Sure, but a Source could mean anyone. Yeah, I benefitted from a Source once, and I believed him. It did come true too. However, for every one realistic Source, there's 12 BS Sources. Just like I heard from a Source that Eddie Belfour will be coming in the year after he retires to be our goaltending coach. Believe it. (Ok, anyone believe it yet? Anyone?) Jordan has said that he's staying. As that's the only official statement made thus far, that's the one I'm sticking with.

I love the fact that specifics goes out of his way to insult Prpich in reference to Irman. The fact of the matter is, Prpich's role on the Sioux was no where near the same as Irman's role on the Gophers. Irman was out there to create offense and play a good two way game as a forward. He was a leader on the ice. Ok, there's one thing they have in common. Prpich's role was to be a gritty defensive forward. Sure, he'd take offensive opportunities whenever they came, but he didn't have that as his top priority like Irman's role. You want a player that more than likely fits Prpich's role? You'd have to look on Minnesota's third line. Maybe a Gino Guyer or a Kris Chucko (though Chucko has noticeably more offensive potential). Prpich is an INSTIGATOR and a GRINDER. A Checker and a bruiser. I don't see ANY of that in Irman's game. PERIOD. Please. Specifics, if you are going to go out of your way to insult us on our own board, try to find a player on the Gophers that at least has a REMOTELY SIMILAR PLAYING STYLE to the Sioux player you are insulting.

Well, we haven't even filled one page of posts on this thread and I think I can see the end of the line ahead.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I think it comes down to feelings. People tend to feel better when things don't go the way they wanted if they can find something or someone to blame. When you are dealing with fans of an individual sport (like golf or tennis) it's pretty easy. Federer didn't beat some unranked schlub from Whocarsikstan. Why? Because he didn't show up to play. It's his fault. Done. When it is a team sport, unless it is shockingly obvious, it isn't that definitive. So, people grasp at straws. I didn't see the blame Hakstol part until later. The first one was blame Parise. Then it was blame the D. And now we have Blame Hakstol. It's all a conditioning to give these people a scapegoat to point at when they try to rationalize how a postseason that had been going so well could come to such an abrupt and disappointing end. So yeah, blaming Hakstol is in. Unfortunately, some people just can't handle the fact that BC outcapitalized us. Both teams made mistakes and BC capitalized on more of the mistakes than we did. It's really that simple.

I'm in Fargo and I can't make it up to Grand Forks. The earliest I'd be able to make the trip would be Sunday, April 23rd.

Forgive me, NDH, but I'll believe they are gone when there is something official about it. "The Source" is nice to have, but I like official statements better.

Don't worry. I will. We didn't lose this game because of coaching. Only one goal was really (debateably) caused by a bad coaching decision. Yeah, that would have tied the game in the end so I suppose you could say that it had an impact, but if 'ifs and buts' were candy and nuts....

I would LOVE to have a poster, but I can't get to Home of Economy Can anyone help?

And, based upon several factors that pertained with the last one, I'm sure the Administrator is keeping an eye on this one as well.

I can agree with most of this. Unlike specifics, who'd rather insult the Sioux because it makes him feel better about the Gophers (or maybe just to spite the Sioux. Who cares), this makes a lot of sense, from a certain perspective. I would indeed agree with the 'overachieve' angle based upon where we sat at the beginning of the Frozen Four. We barely made the NCAAs (we went into the Final 5 needing to win at least one game to have a solid chance of even making the NCAAs to begin with) to beating a Michigan team that, even with its goaltender issues, could have beat us to make the Frozen Four. Many of us were just happy to see the Sioux make the NCAAs to begin with. From that perspective, one could argue that the Sioux did indeed overachieve. Looking back on the season from where we sit now, I can agree with your perspective. Judging by when the Sioux started playing well, their talent level, and all, it was no surprise they made it to the Frozen Four. It was surprising that this much talent didn't fare as well during the regular season. Hence, why the perspective could be seen where the Sioux did underachieve. So, my point is it depends upon which perspective you hold towards the season.

Numbers do mean nothing, but is anyone surprised that no one, apparently, has gone after Hardwick or, if they have, that Hardwick hasn't committed yet? I mean, if numbers do say anything at all, he's done better at least than Ammerman...

Isn't that the same day or shortly after our appeal is to be heard? Doesn't matter though. Congrats Hakstol for being named a finalist for two straight years (right?)
-
I don't know, but it would be extremely surprising if someone other than York of BC or Eaves of UW won it.

True, but there may not be a place for him if he wished to play hockey... who knows though. Other DI hockey schools with flight programs include Princeton, MSU-Mankato, Western Michigan University (IIRC), and maybe a few I'm missing. True, none of these are flight schools that compare to UND's, but they may give him an opportunity to play hockey AND go to flight school. Who knows.

