I think that could be said of a few of our defensemen and that's the problem that Finley has had. I mean, when you look at how well Jones, Chorney, and Lee did this year, Finley kindof gets drowned out (which isn't easy considering his size).

In other words, it's the same political climate we find ourselves in today. If you don't agree with the conservatives you must be a communist liberal bastard. If you dont' agree with the liberals you must be incredibly delusional and a crook. Welcome to petty politics.

Anyone want a challenge?\ Of those SIOUX goals listed, which is the nicest goal (excluding the factor of significance... in other words, it can't be selected just because it was a game winner or game tying goal etc.)? I'm not sure which one I'd vote for, but I'm always big on conversions of breakaways. So Oshie's breakaway goal vs. DU was pretty sweet. I'm also big on Kozek's goal during the same game because he scored on a quick release WHILE COVERED. Also: I'll make my request for a replay: Does anyone have the game this year vs. MTU where they can take the highlight of Kozek crushing John Scott and then going to the front of the net and scoring? THat's possibly my favorite play this season.

No, because this is the gloating type version of the other thread... I don't know what gloating is supposed to accomplish. If he's gone he's gone. I don't know of many here who thought he'd be back next year anyways except those optimists. And optimists suck Viva le pessimists!!

Whoa dude, chill. You're getting way to strung out over AZSioux. Give him a break. He lives in Arizona where the only excuse for hockey is the Coyotes. I mean, need I say anything more? Yeah, the Coyotes have Matt Jones on their team and Karl Goehring in their minors, but it really doesn't excuse the fact that that team still sucks.
-
I don't think you've 'ticked' many people off. Annoyed perhaps. AZSioux is a good guy, just a bit hyper. (By the way, many people use emoticons Such as --> to either kid or laugh at). In any case, sending individually is an ok idea, but I really like Jim's idea or going to a free website place like Geocities (if they still do this stuff) and hosting your photos there then linking it here. Maybe Jim would then set up a link to the site on this site somewhere. I don't know.

Just wanted to send out a HUGE props to the administrative staff (more than likely Jim) for the ticker at the top of the screen. LOOOOOOOOOOOOVIINNN' IT!

I am in agreement here. My photos that I have of Sioux hockey (or hockey in general) aren't that great, but they are about my passion. So he's gotten a bit overzealous in posting all of them here at a time. At least he's taking steps to remedy the situation. No need to dogpile on this guy. Save it for Piper. That guy's fair game.

Who says I'm a Canes fan? Right now, I have to live down the fact that I have to root against a team who boasts, IMO, the 2nd best GM in the game in the Oilers. GO WINGS!!! Then again, with the officiating in the Wings-Oilers series, the Wings may win the series on a technicality. I hate technicalities.

No, I know gordwiser isn't a troll (I don't even know what he looks like ). But I'll wait for the official announcement. Even if it is true, it wouldn't be unexpected either. Buffalo wants him badly.

Best part about Big Joe is that, he's only getting better. He started out slow and had a ton of problems with the smaller, faster forwards he came across. He played tentative physically. As the season progressed, he slowly but surely improved and improved and improved. Oh, by no means do I think he's a Smaby-esque player right now. But I'll tell you what, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't by the midway point of next season. This guy has MAMMOTH potential defensively. I mean, he's pretty solid positionally and he's willing to block shots. Can you imagine how much ice he can cover in an effort to block a shot?

I do think UND has a very strong case in a lawsuit, but does that mean we will win? No. Nothing is a sure thing in today's courts. What if we get a judge who is sympathetic to the PC crowd? Nothing is certain. I just hope we hit them hard and fast. IF we lose, we'll figure out what to do then.
-
That would make things way too easy for our opposing fans. They'd just add the term "Mother" before our school name then and voila! Instant Hostile and Abusive.

I know this is going to seem odd and completely ludicrous, but so is this entire NCAA regulation so here goes: What about renaming every team but the hockey team to something else? The post season rules only really affect them, not the hockey team. The NCAA already decided that they wanted to hold all regionals at neutral sites and will only assign such sites after 2006 (unless already named... IIRC). So, in other words, apart from the jersey and more than likely the commentating, it doesn't affect the hockey team at all. So... what do you think? Just drop the nickname entirely for the football and basketball teams and there you go?
-
What.... do I win? Self degrading or not, I think there are plenty of posters here who are far more "quotable" in a reliable setting than I am.
-
SUrprise factor 0 I told you that the NCAA needs UND to still be on the list or this ruling becomes a joke. UIUC will drop the mascot and they'll fall off the list. That leaves UND alone. How soon can the lawsuit begin?
-
Agreed on all accounts, save the lidstrom thing (as I didn't see that part due to having to leave the location that had OLN for my crappy apartment before it happened). Greene deserves another shot. And the refs sucked. The Oiler's first goal happened after they should have been called for tripping. The Wings' first goal happened after Holmstrom should have been called for slashing. The commentators stated all the players wanted was consistency. Well, they got it. The refs consistently sucked.

Don't worry, I will: Le Habs le suck! Viva le Hurrehkahnehzzz!!!!!

I'd be careful about doing too much of what is bolded in your statement.

Who knows. But if O'Connell was still the B's GM, I'm sure O'Connell wouldn't draft Toews. That guy couldn't evaluate talent if his life depended upon it. In all likelihood, The B's would trade Toews.

IMO, the affect would harm Major Juniors and Major Juniors players too. As it stands right now the CIAU (Or that's what I think they call the Canadian College hockey system) is made up mainly of former Major Juniors players. Those who have either used up their eligibility in major juniors or are, for some other reason, no longer involved with major juniors. There are a few DI transfers and Junior A and B players in there, but not a whole lot. So, the affect would be the Canadian colleges, under the current NCAA DI rules, would have to basically all start from scratch and those players who are currently on the team would lose eligibility overnight. IT would also harm Major Juniors as further dilluting the waters for Major Juniors. Now, don't get me wrong, Major Juniors still gets the majority of blue chip players, especially those from Canada and those who wish to play in North America from overseas. However, it will be a knife in the back by major Canadian institutions towards Major juniors. So, in sumation, it won't happen.

That's interesting about EJ. Not saying he's wrong because I'm certainly not "in the know." However, it's certainly newsworthy that EJ can go "right to the NHL right now" during the World Juniors to "3 years away." Kessel has been falling for some reason all year long. It seems somewhat preposterous to think he'd fall as far as #7, though. Even with his "red flags" I will say this: If Kessel should fall out of the top 10, there could be serious rioting on the floor with those who pick 11-20 to get Kessel at 11 and I'll say that it would be a steal. If Kessel falls at all, it will be down to the Gophers favorite number: 5. Oh yeah, Toews going to Chicago would be BAD NEWS for us. I'm positive they'll try to sign him immediately. Besides, only the Bruins suck worse than the Blackhawks when it comes to the Original Six. And I am going to catch hell for that. The Blackhawks are my father's favorite NHL team. But then again, I like the Red Wings... :shrugs:

My vote hasn't changed. Appeal denied.
-
I think this is great news. How will Brand view it? Simple: 2>1. Despite Standing Rock's support, the other two Sioux nations oppose it. Therefore, UND is still on the list. The NCAA NEEDS to make an example, and my hunch is UND is the example.
-
Another good question: How many minutes or hours will it take after the appeal is denied for the first of the pro name change crowd's crowing to start? I think it may be a little longer in coming now that GK has gotten himself ousted from here.
