Thanks, usually I look those things up, but I'm just lazy tonight.

With the way the announcers were going on about BC during the UND game (or so I hear) I enjoy it when the other team wins vs. any ESPN favorite. It's always a good thing. That's why I love it when the Yankees and Red Sox lose. When Miami (DIA Football) lost to UNC a few years back. I loved it. ANY TIME ESPN IS FORCED TO EAT CROW, IT'S GOOD FOR ALL SPORTS. Period.

Congrats to UW. I can't remember who owns Gilbert's rights (if any at all), but how long will it take this superb senior to sign with an NHL organization? Will he go to classes on Monday? Say what you want, but I'm VERY happy Gilbert is a senior. The guy always found ways to kill us. Earl: Yeah, I think he's going to sign. Rumors last offseason said that Toronto wanted to sign him. HOWEVER, a big factor going into the offseason from Toronto's perspective should be to talk to him about how he's very easy to knock off his skates. Dive or not, it seems like the slightest physical play against Earl sends him flying. THAT is not a good thing for an NHL player to have going against him. Elliott: This guy is an 8th round draft pick, a Hobey runner up, and a National Champion. I don't see why Ottawa would be reluctant to sign this guy. I'd be stunned if he came back a senior next year. Burish: For UW fans calling him the worst captain they've ever seen, I'm not sure I'd be hearing the same thing now. Nevertheless, I don't think he'll miss class on Monday. I'm not sure he's NHL caliber. Pavelski: Sophomore All American.... He still has things he needs to work on, but he's won a national championship and did stellar for two years at the DI level... I've not heard any rumors at all in his regard, but what do you all think of his chances to leave early?

Thanks for posting with such tact and care.

Not a fan of their AAA team. Red Wings refers to the Detroit hockey team. The Red Wings may not have a draft strategy that looks at all leagues like the Devils do, but at least the Red Wings put together winning teams. But, I'm sure when the WIld look at the Red Wings, they cringe and say "None of those guys would fit into our system." Yeah, the Cubs are the most cursed of the pro teams out there. They'r at what... 98 years between World Series wins (1908)? They are at 61 years since they've been IN the World Series (1945). Trust me, unless a fix of monumental proportions takes place within the next two years, the Cubs will go over the century mark between World Series titles.

Oh brother. Can this discussion get more assinine? Please. Right now, as we sit here, we've never had more in common with the Minnesota Gophers. BOTH of our seasons are over. Let the rivalry rest until October.
-
Wow. All these injuries and costs Forney a great chance to perform in front of scouts... Well, we'll see how this affects his draft stock. Based on most of his performance comes from high school, I wouldn't be surprised if his stock fell to second round

I agree. Remember the Michigan game? After we went up 2-0, Michigan basically packed it in. We never did. We just made too many mistakes and didn't convert on theirs. Before the game I said that this game would be won by whomever capitolized more on the other team's mistakes. BC capitolized more and they came out victorious.

They are indeed likeable. Especially if you are: 1. Playing them 2. Betting against them Sorry, but until Pohlad spends money and Ryan wakes up and realizes that "has beens" aren't the answer, the Twins will just be an "also ran." The Twins the past two years have really shown how terrible the AL Central really was the three years the Twins won it. The White Sox and Indians get some talent and suddenly, the Twins stink. I will say one thing positive about the Twins, I like Santana.
-
Or maybe it wasn't that funny.
-
And in the end, we made a run of it even though we did make a ton of mistakes. I loved the fact that it was 5-2 at the end of 2 and the Sioux didn't pack it in. I'm not sure many other teams wouldn't have just packed it in.
-
Well at least we'll beat them in 2007.

I guess I don't see why that is such a big deal. Most of the time, when a drafted senior is good enough to get signed by the team, he's usually signed within a few weeks of the NCAA season ending. That would be WELL before August and before the NHL draft even! So, unless the signing bonus goes down (which I'm not saying it doesn't because it has already been pointed out that in some cases, it does/will), I don't think returning for the senior season is going to be all that harmful to the player or the team unless the team sees a definite need for the player and the player sees that his stock has never been higher/he's ready for the next level.

Exactly. So far, the only curse that's somewhat plausible is the "PCM is a curse because he's older than dirt." But anyways, Fire Hakstol, Parise is a sieve, bench Lee, Smaby's a bad captain, and let's for the Big Ten Hockey Conference too! sagard- You're absolutely right. Let's look at the positives here. The Sioux are dedicated to winning and winning it all. And they will and have. It's been 6 years since their last title, though they do have 4 more frozen four appearances with 2 runner ups to show for it. This is way more than you can say for many teams, collegiate and pro, in many sports. For example, I doubt the Wild will have a stanley cup in their first 10 years, maybe even 20 if they keep up the "good work." The Vikings will never win the Super Bowl with their propensity towards mediocrity. The same can be said for Gopher football and basketball. The Twins are playing so well that even they may be the second biggest joke in the AL Central behind the Royals. It definitely could be worse.
-
Except for Hakstol, Berry, Eades, the Sioux players, and most of us diehard fans, you're right, he should have been relieved. Newsflash, bucko, neither goaltender played well. Schneider nearly gave the game away in the third period according to reports.. I mean, yeah, Parise gave up 6 goals, but Schneider gave up 5 including 2 short handed goals. Seriously, Parise as an NHL netminder is something I don't know if he'll ever do, but saying that he isn't wrthy of being allowed to play the entire game despite unfortunate circumstances is just plain stupid. Yeah, we lost. Yeah, it sucked. No, it wasn't Jordy's fault. Plain. Simple. Period. The End.
-
I'm somehow doubting Spirko and JPar's departure. Spirko wasn't drafted and JPar's departure would only be more seriously taken if the Sioux had won it all. The rest... we'll have to see.

