I think the chances fall somewhere between Slim and None. If the NCAA settles, that would still make the policy basically unenforceable and practically null and void. Brand and Harrison would never stand for it. The only slim chance it would be is if the NCAA thought UND was "running away" with the Court and felt that the loss was inevitable and they wished to save something. Is the monetary damages UND suing for $2.6 million or $2.6 billion or am I completely off? I don't see $2.6 million as being all that costly to the NCAA. They should have gone for something substantial, like 75% of that TV contract's profit margin.

No. She was looking up the history of Demolition Derbies at the Moorhead Public Library. (Ok, I don't know what she was looking up, but the rest was true).

It's a man.... Anyways, I saw an old lady with a femullet today and I thought of you.

Pulease. Walski is a North Dakota boy as is Phil. Grieco is just a 4 game wonder. Walski should get the starts from here on out. No one can beat Walski and everyone knows it, even the players! I mean, he's yet to lose or even tie a game! He hasn't given up a single goal yet nor has he blown a game for UND in his career! I mean, what else do you want?

We're so desperate we're starting to make puns? Oy.

Whoa! I wasn't trying to be sarcastic or berate you or anything like that! I just honestly don't know! I mean, it is an honor to be named Captain or Alternate Captain at any level of hockey, no doubt about it, but would a team want their "A" and "C" players constantly being shipped out to the NHL and back? Maybe they do, I don't know. If I'm being sarcastic I'll put a smilie after it. And I don't attack posters... or at least I try hard not to.

I wonder if the AHL doesn't give the letters to deserving players that the AHL coaching staff feel has the best chance of remaining with the AHL team the longest during the season? Leadership isn't effective if they are constantly packing bags and heading up to the "parent" organization. I hate to say this, but I think Karl will never get a realistic shot in the NHL. Lundbohm and Genoway's chances are only slightly better. I dearly hope I'm wrong. Jordan Parise is a wild card. I don't see JPar making it as long as Clemmenson and Brodeur are healthy. I believe that JPar is the 4th string goaltender as well. Frank Doyle (formerly of UMaine) may be #3? Matt Smaby has the most realistic chance at getting called up now that Stafford and Zajac have broken the NHL ranks.

No chance! If the NCAA embraces Pontiac, then I should be safe! Now, Diggler, remove the Yugo or should I hire those lose..SCSU portestors to picket your front yard?

Ahem.... Pizza anyone?

First one is funny and the second one, more the truth This is about Winona's style

Stakes are extremely high, though correct? Or has things changed? Louisville lost to RU and that took them out of the BCS picture entirely. I'd imagine, unless things are suddenly different, that RU is now in the same boat: Win you're in, lose you're out!

You assume New Jersey could afford it... As much as I love the Devils (almost as much as I love the Wings!) they are simply paying too much for some of their players (McGillis is one of them).

Scrolled back and found it. It told me a few things: 1. Greg Shepherd is clueless 2. A.Rs are the only officials that can be suspended, unless the head official's incompetance results in the breaking of the neck of a player on the ice... that is only 1 month suspension, though. Blow two penalty calls (something that happens REALLY often in the WCHA regardless of who is playing) and you get the heave ho for an "indefinite" amount of time apparently. 3. Since 2000, how many officials have been suspended? 1, unless someone knows otherwise. Don Adam for a month. Kleven should be pissed that his two silly calls are more heinous than Don Adam's noncall. Greg Shepherd still needs to be fired.

I find the reference to the Yugo hostile and abusive to those from Yugoslavia! I demand you replace said Yugo with a more acceptable car: A Pontiac Lemans!

Smoggy is right. Tought to be on a downslide only applies to Michigan State. How sorry that program is to lose to Crapito and the Golden Bumblers... or if you want to include academics into it, the Mason Morons.

I missed something. Did an official get suspended? Could someone give me the information or link me to the posts that talk to this? I'd be darn appreciative.

Oh wow. Kindof reminds me of the Futurama episode where Earth declares war on the planet that has all those bouncing balls on them. After they are defeated the newspaper states something like "Earth Wins! Balls Thoroughly Licked!"

Are we really going to get into the Chapman vs. Kupchella crap again? Please, I'd rather not have this thread closed. And Lennon is a football coach. He has about as much of a chance at UND's Presidency as Bohl has a chance at heading up North Dakota's Department of Education.

LeftyZL, Goon, I refer you to this post. I think it pretty much sums it up. Favoritism assumes that, though corrupt, the officials have an idea of what they are doing. Calling it by situation is simply something that tells all involved that the officials haven't a clue. UND HAS gotten screwed by the officials quite a bit since I can remember, but it's hardly one sided. UND has benefitted from some downright crappy calls as well. THe fact remains, and will remain for however long Bruce's head is up his butt and Greg Shepherd is still drawing a paycheck from the WCHA, that many of the officials are not competant. I still think that there are a few who can still be "saved" such as Zelkin and, yeah, I believe Campion can be saved. Don Adam, Randy Schmidt, Todd Anderson, Mason, and Hunt are pretty much losses. Derek Shepherd is an interesting problem, IMO. It seems like one series he'll be a really good official, the next, he'll totally suck. However, it would be interesting to see whose officiating improves once the WCHA decides to actually follow NCAA directives, crackdowns, and points of emphasis.

Another note is that Ridderwall is a Notre Dame recruit. EDIT: Apparently Notre Dame is to Swedish Players (they now have two recruits from Sweden) as UNO is to Finnish players.
-
That's good news. He's come so darn far, it would suck to have his career end before he graduates... Perhaps he could redshirt this year medically and then have a full season next year to play? Dunno what the plans are, but I hope he comes out of it ok.

What are the trivia questions going to be this weekend? I missed them during the SCSU series UAA has been similar to UND as of late as MSUM has. Though neither team is a particularly strong team (I'd argue that MSUM has been stronger), both arenas have not been too kind to UND. I don't know what to really expect. They gave UW a real hard time. That being said, SCSU gave UMN a real hard time last weekend and we took 3 points from them. I can't wait for the series.

Grieco WCHA rookie of the week....Porter nominated for Off.
redwing77 replied to Sioux-Hockey-Fan's topic in Men's Hockey
Sioux-Hockey-Fan is right. I think Grieco has earned more playing time but I don't think he's quite earned the #1 spot ahead of Phil. And it works to the advantage of all (Phil, Anthony, and the Sioux) to have a type of competition that is developing because it gives both goaltenders rest, distributes the pressure among the two goaltenders pretty evenly, and puts the fear of Hakstol in both because they know that if they don't play their best, the other will take over. Southpaw is right as well. Parise is probably the best goaltender we've seen since Goehring but the determination started to arise well into Parise's time here. Grieco has played 4 games. That is WAY too soon to make that determination. -
I disagree. I'm in Atlanta this weekend so, since I can't listen or watch or get online (right now being the exception and i only have 2 minutes left before they kick me off) I think it is acceptable that there's no Sioux hocke ythis weekend.

Radke has been playing some of the best defensive hockey he's ever played as a member of the Sioux. His offensive numbers are low, but he's doing just about everything except for scoring goals. Right now, I'm happy Genoway has the flexibility to play forward because I can't think of a single defenseman I'd replace. Yeah, I know that there are many who'd say Finley, but I still think he's good. So there.
