I told my classmate, who happens to play Tackle for the Sioux, that he should come in as a Tight End for some trick plays. Also, I think one of our DTs should skip through the other team's stretch lines during pre game.

Sounds too much like PCM... oh wait, it is PCM!

Hmm the Stingers. Thanks Diggler, I couldn't access that webpage when I looked it up a few days ago. Nice to see that it is up now. They have 4 NHLers in their camp or did at one time. I also think it is interesting on how they define the status of their players. They do so by years of eligibility. I'm guessing that those with 1 year of eligibility are the seniors and 4, the freshmen. So I figure we'll be seeing Tytus Hardy in goal. Their goalies are big guys. Actually, size-wise, they seem to match up with the Sioux. Although they do not have the towering defensemen that we have. Mostly 6'- 6'3" with a few shorter. There is also a Desjardins and a Parent on the team. Wonder if they are any relations to the NHLers with that name.

I think it is a good concept, arena and conference center. In fact, I wish REA had the seating capacity the UNO one does. I also wish they pitched the seats differently so that the standing issue wouldn't be so bad. But if wishes were nickels, I'd be a billionaire. It is hard to tell which arena is better without going there and comparing. From a cost standpoint, though, the REA is better because we didn't exactly pay for it. The benefits for students, though, is worth investigating.

Grrr. that last statement sounded pretty bad. :/

Ralph, Sorry about the bad rap the Bear already has, but it is just a /bad/ idea. Especially the part about putting him on the ice and having him stand in front of the student section. Where I sit, I didn't hear a single fan who wanted the bear anywhere near the student section. My suggestion is: Have the white cotton monstrosity running around the concourse and the seats during intermissions off the ice in the general public sections of the stands. That way it gets to the kids and the public that Roger Thomas is shooting for by dropping ticket prices for toddlers (not criticizing that decision. To me, it's ridiculous to pay money for someone that young...). And to save everyone the headache, I won't get into what I think about a hockey game with a family atmosphere.

Better a zit than a festering boil.

Spoekn like a real ambulance chaser Could you work on my next lawsuit? Suing UND Dining Services because they do not restrict the amount of food the students eat. Therefore it is conducive to gaining weight and causing health problems.

What dagies is trying to say is: hire an assistant and then run up a tab for Roger Thomas.

If I had a journalistic or photographic bone in my body, PCM, I'd help ya out. I don't have the equipment. I have a regular camera, but that is it. BTW- I think PCM isn't taking photos anymore... Correct me if I'm wrong, PCM. Please let me be wrong.

According to the box score, Martin got 24 shifts and Hale got 20. Also, Martin served on the special teams and hale did not. Interesting, no?

With MN recruits getting younger and younger... ok, well, maybe it's just how the media represents their practices. I am curious if they don't have people that act on behalf of the coaches of DI teams to get to these players? I mean, if a player's coach says "You should go to UMN" when the kid is 15 or 16 years old, it means a lot. Especially if there is confidence in the coach. Yes, even UND has benefitted from this. However, I question the ethics of it. Oh well. The fact that Sydney went major juniors really should negate any investigations regarding the recruitment of him anyhow.
-
I think, and this is speculation, that it is a wonder what confidence in the defense and goaltending can do to shorten practice time.

Martin got hammered behind the net. Of course, I didn't get to watch the whole game, just bits and pieces in between the wild game

That is certainly one viewpoint, but it isn't the tradition of the game. This game is physical. Admittedly, the physical aspects are an American addition to the game. The game being designed in Canada and the best stick handling and technical hockey players generally (not exclusively) being European. I think every fight and penalty is viewed with scrutiny. Especially in the professional ranks. Stuff like McSorley's incident is very much uncalled for and poor sportsmanship. However, when you are down and out and need to light the fire, there is nothing more stimulating to the game and the fans in attendence than a good scrum. Especially if you are the home team that is down and out. I believe that fights need to be controlled more, that much is true. I also believe that there needs to be the end of the Enforcer position. If you cannot contribute in any other way than physical game and fighting, then you don't belong in professional hockey. So good bye Scott Parker, Tie Domi, Peter Worrell. If you don't contribute offensively, you shouldnt play. If you do, then a scrum now and then isnt bad. Examples of players who do fight and get things done offensively are: Darren McCarty, Martin Lapointe, Scott Stevens, Chris Pronger, and Adam Foote, just to name a few. Eliminating Fights will, believe it or not, eliminate a certain percentage of crowd participation in terms of cheering and chanting (some settings). They shouldnt go out just to start a fight, but if one happens, it should be treated in context.

