They have been talking about that for a couple years now in Illinois, as I posted about back in this thread in December of 2015. I thought it would have happened by now actually. Just waiting for the shoe to officially drop.
-
But there is more to comply with for Title IX than just 1 prong of the 1st component is my point.
-
It's my understanding there are 3 "components" to Title IX that must be met for compliance. The "3 prong test" only applies to the 1st "component" for Title IX compliance - "Participation". You need to comply with only 1 of 3 prongs to satisfy the 1st component. The 3 prongs of the 1stParticipation "component" are: 1. Proportionality 2. History and Continuing Practice 3. Accommodate Interests and Abilities After that... The 2nd "component" (proportional financial assistance) must also be met. And then... The 3rd "component" (benefit and opportunity equivalence) must also be met. There are 11 criteria here. This is where facilities requirements are met.
-
The Title IX "gray area" can be construed both ways and plausibly in this case, in favor of UND.
-
Currently, Prong 3 is debatable at best in the facilities criteria. However, once UND Womens Soccer moves into The Engelstad, the facilities argument is dead. There are 11 criteria in Prong 3 regarding "treatment" that are otherwise also covered by UND. UND currently already has Prongs 1 (Participation) and 2 (Athletic Financial Assistance) lock, stock and barrel. Furthermore, if I'm UND I would file a counter-lawsuit to recover the University's costs of counsel after the frivolous Title IX lawsuit gets thrown out by any judge with common sense. OK, your turn for rebuttal...
-
I have said this for at least 2 years on here and in conversation with many people, but I will ask it again.... On which grounds is a Title IX lawsuit against UND going to be even be considered by a judge? Which criteria and what would their argument be? Any law firm looking to file suit has to look at it and say "we have no chance". It would be bad publicity for any firm to even take it up - and a complete waste of time and money. I have been researching Title IX for a couple years now, specifically in relation to UND's situation. They literally have no grounds. I'm no judge or legal expert, but common sense and the numbers and facts would reveal it to be a frivolous lawsuit at best and it would be thrown out by any competent judge (I know, I know). I'm open to any argument on this to make a lawsuit plausible. Someone set me straight please and we can debate it from there...

Please explain...

If you want to use that accounting method for football, then you can add some more debt to the women's hockey deficit as well...Pushing it closer to 2.1 million. Not 1.9 million. I'm not sure you want to do that right now. It won't help the cause.
-
Got it. My mistake, my bad. My apologies.
-
LOL.... Let's close the doors on college campuses in our state so we can have Womens (European)Hockey at UND.... LOL, the self-righteous arrogance and complete lack of respect and understanding for their surroundings....it is so self-centered and selfish. I still can't believe someone wrote that. Awful.

Or that football has an endowment approaching 2 million... Or that it is the biggest alumni base (over 900 living alumni) with the most annual giving... Or that the program has a National Alumni Committee of 20+ former players to help aid the program in all areas... Or that UND Football alums have been paying for Impact Scholarships since the transition... Or that the program is currently on the rise after winning the BSC and playing in the 2nd round of the FCS Playoffs... Or that the team attracts 10,000 UND fans for gameday... Or that revenues are on the rise... Or that the program has a 123 year tradition and history of success... Or that silly Title IX thing where it would make it impossible to cut 63 scholarships from the mens side... Other than that and many other things I haven't mentioned, both sports are pretty comparable.- 2,150 replies

I will always remember Connor O'Brien for his goalline stand vs Montana State last season on the 2 point conversion to tie the game. He essentially won the game with that tackle. A "Digger-like"play vs ndsu in 2003. EDITED.

President Kennedy Message on Athletics

I believe the decision will happen by tomorrow afternoon. At that time, calls will be made to donors and alumni of those respective programs. Because of that, I believe an official announcement could come by Thursday morning/afternoon. Let's hope our Athletics Director and President of OUR University make the correct business decision for the University and UND Athletics moving forward. I won't hold my breath.- 2,150 replies

And Summit League sponsored sports with much better ROI, no less. I'd like to know what the Summit League Presidents and ADs would say if we axed 4-6 league sponsored sports. If I were them, I'd tell UND to find a different conference. Business is business.- 2,150 replies

Berry is making a lot ( I think north of 300k base), but he and the Mens Hockey program have earned that. Mens Hockey coaching salary is not an issue or problem, nor should it be.
-
When Smith was hired by USD, his base salary was 185k. I can't imagine they bumped him to 300k...
-
Would love to know what Smith turned down for salary at Drake. Giacoletti made 400k. I would have to presume the offer to Smith was at least that. What in the world must USD be paying Smith now to get him to stay? 300k-350k?

But Jones never cancelled. He didn't do anything. There was no communication to KFAN. I dont understand why this is so difficult to understand. What are the consequences for no-call, no-show in any aspect of life? What if his player had done that for practice or study table or an interview? He's a professional. Do as I say not as I do? There shouldn't be a double standard. Yes, I understand the context. It was all about a "bit" for KFAN? You're trying to blame KFAN for Jones no-showing. No communication. KFAN is reading our siouxsports.com bball thread and we are fueling the fire for them? Wow. How many times has UND Basketball had the opportunity to be on KFAN with Barreiro to promote their program over the last 10 years or so? When will be the next? Don't underestimate it. It's just bad optics for a guy who doesn't need it. How many UND people and fans stopped what they were doing yesterday and were excited to hear him on Barreiro after it was all over twitter? What did they hear instead? No, it's not the end of the world or the program. He just didn't do himself or UND any favors. If people would just stop making excuses for an obvious PR and professional blunder and say he screwed up, I think we could all move on and stop debating it. I will move on now too. Looking forward to the game on Thursday. Go UND. I'm also looking forward to hearing Jones talk about the program on KFAN with PA shortly.
-
Kfan conspired against Brian Jones for a " bit" Barreiro and Gaard were out to get Jonesy. Got it...
-
Simple solution to any "issues" that I'm not aware of: Be a professional and reschedule or have someone fill in. NEVER "no-call, no-show".
-
That would literally would be the best excuse. And it's a horrible excuse. 8-10 mins of his time.
-
Barreiro taking sarcastic shots at Jones & UND coming out of the break... What was supposed to be a positive discussion about the UND Basketball Program and their 1st trip to the Big Dance will now be an occasional running sarcastic joke on KFAN's highest rated program for some time...sigh.