Yeah. At one point we weren't even picked to make the post season period! WE MADE IT TO THE FROZEN FOUR!!!! To me, this was a disappointing end to an overall GOOD season. We didn't choke. We lost to a team that was hot at the right time. They played hard on both sides and BC just came out on top. Instead of hating, I'm putting on all the warm fuzzies for Hakstol and crew. He knew how to make a team and we, again, had quality leadership when it mattered. Let's hope for a painless offseason where we can reload and start over again next October!
-
First of all, what a season. We had our ups and downs and, yes, it didn't end the way we all hoped it would. HOWEVER, we did see a lot of potential and, barring any serious defections, WE'RE ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER. Jordan was playing his heart out but just couldn't get any luck. Schneider was unbeatable at times. We looked a lot like we did against SCSU at home for what little I got to listen to the game (more on that later). We ran into a great goaltender and a team that is just flat out amazing at the transition game. We'll grow and mature and we'll be back. Yeah, we didn't get our National Championship, but I'll tell you what: HAKSTOL IS THE MAN. I'm digging this guy. It's only a matter of time before he brings home #8. He brings in teams that get me close to meltdown at times, but they came together really nice. I'm proud of them even though they didn't get to face whomever it is that won tonight against UW/Maine (I just got home now). Secondly, THANK YOU MIKE PRPICH AND LEE MARVIN!!! You both will be missed!!!! Thirdly, it's nice of those idiots to show up and start flaming us. Yeah, we didn't look good out there, but we lost in the Frozen Four, which is more than the Gophers can say. Parise forbid UW loses to Maine. No offense to Maine, but BC is a tougher opponent. Please Hextall, siouxhater, and all those other 'Garbage posters' take it to GPL or USCHO or wherever you want to head but leave this place. It does you no good to flame here. It just makes you and your teams' fanbases look cheap and classless. Lastly, the game. I didn't get to listen to most of the game (mainly just the second period). Why? My best friend had his first kid. A girl. I'm almost as proud as he is. So, instead of watching the game and getting disheartened, I spent my day holding a 6 pound 8 oz newborn girl and wishing my best friend and his wife the best. I missed a game, but I gained a new life to be a part of. YAY Friend!

Bolded part is what you'll probably be ribbed for. Nothing wrong with having another team's jersey, but you found the SCSU jersey looked cool? Dude.....

Or was the writer wrong and simply forgot the V?

I liked this a lot, PCM, with one exception: You got Swygman down so well that it doesn't seem like it adds to the humor in the post. It's like you cut out actual Swygman footage and pieced it into an otherwise brilliant recap parody. Thanks PCM

I'm going to catch flak for this, but I don't think Slap Shot was trying to hijack a thread. He's not really capable of doing it. If you want to find a master at the stupidity hijack maneuver, you go to http://www.uscho.com, go to their message board, and search up a user called "morprod" and there you go. He's the best at hijacking threads. Of course, he IS an SCSU fan...

Just wait until Irman plays his first game with the Wild. God forbid he scores a goal. Here's what will happen if he does. Lemaire will call him into his office and say: Lemaire: "Danny, welcome to the club! What did you think of your first game?" Irman: "Oh, it was everything I dreamed of. It was hard work, but worth it. I really enjoyed my chance to play tonight and I look forward to developing into the player the Wild needs so I can play more at this level, coach!" Lemaire: "Yeah, that's what I was hoping you say. I'd like to say, first, that congrats on scoring that goal of yours. I know it feels good, but I must say there was something I didn't like about it. When you went into the zone and shot that puck from down low, you abandoned your man to take the shot. That wasn't defensively responsible. What if the attempt was broken up? There would have been an odd man rush the other way, that's what! So, despite the fact that you had a goal and was +1 on the night, we're sending you back down to Houston to work on your defensive responsibilties." And, hence, the Walzification of Irman will commence until Irman only scores two kinds of goals: 1. Defensive lapses by the other team that results in the puck going in 2. Empty netters Seriously, the Wild have the 4 best checking lines in the NHL. Now... if only they had a scoring line... maybe two scoring lines?

Pssst, methinks he's trying to bait buckysieve more than he's actually trying to pick a fight with Gopher fans.

Nice. It's too bad I suck at prognostications. I'd've loved some of that stuff AZSioux is giving away. I still do have that autographed Brady Murray card. He looks so... smurflike in that sky blue billboard jersey.
