  1. Wow. I feel bad for Snyder. I wonder if he will recover. The mind is a mysterious (organ?) in the body. Hard to say if he'll fully recover, partially recover, or have serious problems. I'm thinking that Mr. Heatley kindof got carried away with his status. Status quo, I'd say. Victim of the hype, the talent, and the salary. As for Sydney Crosby, tell me what else is new. It's not like that was unexpected. The main question is: which NHL will choose him when he is eligible for the draft? My guess: Pittsburgh because they'll still suck when Crosby is eligible.
  2. I agree with dagies. Stay 5 or so until the end of the season, and then blow everyone away in the tourneys. Hmmm a la Minnesota last season.
  3. Now for copies of those photos I asked. Will I recieve?
  4. I'm inviting them for Christmas dinner.
  5. I'm hoping for some PCM action on the game. Some sort of amateur type scouting report on either the mens team or perhaps both mens and women's. I say PCM because it appears to me that this dude knows how to report Who played in goal for the green team? Who had the goals? The assists? Any big hits? What did Murray do on the ice?
  6. It looks to be Domi whoopin on either a Panther or a Senator.
  7. Bah. It's the fanbase that counts. Packers, Cubs, Yankees, Lakers.... every one of those teams have a fanbase that is unbelievable. Look at the Cubs. They can lose 95 games in a season and still do it before a sold out crowd. How have the Vikings, Twins, Gophers, and even the Sioux done in fanbase during losing seasons? Well, the last half of that question was serious. I'll tell you, the Twins and the Vikes have the same player base. Over 500 and everyone's at the games. Under 500 and it's a ghost town at the Metrodome.
  8. If the Gophers are going to have any trouble this season, it's going to be early on in the season. Once they gel, though, UND, which will undoubtedly be in first place for that time, will not be able to lose or tie many games before UMN passes them by like Parise on a breakaway. God that hurts to say
  9. I thought Ronning was a Center?
  10. Since Lucia cannot vote for the Gophers, do you think his vote was the only first place vote for the Sioux? It would make sense, wouldn't it? Well, either him or Sandelin on the nostalgia track.
  11. For me, it would be any of these, but I chose Maine. The reason for this is simple. Nostalgia. I remember watching the semi finals in 2000 where a freshman named Spiewak shot the puck past a goaltender with an all white mask. Don't know his name, but he was interviewed before the game saying that his mask was to make him appear one with the ice or most "ghostlike." It was hilarious because Kevin was just clearing the puck into the Maine zone coming off a penalty or just before a penalty expired against the Sioux. The shot was from the boards near the blue line.
  12. I encourage those who choose #10 to post and state which team or teams. Only allowed 10 choices so I listed what I could remember off the top of my head. Note that I did not list Boston College. That's because they are already coming to the REA this season. Yale is as well.
  13. Especially when I was able to look back at when I was in the band and said that we stunk then too! The drummers are the only good thing about the band. Why? Well, at least back when I was in the band, they actually practiced and practiced hard. Everyone else just screwed around for the most part. I think the answer to the band's problem is simply to halve the trumpet section at hockey games. Also, mic everyone but the drums and the brass. Maybe we should send Blais out on a band recruiting tour
  14. Last season we may have indeed shortened our bench. Our 4th line did not see a terribly large amount of ice time the second half. But as many threads will agree, the biggest problem we had last year was staying out of hte penalty box (aka our special teams weren't that good). Second problem was inconsistent goaltending. Third, depth in the 3rd and 4th lines. I looked back on my own attitude last season and I see my behavior as humorous. I was surprised by MN the second half. Nowl ooking back, I realized that MN just got all their losing done in the first half so they could focus on domination the second. I hope that we can get that type of response this year. Coming out of nowhere to win is an awesome experience. Kinda like my Cubs this season. Who'da thunk they'd make the playoffs. (Yes, I know they'll exit first round, but I'm just happy they get to play in October).
