At first glance it looks like the NCHC has been terrible in non conference games and it 2nd glance it is true that it hasn't been great......but..............maybe in the future they should look at the B10(Mike Eaves) non conference scheduling strategy. I consider and most who know college hockey would agree that the Hockey East, Big 10, NCHC, and now also the ECAC are the top 4 conferences in college hockey and the AHA and WCHA are without a doubt a notch below these 4. When breaking down non conference schedules you will find that the Big 10 has split it's non conference games 50/50 with half their games against the lower tier conferences(30-7-4) and half against their peer conferences(16-22-3) while the NCHC has a 38/62 split going 17-7-7 against the lower tier conferences and 18-23-8 against their peer conferences. The ECAC has a similar split as the NCHC at 34/66 going 22-9-4 against the lower tier conferences and 28-28-12 against their peer conferences. Hockey East has left little doubt they are the premier conference in hockey this season by not only playing 71% of their non conference games against their per conferences, but going 42-31-15 in these games while also going 28-8-0 against the lower tier conferences. I would currently rank our conference 3rd overall with the Big 10 4th but the problem comes in that the leagues are not balanced..... where the Big 10 has 3 pretty good teams and 1 below average team and 2 aweful teams, the NCHC has 1 pretty good team, 6 pretty average teams and 1 bad team. Laying out the Big 10 and the NCHC you can see how top heavy the Big 10 league is. If you were rating all the teams from both conferences you would have Minnesota SCSU Bucky Michigan UND WMU UMD DU Miami UNO Ohio State Sparty CC Penn State So while the Big 10 currently has 3 of the top 4 teams between the conferences, they also have 3 of the bottom 4 between them.

WTF are you talking about. Nebraska had 4 freshmen or redshirt freshmen QB's and a sophomore QB on the roster last year......one of whom started at the end of the season. And to compare Pelini to Muss is completely absurd. I swear sometimes people post on here just to build up their post count in hopes that others will see the high post count and assume they know what they are talking about.
-
Hope we can get this kid. His options at Minnesota would be to change positions or back-up Jones for 4 years(or 3 if he redshirts).

Tix are gone. Thanks

I have 2 available tonight in section 106. I am out of town so I would have them reprinted and left at will call. $40 for the pair. We can settle up later.

Don't feel like quoting and multiple posts. Have NO interest in Nelson at all. Could he compete for the job at UND? Sure, but I wouldn't say he would win the job outright over what we have. Could he win the starting job at NDSU? Not likely, I think a lot of NDSU people who are plugged into the program are very excited by having Carson Wentz the next 2 years. By almost all accounts he is a more talented QB than Jensen was....the question is the intangfibles as very few kids are born winners and leaders like Jensen was.

Well if his dad is also around 7-0, I am pretty sure I saw him at halftime today.

I see UND under Bubba slowing the tempo and pace of the game down. Cut out about 12 snaps a game which is 2-4 possessions. Keeping the offense on the field for longer periods of time allows you to hide a little of your depth issues on defense. As dominant as NDSU was on defense this year, I don't think Bison fans will tell you they were overly deep on defense and rotating 7 or 8 additional guys in like some teams do.....Their offense operates at pretty much the same tempo and pace game in and game out which allows their D to be rested and fresh.(getting 3 and outs helps as well) I think UND will have a gameplan on offense and try to stick to it as much as possible...many times under Muss it seemed like we went into games with a well lets see what happens and react to it plan instead of dictating our game. Many times a game would get over and it was like "well, we just couldn't run the ball" and I was thinking "Are you sure? There is a difference between not being able to run the ball and not running the ball" The biggest thing we need on defense is some guys who can cover in the secondary, someone to plug the middle and occupy 2 blockers and some speed at linebacker. This will allow us to bring pressure out of the 3-4 instead of the passive 3-4 we have played the last few seasons. I would rather see us give up a big play here and there with a chance at causing turnovers vs. getting gouged for 8-12 yards every down. I know Bubba said that initially we will probably be a team that bends and hopefully doesn't break but eventually I think he will have the personnel in place to be able to bring heat on defense. I think we will start putting our best athletes on defenserather than stockpiling running backs and wide outs on offense.

Looking for 2 Lower Bowl tickets for Saturday nights game against Colorado College. Thanks!

Based on previous champions, the national title will be worth in between $1.5M and $2.5M in licensing revenue to FSU....Darren Rovell Twitter Account Florida St has permission from the Seminole tribe to use name & icons, but doesn’t pay them a royalty on gear...Darren Rovell Twitter Account What I imagine they do is call up the Casino and alert them to the fact that a FSU alum is on his way to the Casino and would like to discreetly lose a few hundred thousand dollars.

Bubba's Staff: Who's it gonna be?.......and when?
petey23 replied to Siouxperfan777's topic in Football
While it is important for UND to repair the damage done in ND by the previous staff, lets remember that we are talking about 3-4 scholarship kids and 4-5 walk-ons a year. -
Went to the game tonight and I would have to describe my mood as agitated. That was hard to watch as we struggled with the 350th best team in the country or 2nd worst team if you want to look at it that way.
-
Saw that. Pretty wild. Ever tried it? I guess you can do that in several areas all around the state of ND.
-
I agree......but Coach Bohl and several of the assistants are still being paid by NDSU and have been paid by NDSU to recruit these kids and his contract does state that he cannot contact kids that NDSU has been recruiting unless Wyoming was already actively recruiting them.. NDSU was in a bad spot with him taking so much staff with him to Wyoming that Taylor had to decide between doing what was best for NDSU this year and for the Seniors on the team this season vs. doing what is best for NDSU going forward.......I am sure that the preference at the time and especially now with this going on, he wished he could have told Bohl to go kick rocks which I understand was the sentiment of most of the team as well.

While it is true that NDSU has owned North Dakota recruits lately, we need to remember that we are talking about 6-8 kids a year tops and probably 25% of them are preferred walkons. Minnesota and Wisconsin are the areas where NDSU has been building their championship teams.

Wow..... I am in the school that if your coach leaves then the kid should be able to weigh his options at that time as well for many reasons. Hopefully a kid falls back on the friendships and bonds he has made with his teammates when thinking through a decision like this and the school and coaching staff have instilled a culture in the program that would discourage a kid from leaving in this situation.....we have obvisously failed here. I don't have any inside knowledge but it sure sounds like in addition to this hiring process being drawn out the communication between the UND Athletic Department and the football team has been lacking at best. I have not heard how many or if any of the football players have been involved in this process at all? If not.....why? I know when NDSU "fired" Babich that the remaining Senior Class and possibly other team leaders had meeting with Gene Taylor as they went through the process and then comminicated with their teammates to keep everyone in the loop. As far as recruiting. Yes it puts us in a bad spot for this year but it can be overcome. NDSU absolutely whiffed on their recruiting class that graduated last year but more than made up for it with the outgoing class of seniors this year.

Sorry. I agree with you 100%. I accidently cut off the post you were quoting.

When Dale left UND did not open up the job externally so Bubba as an employee of UMD at the time was not able to apply. Pump your brakes.
-
I agree that Bubba should have been the choice to be our coach when Lennon left.......but that was never an option for him at the time.
-
I am also inclined to lean towards DeBoer at this point. For the record I wanted Bubba over Mussman when Lennon left but we chose not to open up the job and the results are what they are at this point. Maybe DeBoer would reach out to his former DC, Chuck Morrell who is now the head coach at Montana Tech....Or bring Schmidt with him from SIU....good either way.
