  1. If you are talking about talent coming out of North Dakota, I don't know by what you mean to compare it to? The NHL? If that's the case, there's only one North Dakota born person playing in the NHL (Ryan Kraft) to my knowledge and he's a role player. To Ryan Potulny and Danny Irman? Well, I think in terms of collegiate talent, Andy Schneider and Nick Fuher are two good examples even though they are defensemen. Moreland, the goaltender for SCSU, was pretty good.
  2. I don't know, but the men did pretty well with 13
  3. Awareness is growing. I saw flood reports on CNN the other day.
  4. If it is JPar, I would guess that the teams that contacted him may be the three teams that lost out on the McKee signing. My source is this little birdie that chirps outside of my damn window every morning at about 6 am
  5. I'm doing the game three ways. Since I'm going to be working that day (I hope I hope) I'll miss the first hour to hour and a half of the game (unfortunate but it's either that or live in a cardboard box) but I will tune into the radio on the way home, then, turn on the tv and the internet game thread for the remainder. I know, I want to work that day, but this is real life here.
  6. Unproven, sure, but they are VERY high on Emery and Thompson among others. So much so, that they traded away Gerber or some other decent goaltender who is now on Carolina IIRC. He may very well leave after this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.
  7. That's actually a VERY good article. I enjoyed it.
  8. I don't follow you....
  9. 8th round by Ottawa. Unsure if he'd be signed early by Ottawa since they seem to be pretty well stocked at forward and goaltender.
  10. That's ok. After all, if you follow the word of the backup BC Goaltender article, the teams already faced off against each other. So, Pearce showed up to an empty arena. Can't really trust a hometown newspaper of a player who doesn't do a simple fact check.
  11. Kai Magnussen isn't a big player either. And he comes from a team (Weyburn) that, when he was in juniors, won their version of the junior national championship (of Canada)
  12. If "aren't really that fond of UND" is the phrase you use to say "generally incompetant," then, yeah, they are. WCHA refs have screwed up more games than just those that UND has been involved in.
  13. Ditto.
  14. I'm actually thankful for that. If it were up to ESPN, I doubt they'd even care. With the seperation the NCAA could try to reap what little of overlap there is and maybe get a few that are just up for the whole experience. I know plenty of Sioux fans in Fargo here that are just as excited about the Sioux in Milwaukee as the upcoming Final Four. So it benefits them.
  15. And at least I don't resort to name calling and belittlement of other posters' opinions just because they do not agree with mine. So, to each their own. Don't worry, I'll treat you with as much respect as you look at us. And, yeah, you deserve it... unless you come on IMMEDIATELY and apologize for the name calling. Seriously, calling us hicks just feeds the fire of distaste that Sioux and Bucky fans have towards Gopher fans. Last time I checked, acting towards the stereotype doesn't prove the stereotype false. Drop the arrogance and the condescension at the door or leave here and don't come back.
  16. My thoughts exactly. This is truly the first classless Maine fan I've ever read on any message board I've ever been on (two to be honest).
  17. And one could argue that Oshie has been more pivotal when it mattered the most. Kessel has done alright and I'm not upset that he won this award. It's pretty much a no-brainer. If USCHO gives out a rookie of the year award, I'd expect that to be Kessel. And the same if the NCAA overall gives one out. RIght now, though, the post season rookie of the year award (conference tourney and regional so far) is going to be a tight race between Toews and Oshie. With no one from Minnesota even getting an honorable mention. Why do I mention this? Give Kessel all of the awards and then give Oshie a National Championship. Then ask each player which one they'd like the most. I doubt even Kessel would be egotistical enough to say that he wouldn't trade all his awards for a National Championship. EDIT: Of course, if we don't win the National Championship, I'd still be just as happy for Kessel and Oshie.
  18. I was thinking more the line of the University of North Dakota *symbol* ala Prince (a different symbol. One that perhaps subliminally appears to be a middle finger ). We can then go as "The Team formerly known as the Fighting Sioux"
  19. Uh.... thanks, I guess... But now you are saying that there needs to be relevance to a thread that you questioned the entire purpose for to begin with? Or maybe it's just your personal vendetta against PCM. I don't know. However, I don't think that this thread is entirely unworthy of discussion.
  20. Jim Dahl could best answer that, but I'd think they'd also take Johnson. An NHL ready defenseman is just what the doctor ordered for that team. Sasha Pokaluk and Joe Finley could be great, but they both need time to develop. Erik Johnson may, at most, need a half season in the AHL (if that at all) to make the pros.
  21. I'm just as confused. Calling you out because the NCAA named Hakstol a Penrose finalist... nice. It's not Friday yet and already ATLSiouxPhan is on something mind altering. ANyways, I'm sorry, but where is Coach Pearl of Holy Cross? I think he's done as much as Motzko, Whitehead, and Riley have. Plus, he took a subtalented team and knocked off the #2 team in the nation. Has to count for something.
  22. OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. sagard's been a closet Sioux fan for years. Greyeagle is no better. WPoS is the one around here who is fighting it the hardest though.
  24. If you were, what regiment did you fight in?
  25. Thanks PCM. I thought what was said was valuable. I thought Swygman was, once again, wholly unnecessary and, should he miss a broadcast, wouldn't be missed at all... skier? WTF? Anyways, good luck boys!!!!
