  1. Can't turn the ball over 18 times on the road and expect to win. Tried to make the difficult pass when the easy pass was available. Tough loss but a split on the road is not all bad.
  2. Turnovers are killing us. Webb has 5 this half.
  3. Agree, Jones has finally got these guys playing together and passing to the open man. Schuler does need to get it going cause he is so important to UND on both ends of the floor. Seems his shot has been way off since he separated his shoulder so not sure if that is still an issue with him. Hopefully his shot comes back to him soon.
  4. No doubt a great road win and once again they played within themselves and moved the ball very well. It's amazing what this team can accomplish and look like when they play together.
  5. Calcaterra would be a better choice at the 4 since he does have a 10-15 foot shot. Salmonson has no shot outside around the basket.
  6. One thing we need to stop doing on defense is going for too many steals and not getting them and then our defense is out numbered. They have scored 3 or 4 times on easy shots due to this. Just play tough straight up defense and force them to take difficult shots.
  7. Sorry I meant Shanks starting not Cashman. So my starters are Tyler, Hooker, Stefen and Shanks with the hopes we get a 4 or even have Calcaterra start at the 4.
  8. I really believe we are sitting real good for next year. With Tyler, Hooker, Stefen and Cashman starting I think we are really strong with those 4. Antwi, Benton, Hobaugh, Salmonson and Calcaterra will bring us good support off the bench. The only question is who is going to play the 4. This group mentioned I believe will play much better together and less selfish as we have seen in the last 4 years which should make them better.
  9. What I have seen are in the 6' to 6'2" range.
  10. I believe I have seen some recruits at some games recently but not exactly sure who they may be. Seems some young looking players have been hanging around near the locker room after some games. The coaches just may be holding off offering some scholarships if they can't land some major players and save some for next years class so we don't have a situation like this year where they have 7 scholarships in one class.
  11. Don't disagree Hooker has done better as of late but he is only averaging 4.6 points/game and I believe between Anderson, Webb, Antwi and Schuler those points could have easily been produced in the 16+ minutes a game he is playing and we would have had him for 4 full years where he would have been utilized much more.
  12. I figure Geno may red-shirt next year with Tyler, Hooker, Antwi and Stefen back but then again I thought Hooker should have red-shirted this year and he didn't.
  13. They have no bench, their starters play 35+ minutes each and only one other player plays around 9-10 minutes a game. It would be huge if we can get them into foul trouble and bring out a huge weakness of theirs (the bench) or just run them into the ground and wear them out.
  14. I agree this team needs Huff playing like he did Thursday night. He played his best controlled game I believe I have ever seen him play and he still got his 20 points. Then on Saturday he starting playing like the selfish Huff in the 2nd half and Jones benched him after 2 very poor shots with 3 defenders on him. I've said it many times Huff will get his 20 if he is just patient and takes what the defense gives him, he does not need to force shots. The message was sent loud and clear, I just hope Huff responds to the benching and plays within the concept of the offense cause yes we do need Huff.
  15. Don't think that is the case, Huff took back to back horrible shots and immediately got sat down. He was benched due to his poor back to back shots. Jones has finally put the emphasis on good shots to all players and somewhere in an interview poor shots would not be tolerated, its all about ball movement and team. I like the message cause they have played much better team ball these last 3 games and with good team ball this team can beat anybody in this league.
  16. Great topic. What's most interesting about these four is that each one bring's something so different to the team. Huff is just so athletic, Anderson is quick and a great outside shot, Webb just weaves in and out throughout the lane and picks everyones pocket on defense, Schuler is just so solid in all areas and has a basketball IQ off the chart. What's even more amazing is that 3 have reached the 1000 point plateau and Schuler has over 800 points with missing around 16 games with injury. Bring Brekke into this topic and if he had not had so many injuries like Schuler this 5 member class could have had 5 for 5 over 1000 points. They are 3 for 3 in post season tournaments at the D1 level and have won 2 of 3 conference championships. They were the number 1 scoring freshmen class in the nation 3 years ago and the 5 have accounted for over 70% of the scoring since they arrived at UND. This is truly a remarkable class and the final chapter is still yet to be written.
  17. In a tight game in the final 8 minutes I would have Webb in over Hooker every game. Webb had 6 assists and 0 turnovers and made a critical drive for a conventional 3 point play towards the end. If you noticed Jones had all experienced players in the last 8 minutes in Huff, Anderson, Schuler, Webb. All seniors that have been in this situation many times over the last 4 years and ones he knew what they would do. I don't understand why Hooker is starting over Webb to begin with.
  18. It will take a complete team effort like Thursday night. I've got to give props to Huff concerning Thursday's game. He didn't force things and made some very good passes when he was immediately double teamed. He did most of his scoring at the end which impressed me even more cause in the past if he wasn't scoring much is when he started forcing things and that did not happen Thursday, he let the game come to him. Very impressed with him and hopefully this type of play continues.
  19. A TEAM win. Love it.
  20. The best ball movement I have seen in many years. This half proved we can be a team. Now let's finish this off the same way in the 2nd half.
  21. Disagree on this one. Schuler is proven so solid for 4 years and plays the way i wish others would play. If Schuler had not missed his games due to injuries he would have been another 1000 point scorer in this class. Schuler also plays 4 positions during his career so he is very versatile and does whatever is asked of him. Also, numbers don't prove Stefen is better at this point throughout their careers.
  22. I agree on Stefen but who's minutes does he take. I don't know why we even play Salmonson or Calcaterra and I see Benton's minutes were down against Montana State. At his point I believe we are playing too many guys and this should be cut down to 8 and maybe 9 max. This was a very good win for this club and came at a perfect time when they needed it the most. Obviously this team likes to play at Montana State with back to back wins there in the Big Sky era. Big Sky so far this year is crazy with who is beating who and it looks like no game is a sure thing no matter who you are playing or where. Going to be an interesting last 14 games.
  23. Don't forget 5 of those years were D1 transition years which are very difficult to recruit and win. Again the loss of Brekke is bigger than anyone could have imagined and yes his road record is horrible but so are most teams. I will stick to its as much the players fault as the coaches as I watch them game after game. Maybe his philosophy on recruiting will change and find fundamentally sound players in the future that are willing to work as a team instead of individuals. He keeps benching players for their selfish play but obviously they just don't get it and his bench is only so deep so he is forced to play these player probably more than he would like at this point.
  24. I am very disappointed as is everyone at this point in the season but I'm not sure firing Jones is the answer right now. These players have to take a lot of the responsibility because they should know how to play by now and Jones has at least been shaking up the lineups and benching players for their continued selfish play. Not sure what else he can do at this point. We are not shooting the ball well at all and without Brekke our post play is flat our horrible on both ends of the floor. Huff, Nash and Webb need to stop putting their heads down and driving most every time they get the ball with no thoughts of passing it cause every team is just collapsing all 5 guys in the paint and we are forcing shots. After Anderson's play at the point last night with 6 assists and moving the ball to the open man I believe Jones should make one more roster change and have Anderson start at the point, Webb has just not been himself all year. Calcaterra starts and most of the time does nothing like last night, 0 points and only played 2 minutes so why is he starting. I am sure they work on fundamentals like boxing out everyday but only Benton, Schuler and Stefen box out so who's fault is it that Traylor, Nash and Calcaterra don't box out when it comes game time, it's so simple when the shot goes up find a man. If we make the conference tournament we can be a scary team but I will make my final judgement after these next 15 games.