Jacque's birthdate is 6/14/1986. Which means his juniors eligibility (if the season ran that long, which it doesn't) would end 6/14/2007 on his 21st birthday. So yes, he is eligible for one final year in juniors. Now, the rules that I used is accepted by the USHL. I assume it is also that way for the NAHL, as Jacques plays for the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL. If the NAHL age requirements are different than the USHL's (USHL's rules that a player is only eligible until the player is 21) please correct me.

Like AZSioux said, making the Frozen Four two years in a row, runner up once, Broadmoor once, and getting great recruits on his recruiting trips.... I think we should fire him. Seriously! I mean, the Sioux can't hold a candle to the Gophers, Badgers, or even Michigan Tech! I mean. Only TWO Frozen Fours in his two years of coaching? Hakstol should have had two national championships, two McNaughtons, two Broadmoors, and two Penrose trophies. Not to mention coaching two Hobey Baker award winners, two WCHA Rookie of the Years, the entire first team All American, All USCHO, All INCH and All WCHA teams should have been all UND players for the past two years. So yeah, fire him.

Can I lie and say I won?

Wow. Then I shouldn't feel too badly about how Curtis Joseph played for the Red Wings when he was the starter then? Because I'm fairly certain that he sucked in the playoffs for us. Osgood wasn't that good either the year before he left for... the Islanders I think? How about Patrick Roy managing to lose to the MILD of all teams in his final game as an Av? Really.... bad games happen to every goaltender. SOmetimes they happen at inopportune times. However, saying that a goaltender doesn't have a shot at a pro career just because of a bad game in a key time is just ridiculous. And, no, I'm not saying Jordy will be the next Eddie Belfour or that he'll even make the NHL. I'm saying that ONE game does not a career make.

Kessel and Toews might have something to say about Kessle and Towes' chances.
-
Mad Man, PCM, I'm with you on this one... I have no clue what that guy is saying.
-
I said 'troll' not 'droll.' If I meant droll, then you'd have a corner market in that regard along with Diggler and several others.

I was going to ask how long after our appeal is rejected (which it will unless something incredible happens) does UND take the NCAA to court?
-
Here's a projection if things go to heck in a handbasket. I'd appreciate it if posters here would correct or project their own idea of a contingency. The contingency is as follows: Lost to the NHL are Smaby, Stafford, Zajac, Oshie, and Toews. Marvin and Prpich graduate. Bina, as an optimist, is cleared to play again. We bring in Forney, Vandevelde, Zajac, Genoway, and Marto. Genoway replaces Marvin (based on similarity between rolls as both can play forward and defense) Zajac replaces Prpich (No real reason behind this) Forney replaces Stafford Vandevelde replaces Zajac Marto replaces Smaby Because Oshie and Toews leave early, UND brings in Trupp a year early (this of course assumes that Trupp is graduating in May). This leaves us one forward short (replacing Toews). This does change the outlook on our recruiting picture, and I think Marvin would commit soon after this because it would seem that he could make a quicker impact with the Sioux. Now, NONE of this contingency is that terrible to overcome UNLESS Parise leaves early. That would put us in a bind as Lamoureax wouldn't have a tested backup. Nothing against Walski, but I'd love to have a guy who can step in and not lose a beat (like we currently have for the most part). John Murray, a Goaltender in the USHL, seems to be highly touted among uncommitted NCAA eligible goaltenders as far as the ISS is concerned. I don't know if he'd be eligible in the fall (he is a 1987 birthdate IIRC) or if Hakstol and company think Murray would be a good fit with the Sioux, but it is a thought... I think we can recover nicely as long as we don't lose a goaltender. What do you all think?

How do you take 7 from the last 6 times? That's mathematically impossible unless a WCHA team took a fractional part of the games...

DLW4GOPHERS- Though I like Diggler's reply, I wouldn't take 'Prpichrocks_19' too seriously. After all, the poster allegedly 'threw down' because someone told 'her' that Mike Prpich died the other day. In 'Prpichrocks_19's defense, 99 percent of those posters who come here to troll are, or claim to be, Gopher fans. So it's not all that unlikely that deedub would be considered to be a Gopher fan the first time he posts something brash and tactless. On the other hand, if I went off the first time I ever heard a sensational piece of news such as a player dying without checking to see if the information recieved was serious.... I'd probably be in prison or at least a mental institution. I mean, it's not like I've never come across people who've lied to me in the past or tried to get a rise out of me before. Just let it roll off your back, DLW.
