the ND all the time, but it would be cool to see it out once in a while. As for splitting hairs... Throwback doesn't just refer to the logo, but also the style of jersey or helmet. I think a throwback helmet, with the green stripe would look sharp, but should have the ND, a throwback helmet style with the green strip and the Hawk would still look ok, but I personally like the concept of mixing it up a bit with the logos.
  7. Ahhhh, this stuff is so frustrating. Get it together kids. Plenty of "legal" stuff you can go do. Side note, met this kids dad at the Poly game last year ... super nice guy. Had drove all the way out from Colorado.
  8. Nothing against the new logo, but this is why UND should have maintained the ND logo. It would be cool to see it used, if only on throwback/alternative helmets.

  10. Is there a link for this kid? I don't see anything on twitter, and nothing from a google search either.
  11. Nice to get the first offer out to some of these kids. Recruiting early can be a big factor. I believe that is part part of why Ott stuck with UND, even though he had a bunch of offers.
  12. So by that logic the Wild will never win a cup? Because they have not in the past handful of year? I guess all of the MN professional sports should fold their programs then, because they have not won championship, which means they never will. UND should probably fold its football program too, since we haven't won a Nat'l Title at the D1 level and NDSU has won 5. Heck I'm surprised we held on to our hockey program for as long as we had without a championship. When you interpret facts or stats in a way that supports your own personal perspective, it loses a little sincerity. One could also twist the same stats (years Parise has been there) into: The Wild have been a far better team AND playoff team since Parise went there. 5 years with Parise/5 years in the playoffs. 4 years prior the Wild missed the playoffs. Professional sports teams are constantly evolving. If you think you might be the missing piece that could compliment a team to a championship (a la Favre with the Vikings), then you go there, especially when there are other perks like $$$ or location. Make you wonder why the hell anyone every went to play for the Cubs, doesn't it?
  13. Do we lose anyone to FA this year? Agreed I also don't know how you absorb the hit. I am clueless when it comes to what players salary are, and how they affect the cap. Don't really care either, just hope they find a way to do it, within reason.
  14. I know someone who talked to TJ and was told that he would like to finish his career with MN. That was before he had a huge season with the Caps though, so he may want to cash in. Though if MN can afford a fair offer, I would imagine Oshie would give it some serious consideration.
  15. We'll see what happens in the offseason, but I know he would like to come here. I have a family member who spoke with him, and he said he would like to come finish his career in MN. We could certainly use the goal scoring. But like you said, Money talks, and coming off of a pretty big year for him, he could really cash in. Wild better at least kick the tires and see if they find a way to make it work.
  16. Oshie to the Wild next season. I'm calling it now.
  17. I just don't get the love for Easton Stick. He is a good QB, not denying that, but top ten? Maybe I have unfair expectations after seeing Wentz play for them. I do remember some family members saying he was supposed to be a better than Wentz (this was when he was recruited and before Wentz's play really took off). Like I said, maybe the expectations are a little inflated, but I would argue that his success has also been due to all of the pieces around him. Maybe he takes another step forward this year.
  18. I don't mind recruiting Iowa. We have found some good talent there, but overall I agree. Twin Cities should be a big focus. Lots of good talent.
  19. 247 shows him having an offer from Nebraska. Nothing listed about Iowa, though maybe it just isn't up to date. Obviously the kid is getting some interest. I see Travis Bledsoe sent him a pro-UND tweet. Edit: I see he received the Iowa offer on his twitter.
  20. Anyone else know who Coe had offers from before going with Dallas?
  21. Can't wait for Utah! We won't be the favorites, and we won't get much respect, but if this team is serious about starting to contend for a Nat'l Championship, then they need to be able to go out there and compete. Not saying that if we lose its a lost season, that would be ridiculous, but we have to compete and play like we belong. This should be UND's deepest and most talented team yet. An upset here is certainly plausible.
  22. Fair to say the talent is absolutely there at the RB position. These guys know what to do, so the only thing the coaches need to preach, over and over and over is BALL SECURITY!!! Even a great group of RBs can be a problem without ball security. Doesn't do much good to go 90 yards and fumble in the red zone or end zone. We have seen some of these issues from time to time over the past 2 years, so I'll hope that with more experience and coaching it won't be a major factor this year.
  23. Fargo U has done far better than us. Not a bad thing to shoot for. Hard to compliment the rival, but when it is true?
  24. After what started out as a young, somehwhat inexperience D core this season, that looks pretty damn solid for next year. Shaw has really become a nice player, and Peski was absolutely the most improved over the course of the season. Seriously, this team looks pretty deep for next year.
  25. Honestly, I don't remember. I may have been one of those people. Whenever teams struggle to score, and go through a slump like we were going though in Feb, fan are going to look for someone to blame. Olson never hit the stat sheet .... to be completely fair to Olson, his game is not all about hitting the stat sheet, he does plenty of other things really well. And he really did come up big in March. Definitely some leadership qualities in the kid. I don't think there is a clear cut forward that you sit next year, which should mean (injuries aside) they have the option to rotate, go with the hot hand, and rest people. No doubt this should be a fairly deep team next year, and as fun as it is to watch a DOT or CBS line, watching 4 lines that can all be dangerous is probably more fun through the game and season. Final thought, I love my summers and I don't want to wish them away, but I'm ready for some Sioux Football and Sioux Hockey already!
