  1. Looks like the cowboys waive Coe. Paging MN Vikings ... you need more depth!
  2. Wonder if they will look to any FBS dropdowns? Any name in the rumor mill?
  3. Fair enough. My only concern now, is that no other names pop up. Wonder who is roommates are? Were they aware? Was anyone else on the team using? Was anyone else dealing? My hope is that this was an isolated incident, and that we can move on and focus on football. Sucks to hear this kind of stuff. Heck, I don't like hearing about it when it is a Bison player, or a Gopher player. These are kids that have a ton of opportunity, and certainly don't want to see them waste it.
  4. Anyone know what the word is on Massimo Rizzo? Is UND in the mix? And if so, when is this kid likely to commit? Next year sometime?
  5. Agree with most of your moving forward comments towards next year. But terms like stupid, dumb, selfish, wasteful are probably better terms for this KID (And yes he is a kid ... a dumb kid, a selfish kid, a stupid kid) than POS. My hope for this kid, is that this will be the best and worst moment of his life. Worst because he lost so much, but best, because it got him to straighten his life out. Lets not be absurd here, this kid has some major issues right now. Hope he sees the big picture, and move forward.
  6. And the white powder? I think he would have been a good player, but he was no Lawrence Taylor.
  7. Well I would imagine Poole will be opening up some $$, right?
  8. But was there a need to eliminate to completely? It doesn't need to be the primary logo. I think they have done a good job of implementing the new one (minus the lack of decent apparel), but like I said, why not find a way to incorporate it in as an accent? ND on alternative helmets would be cool. Again, not saying it has to be a primary logo, but still don't see a reason to completely eliminate it Doesn't matter, since it is gone. Just though it would look really cool on the gray helmets that are rumored to show up. It would look classic and throwback. Just because we are not the Sioux anymore, doesn't mean we can retain a little history from that time frame, especially something that nobody could find offensive in any way, shape or form.
  9. I totally get what they are doing with the rebranding, and I think it makes sense. I just think not retaining anything of historical significance is a little excessive. There was certainly nothing wrong with the ND logo. I know there was some concern over the branding of if, compared to Notre Dame. And to Southpaw's point, a handful of years ago, people wouldn't want a shirt with the ND. I still wouldn't want a shirt with just the ND, but I think it is a nice complimentary logo, to go with the Hawk. Definitely looked sharp on the football helments (and actually the hawk does too), but if they have alternative helmets it would be cool to use an alternative logo. Not often, be here and there, just to mix things up.
  10. What is the story here? Do you know BJ doesn't like Adidas, and why? Or is this speculation?
  11. Not just football apparel, but UND apparel in general has take a huge downturn. I was at scheels the other weekend (granted it was the one in Fargo), and everything looked like trash. NDSU had tons of options, and (minus the ugly Bison ) Everything looked really nice. The designs were better, the variety was better, the quality was better. UND has a new name, a new logo, a new brand, and they need to completely overhaul their apparel. I went with a full intention of buying some Fighting Hawk gear and starting to get on board with the new name. I did end up with a Fighting Hawks Big Sky Champs shirt (I should clarify which one, it is for basketball), but other than that, there was nothing to pick from. Very disappointing.
  12. My.02 Doesn't matter what anybody thinks about if this should or should not be legal. Doesn't matter if it seems innocent or not.The only thing that matters in this scenario is that at THIS time it IS illegal. So don't do it, unless you want to deal with the repercussions. As laws change, people/students/players can adapt to them; but as a citizen you don't get to decide a law is dumb so you won't follow it (unless you don't mind facing the punishment. How many times has someone been driving where the speed limit is 30mph, but it should probably be 40mph? Well, you can drive 40, but you might get ticketed, and your argument of "Well, it should be legal to drive 40 here" won't really hold up. I'm fairly indifferent on these particular laws, but I do take the stance of follow the law, whatever it is. If you don't, I don't really feel too bad for you when you get caught. My bigger concern is, if Poole had this going on, who else was involved. I'd be pretty surprised if he was the only one, but hopefully we don't see any more of this.
  13. Maybe it will with under the same rules as the Ben Brien logo. I just don't expect it on the field because they were pretty adamant about dropping its use and rebranding. Frankly, I don't care that it is not the primary logo, but I do think it would be cool to see them find a way to incorporate it. Especially if we get alternative helmets; They wouldn't have to wear the ND all the time, but it would be cool to see it out once in a while. As for splitting hairs... Throwback doesn't just refer to the logo, but also the style of jersey or helmet. I think a throwback helmet, with the green stripe would look sharp, but should have the ND, a throwback helmet style with the green strip and the Hawk would still look ok, but I personally like the concept of mixing it up a bit with the logos.
  14. Ahhhh, this stuff is so frustrating. Get it together kids. Plenty of "legal" stuff you can go do. Side note, met this kids dad at the Poly game last year ... super nice guy. Had drove all the way out from Colorado.
  15. Nothing against the new logo, but this is why UND should have maintained the ND logo. It would be cool to see it used, if only on throwback/alternative helmets.

  17. Is there a link for this kid? I don't see anything on twitter, and nothing from a google search either.
  18. Nice to get the first offer out to some of these kids. Recruiting early can be a big factor. I believe that is part part of why Ott stuck with UND, even though he had a bunch of offers.
  19. So by that logic the Wild will never win a cup? Because they have not in the past handful of year? I guess all of the MN professional sports should fold their programs then, because they have not won championship, which means they never will. UND should probably fold its football program too, since we haven't won a Nat'l Title at the D1 level and NDSU has won 5. Heck I'm surprised we held on to our hockey program for as long as we had without a championship. When you interpret facts or stats in a way that supports your own personal perspective, it loses a little sincerity. One could also twist the same stats (years Parise has been there) into: The Wild have been a far better team AND playoff team since Parise went there. 5 years with Parise/5 years in the playoffs. 4 years prior the Wild missed the playoffs. Professional sports teams are constantly evolving. If you think you might be the missing piece that could compliment a team to a championship (a la Favre with the Vikings), then you go there, especially when there are other perks like $$$ or location. Make you wonder why the hell anyone every went to play for the Cubs, doesn't it?
  20. Do we lose anyone to FA this year? Agreed I also don't know how you absorb the hit. I am clueless when it comes to what players salary are, and how they affect the cap. Don't really care either, just hope they find a way to do it, within reason.
  21. I know someone who talked to TJ and was told that he would like to finish his career with MN. That was before he had a huge season with the Caps though, so he may want to cash in. Though if MN can afford a fair offer, I would imagine Oshie would give it some serious consideration.
  22. We'll see what happens in the offseason, but I know he would like to come here. I have a family member who spoke with him, and he said he would like to come finish his career in MN. We could certainly use the goal scoring. But like you said, Money talks, and coming off of a pretty big year for him, he could really cash in. Wild better at least kick the tires and see if they find a way to make it work.