  15. Spoke too soon. Brandon Scero is going to Ohio State supposedly
  16. The 03-04 Roster page isn't up yet, but for some reason #18 Tom Fritsche jumps out at me. Don't know if any of them committed and it will probably remain unknown at least until the roster page is put up. I know that quite a few of last year's team is now in NCAA or major juniors.
  17. Hmmm How many players on the 2000 championship UND team were on the 1997 one? Yes, experience does factor into it. UM has the corner on that market. However, talent is pretty similar. Both teams' superstars are returning sophomores. Both teams are relying on either inconsistent or unknown goaltenders who are both Juniors. Both teams have good size in their defensive corps. Neither team has a truly devastating offensive defensemen (unless you consider Ballard and Schneider Offensive D mean). The dark horse (I think I'm using that phrase right) for the Sioux is the special teams, which, admittedly, UM has in place for the most part. Speed... well, I'd say that UM has a faster team So as I write this post, I think that UM does have an edge (unknown is better than inconsistent when you have the defense and offense of UM or UND IMO). However that edge is only a good bounce of the puck or a breakaway from being either nullified or swung the other way. In other words, it isn't as clearly defined as it was during the second half of the season last year.
  18. No offense to your friend, but I used to be in the band (1998-1999) and we stunk. Nowadays, it's worse. Why? Well, the brass. The trumpets overblow everyone else. That wouldn't be so bad if they didn't flub so many notes and weren't so horribly out of tune when they do. Ok, so it is mainly the trumpets I have a problem with. That and they desperately needed to practice last season. And I don't care. If they play the fight song, I'm standing.
  19. I think Colorado College should join the NCC and go DII.
  20. Admittedly, my main sport is hockey, but I'm going to give this a stab. Historically, Augustana always gives UND a run for their money. This won't be Newberry. I say this game is going to be an offensive contest. My predicted score will be UND 34. Augustana 32
  21. Rumor has it that they want to do the same thing that they did with the lower bowl seats to at least part of the upper bowl for student season tickets. I have mixed feelings about this. If they want to have student season tickets for the upper bowl, fine, but they shouldn't be reserve seats. There's nothing wrong with the people on the upper bowl. Also, the season ticket sales should not equal the seats on the upper deck's student section. So far they've resisted my suggestion of recording the beer song and the school fight song and then getting rid of the band. Oh well, nothing's perfect.
  22. In INCH's Defense, they made reference to a prominent UND landmark, the Coulee! That means that they made a trip up here for a UND-UM match at least once in the site's history and took a tour of the campus perhaps? This article is middle of the road. Nothing special. Yeah yeah yeah, three peat blah blah blah. Ok, There is a chance the UM could three peat, but let's face it. Think long and hard and you'll figure out that both UM and UND have one thing in common. Unknown goaltenders. Jake can be good when he's consistent and Johnson hasn't played many games so it is unknown how well he'll play along the stretch. Both schools have excellent rookees. Both teams have returning superstars. If you ask me, the team with the coach that makes the least mistakes this season, whether UM or UND, is going to win it all, because from a talent and goaltending standpoint, these two teams are nearly identical. Maybe this year the refs will be equal in calling stupid penalties on everyone instead of just the Sioux (and UM when they play MSU-M Sheesh)
  23. MinnesotaNorthStar - You mean Atlantic Hockey.... I don't really understand what a name change will do for them. Oh well. I agree with the UNH statement entirely. It's amazing no, that's sarcastic, it's understandable that a goaltender cannot stop all the shots when there is only himself on the ice to stand in the way. Last year's FF championship game, for that reason, was a complete joke. Ok, I knew UM was going to win, but at least UNH could have tried. Except for Ayers (who was the only one who saved UNH from being beaten by double digits), UNH should be ashamed of their performance. Hell, after Vanek's goal, you could have put JBSU on the ice and still won Bah. I need this season to start. I'm starting to rant about unimportant drivel.
  24. Interesting on the MSU-M and SCSU coverage but no UMD. I'd say no UM coverage either, but Fox North carries them, no?
  25. Along with Concordia of Quebec joining ECAC