Anybody know how much Center Ice costs? Or whatever the equivalent is for Midcontinent? I live in a University Apartment (which means I don't know if I can get it anyways) but I don't want to call those people and be connected with some poor Joe who only wants to sell me the package and not answer questions.

Wow, instead of having the overstuffed tailless rat running around the concourse, they have him on ice! How many ways can you say "Holy crap get him off the ice!" If the ice at the Ralph wasn't bad enough. Not to mention it skated around like well... some derogatory term that is really mean and low and not worth stating. I appreciated those fans who started chanting "You sit!" repeatedly. As for the sweater, it says UND, so I don't think it represents the REA. It may not represent the Sioux, but regardless, it was a stupid idea. And Katie O'Keefe is back too. At least Katie has some semblence of a personality.

Oh my problem with UW announcers isn't that they use different words or are slighted towards their team. My problem is that they are blind to objective hockey entirely. They don't have to root for the Sioux or give them equal air time when talking about the programs. But when they (UW) commit a penalty it isn't always a "bad call." If the Sioux get penalized and it is a bad call, they kiss the ref's posterior. Ok, maybe that's to be expected but I don't have to like it. And Sagissor's "Shame" routine is quite nice. I liked it. It actually gives a nice context to how I feel about intentional penalties. He must've had a lot of fun with Greene and DeMarchi when they played UW.

As for Vanek and the F word, you learn the most versatile of the words first. Therefore, the two words he needs to learn are the F word and "Dude." You can have entire conversations with those two words. As for Parise, they need to be careful. They may be setting him up for "failure" meaning anything that doesn't fit their expectations. Kinda like the Cubs supposedly sweeping the Marlins.

I always appreciate a band listing the best describing adjective in the band's name... like Garbage, HoobaSTANK, Poison, DEAF (Def) Leopard... It really tells you what to expect from the band.

Shock? That doesn't cover it. I went in expecting to have an article saying that Zach was overrated and had far too much pomp and circumstance. I read the article and I agree with it and then I read the top 15... twice. Where is Thomas Vanek? No, I'm not being derisive, I actually truly want to know? He has the talent and the ability. True, he's not American by birth, but still... I would have expected him on the list if not Eric Staal, who went just before him.

The song is called One Shot I think.. or If you had one shot.

THere is a lot of open space, fields just north of the REA, coincidentally, it's now land owned by UND so that's no dice. The park adjacent to the REA is owned by UND or the City of GF (which would mean you'd have to get a permit), and all the lots are owned by UND so that's no dice. As for the frat, I believe they have to be dry too. In theory anyways. What we need is a hockey house across the street on Columbia.

Mad Man- This is my opinion so if I'm wrong, some dude will surely correct me. Fights in hockey are sometimes staged. It's never play fighting, it's always taken seriously, but it is sometimes what a player is sent into the game to do in the NHL. Look at Scott Parker. Is he an offensive threat? Nope. Is he a defensive threat? Not really. But he fights very very well. So, when the momentum is not in the Av's favor, or they want to get the crowd more into it, he'll go out on the ice and find the opponent's enforcer and drop the gloves. It may not be right away, but it wil leventually happen. Some fights, however, are to protect fellow players too. Like back in 1999-2000 season when Commodore skated all the way from the bench to the far side of our goal to tackle and beat up a player who took a swipe at Karl G's helmet with the blade of his stick (he connected with the swipe). It was a fight but good leadership, I believe talked it down to a 4 minute double minor for roughing. Fighting isn't as common nowadays, but Prpich fought for a reason. I don't much care for people like Scott Parker, but the reasonings for him was there. Prpich will sit out two games, I'd surmise anyways. But it may just be to let some of the scratches get into the game.

Perhaps we should poll?
