Brad Berry?

This could be a fun comparison. That 2016 team was legitimately loaded. Maybe in the 22-23 team thread we should line this up. My first instinct is 2016 has more overall talent.
-
I am? Seems like the point has been well stated. A large chunk of fans want to talk about Spicer as an indicator of UND/Bubs' problems. I'm fine being told what the point is if I am missing it. I would say the class is more than decent. Definitely more than decent. Them being freshman... I'm confused, is that good? I see it as very good.
-
Right, but again, maybe we stop talking about a non-UND recruit and about our really, really good recruits?
-
This is my main gripe... we've spent how many pages going in absolute circles about a kid who decided to leave us (I am making that very clear) and will likely be a 6th round draft pick or worse, while barely talking about one of the highest-scoring incoming classes in UND history (which addresses the idea of us adding scoring). Can't we just all cut bait and let this dang argument go?
-
It's fine. Let people continue to justify why he shouldn't be in college hockey this season. Mr. Spicer will get his chance to prove it either way. Second verse, same as the first ... Kid made his choice.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Farmer is definitely going to be slotted as a Top 4 guy. He's an absolute stud d-man. Incredibly smart and responsible. I'd expect him with Moore playing the same role he did with our favorite UMass defender ... fireman. He'll let Moore make plays and shutdown anything coming back the other way. Would I have liked a guy for one more year? Yes. Am I very happy with Farmer being on our team this season as we try and make a run? Without a doubt. -

Wish it would, but this will almost certainly be filled with a walk on guy with no scholly. -

Na. I wish, but na. Plus, it'll likely need to be a walk on. -
I asked this question, not sure if it was directed to him specifically, and got no response. Shocking, right?
-
in this situation, that would be correct lol. You've gotten so predictable, GF. I miss the old GF that would keep people guessing. You used to be such a wildcard! What happened to you?!?!

Final NHL Central Scouting ranks per Schlossy's article: 37. James, UND 54. Livanavage, UND 97. Damion Gardner, Clarkson 121. Spicer, UMD 175. Tyler Dunbar, UND
-
Correct. Which is why I was VERY confused about why anyone would pick Spicer over the likes of those two this season. Long term, I can see why. I don't necessarily agree, but I can understand the argument.
-
We'll find out how good he is as a 18 year old in the NCHC and then, of course, however long he stays in college. I'm sure this board will forget about him
-
One shot at the #natty for a sixth rounder... I understand why we are all sad about him, but the outrage over this kid is wild.
-
We all wanted him to stay here. HE chose to leave because he feels he was ready. We'll find out.
-
Final Central Scouting draft rankings has Spicer at 121. A sixth-rounder. What are we getting so upset about!? Again, he'll be a fine college player, but why are we so butthurt about this kid MAKING HIS OWN DECISION and leaving UND?? If he wasn't from Grand Forks, would we care?
-
Senden was never going to be top 6. We are adding arguably the most prolific scoring recruiting class UND has ever seen in Blake, James, McLaughlin, and Strinden. Spicer was NEVER going to see top 6 minutes this year. I just don't think for a minute that Spicer would come in here and contribute much this season. Him not having a spot feels like a pretty clear indication of that. He hasn't scored much at all in recent years. Why would he do so stepping right into the NCHC at MAYBE fourth line minutes, if at all? What makes you think he will/would? Guess will find out soon enough.
-
And I understand that conversation. I wasn't asking about that.
-
I understand taking four years (potentially) of Spicer, but you would have taken one year of Spicer over one additional year of Senden and Hain? So, this coming season, for one year, you would rather have Spicer?
-
Woulda been hard for Spicer to score this year from the bleachers. Hence why he chose to go elsewhere. #MoveOn

I was just told about it, too. It's meh lol. I wish him luck. I bet we'll see a walk on player added. -

Go on... lol -
Totally understand and appreciate when a player "buys into himself", but this doesn't feel like that. Feels like flat out bad advice. Maybe someone told him to "stick to his guns" and maybe UND would bite. As I type more about this player, I just realize how dumb this is and how all done I am with it lol. Good luck Spicer.
