President Kennedy Message on Athletics
UNDvince97-01 replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
I believe the decision will happen by tomorrow afternoon. At that time, calls will be made to donors and alumni of those respective programs. Because of that, I believe an official announcement could come by Thursday morning/afternoon. Let's hope our Athletics Director and President of OUR University make the correct business decision for the University and UND Athletics moving forward. I won't hold my breath.- 2,150 replies

President Kennedy Message on Athletics

And Summit League sponsored sports with much better ROI, no less. I'd like to know what the Summit League Presidents and ADs would say if we axed 4-6 league sponsored sports. If I were them, I'd tell UND to find a different conference. Business is business.- 2,150 replies

Berry is making a lot ( I think north of 300k base), but he and the Mens Hockey program have earned that. Mens Hockey coaching salary is not an issue or problem, nor should it be.
-
When Smith was hired by USD, his base salary was 185k. I can't imagine they bumped him to 300k...
-
Would love to know what Smith turned down for salary at Drake. Giacoletti made 400k. I would have to presume the offer to Smith was at least that. What in the world must USD be paying Smith now to get him to stay? 300k-350k?

But Jones never cancelled. He didn't do anything. There was no communication to KFAN. I dont understand why this is so difficult to understand. What are the consequences for no-call, no-show in any aspect of life? What if his player had done that for practice or study table or an interview? He's a professional. Do as I say not as I do? There shouldn't be a double standard. Yes, I understand the context. It was all about a "bit" for KFAN? You're trying to blame KFAN for Jones no-showing. No communication. KFAN is reading our siouxsports.com bball thread and we are fueling the fire for them? Wow. How many times has UND Basketball had the opportunity to be on KFAN with Barreiro to promote their program over the last 10 years or so? When will be the next? Don't underestimate it. It's just bad optics for a guy who doesn't need it. How many UND people and fans stopped what they were doing yesterday and were excited to hear him on Barreiro after it was all over twitter? What did they hear instead? No, it's not the end of the world or the program. He just didn't do himself or UND any favors. If people would just stop making excuses for an obvious PR and professional blunder and say he screwed up, I think we could all move on and stop debating it. I will move on now too. Looking forward to the game on Thursday. Go UND. I'm also looking forward to hearing Jones talk about the program on KFAN with PA shortly.

Kfan conspired against Brian Jones for a " bit" Barreiro and Gaard were out to get Jonesy. Got it...
-
Simple solution to any "issues" that I'm not aware of: Be a professional and reschedule or have someone fill in. NEVER "no-call, no-show".
-
That would literally would be the best excuse. And it's a horrible excuse. 8-10 mins of his time.
-
Barreiro taking sarcastic shots at Jones & UND coming out of the break... What was supposed to be a positive discussion about the UND Basketball Program and their 1st trip to the Big Dance will now be an occasional running sarcastic joke on KFAN's highest rated program for some time...sigh.
-
This is irresponsible, unprofessional and unacceptable. Pretty simple. No need to chill out. You and I obviously disagree in the PR department philosophy in Divison 1 Athletics.
-
"High level meeting"? It's 8 minutes of free advertising on the most fertile recruiting ground you have in the region during a time when you just advanced to the Big Dance for the first time in school history. Either carve out 8-10 minutes, or have an assistant take the call, or reschedule. You don't just "no call, no show". I know, they get invites to KFAN all the time.

Nate Silver had a rough go at it in November.

A remodeled Memorial? No. Phase II at the HPC is priority 1, 2 and 3 for the entire Athletic Department. President Kennedy also has put this as a high priority. WHEN that's done, then there is no reason to remodel Memorial. Memorial gets its "facelift" in Phase III when we get the new stadium with retractable roof that ties into the HPC in the Memorial Stadium footprint. The anticipation for big donation(s) by UND may or may not be correct.

Congratulations to the players and staff on a great season and the first ever trip to the dance. An extension of some kind was earned this season.

It probably shouldn't be that surprising that Heidlebaugh isn't going to be the man in waiting given everything we have seen so far. It's not over yet, but... They brought in a JUCO QB with 3 years left this winter for a reason. When Heidlebaugh was recruited, there was talk of him playing multiple positions. He ended up starting at QB. The nice thing about that kid is his athleticism will allow him to move around and help the team somewhere else. If, of course, they end up moving him from QB. I wish him the best this spring in his QB development.

Teeder!!! Thank you!

I believe the title of 'run game coordinator' was in play at EWU for Maurice. Kind of ironic given EWU's offense. Surprisingly, they rushed for 1800 yards as a team last year but their leading rusher was their QB for 606 yards. Losing Kupp will change things for them, but they will still be chucking the ball around quite a bit.

Guess that makes me old...

Ha! Good one... (looks around for Ashton Kutcher)

JoJo arrives on Friday.

Let's also not forget that prior to the cutting of Baseball and Mens Golf recently, the last sport to be cut at UND before that was a mens sport IIRC - wrestling in 1998. Cant remember another sport being cut since then. So then the last 3 sports cut have been on the mens side of the equation. And since 1998 when wrestling was cut, WIH has since been added.

NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)

Brad needs to take a deep breath on this stuff. It's very un-brad-like of him lately. -
They're "non-profit" so making money is against the rules.
