Ha! Yep, good point.

Listen dummy... ndsu offered Zeke Ott a scholarship. Not as a DE. As a TE. Zeke told them no. Now take a lap. EDIT: Because Zeke said no to ndsu, it appears that the "next man up" for ndsu could be USD TE commit Jensen from Wayzata.

Got me to laugh out loud.

There was absolutely disappointment from that aspect from many here, including myself. The timeframe was ridiculous. I agree. I'm saying many here were very disappointed that Bubba was the choice, regardless of the time frame. Jamie Marshall, Jeff Mills, Robin Pflugrad etc. "New Blood" with "D1 head coaching experience". Some were even giving Deboer more time than Bubba to turn it around because he was a UND guy. In a siouxports.com poll, 60% favored Kalen over Bubba here. "With Bubba it's 3 years.." I love the fact that you can search the forum archives here.

Im just asking again because I never got an answer 8 days ago. My understanding was that his theory was based on UND not going Summit/MVFC. That it would NEVER happen. I'm honestly just wondering if this changes his thought process but I havent heard anything yet.
-
I remember the day Bubba was named head coach. I wont name names, but many here were so disappointed and upset that the national search had yielded Bubba Schweigert. Turns out "Lowell Schweigert's circle of friends and influence" were right in the end. I'm guessing and hoping the end result for UND in the Summit/MVFC will be similar. We will see. I hope I'm right.

Ok what now, SiouxVolley? If it becomes official today after the vote, what happens?
-
Did we just close the doors on the University or change from the Big Sky Conference to the Summit/MVFC? Some pros, some cons. Some losses, some gains. Overall it's a net gain in my opinion and we have some opportunities now we didn't have before. I understand and respect the frustration by some here who had personal preferences for the BSC. I even agree with some of them. However, this is the BEST move for UND right now given all the variables in my dumbass opinion.

Perhaps...maybe say....2020'ish?

I will defer to SiouxVolley on that one. He has all the details.

President Kennedy Message on Athletics

Lol. Respectfully, what are you talking about? Do you have any idea what is going on and what needs to be done to fix it? You haven't been paying attention apparently. Who ever said "lets cut womens sports and be done with it"? We have to cut mens or womens or both to fix the problem, which nobody "likes" but is the unfortunate sad truth. Whichever makes the most sense. Womens Hockey happens to make a lot of sense and it has NOTHING to do with people "liking" or "disliking" Womens Hockey. By the way, I LOVED UND Baseball. How bout you?- 2,150 replies

The University has said many things regarding the budget and athletics over the past 3 years. Many of which have proven not to be true.- 2,150 replies

President Kennedy Message on Athletics

Kennedy will cut sports. Take it at face value, but book it. His hand is being "forced" this time. Cut womens hockey and the requisite Title IX mens sports for compliance and be done with it. Schafer whiffed and now Kennedy has whiffed. 3rd time is a charm. Right now, there could be a lawsuit from the mens side of the equation for title IX. We are over the compliance requirements in the opposite direction. And how can Faison survive this without being held accountable by 3 different Presidents?- 2,150 replies

Ok......but you have always said you don't believe for a second we are going to the Summit, correct? Do you still believe there's no way that happens? I guess I thought you said we would never go Summit because of your WAC theories? Forgive me if I'm incorrect on this. I'm just a big dummy trying to connect the dots here. Like I said, I like your ideas to a certain extent and so do others here, but just not sure how it happens any time in the near future. I hope you are 100% correct on the huge gift for a new stadium.
-
Let me preface this by saying I don't dislike your thought and theory of UND in an FBS WAC. I'm not sure we are ready for it or if most importantly, it's financially plausible given the current status of the state, but I don't scoff at the aggressiveness to play at the highest level. Having said that, what happens to your theories when UND joins the summit in 2018 or 2019? I feel it's inevitable and only a matter of time and official announcement. Does that change things for you? Right, wrong or otherwise, whether you or I or anyone else like it, it's gonna happen....Soon. Honest question. What then? We still going to FBS WAC?

I agree with Old School, Carter appears to be a great kid and I wish him nothing but the best. You never heard anything negative about him being a problem given his lack of playing time the last couple years, which speaks volumes in my opinion. On the field, I think his biggest problem was his ball skills. It seemed like when the ball was in the air, he struggled with adjusting. Having said all that, good luck to Chris Carter at Grand Valley.

We will sign at least 4 OL in this class. Possibly 5. Right now I think they are waiting on a few guys. Official visit weekends this month will be huge for that position group.
-
Honest question because I don't know the answer: After the requisite 10-14 day timeframe, is UND required to go through a national search committee? Or could the AD look at the candidates after that timeframe and decide on a candidate himself after a few interviews and then send them through the appropriate HR protocol (background check, etc)? Is the "scoring process" formally required? Or could an AD just say this is the guy I want and move on him after the timeframe? Maybe the AD has a guy in mind who hasnt officially applied and headhunts him after the 10-14 timeframe? Same thing there too? If not, that could and should shorten the timeframe dramatically for the hiring process. I still maintain that I dont believe there is any reason to have it drag out 36 days or whatever it was for the football hiring if an AD acts aggressively and pursues the guy he wants.

Sure would be nice to spread 800K around the department for salaries specifically, most notably for football and basketball (M&W).
-
Dead period is over until the national coaches convention this weekend. Then it goes dead again.
-
I don't expect Clive to be back again next season.
-
High expectations for LB Jaxson Turner. Should be on the field a lot next season. They are high on him.
-
Reyes ran a 4.61 this past spring.
-
I do not believe Reyes will get drafted, primarily because of question marks with his speed and coverage skills at the next level by scouts for his position. I 100% hope I'm wrong. I think he will get a chance as a free agent in a camp at minimum however. His intangibles are off the charts. Cole is one of the best players to come through UND in a long time. Just needs to stay healthy now. In my opinion, Deion Harris has the best chance to get drafted because of his measurables at his position. By default, NFL teams will gravitate to him because of his 6-3 height and long frame. He's very good in press man right now because of his length, but needs to be better in off-man and zone techniques. He just needs to go out and prove he is a complete football player next season. Needs to be better with technique, be more physical overall and play with more of an edge. Needs a 'prick valve' and to want to DOMINATE the WR when the ball is in the air. He has a chance to be the best corner to ever play at UND. The skill set is by far the best. Just needs to be more consistent and to go out and play like it and prove it. EDIT: Harris needs to run a better 40 as well for the scouts. Just my 2 cents...
