Oh how our team is changing. Great point by the way. Gopher fans always rip on Sioux teams that were just a bunch of Canadians. I didn't care, I just want the best players who understand the culture of UND hockey. Now we're truly becoming a US team. 12 of the 14 from the US, just amazing. Goes to show how US hockey development is booming.
-
Absolutely, but I'd hate for the University to get "Siouxed."

That logo is offensive. Please remove it and destroy any remembrance of it....Please and thank you!

Its tough to bench Dell at this point, considering how well he's played. I like the point though, Eidness is solid and we'll probably lose him after this year. I'd be nice to have two goalies warm and ready going into the WCHA final five and NCAA tourney. I still do have all the confidence in the word for Eids, but Dell is the smart choice for both games this weekend.

I love this pickup for Hak and Co. We get blue chippers, Forbort/Nelson/Grimaldi/Miller, but they also build for the future by bringing in an older experienced D. We all were waiting for another D to be added considering how many we're going lose and potentially lose early in the next 2 season. This is a how the Sioux build, they want the best players, but also want a leader who will be here. Great pickup and a smart pickup to anchor us for years to come encase we lose Forbort or Simpson early.
-
I like Marto on forward, he's just so fast and has such a great hockey sense. I prefer him on D, but if it means having to sit Forbort/Simpson/Lapoint, lets keep him on forward. Forbort, as has been stated, didn't have the best weekend. The turnover on the Gophers first goal was a huge mistake. Doesn't mean we need to sit him. Also Nelson hasn't been the force many of us expected like Kristo had in his first year, but at the same time he's not getting tons of ice time. Nelson is definitely a 3 yr player here, as long as the Kings don't get impatient with his development (their GM ripped Red on Jack Johnson's development in Michigan). I doubt we'll see the same ripping on with Hak and Co. considering the talent the Sioux have been feeding to the NHL as of late.

Granted we haven't won the title in 2000. But our program is a top 3 program in the country. Basically every top recruit in the US has our eye on our program. We really haven't had a tough year since I believe it was '03. Every year top recruiting classes coming in and we haven't had a down year. The coaches know how to recruit and know how to recruit the RIGHT players for our program. Look at the way players stick around, that culture wasn't always here nor is it common especially in college hockey. I'm not satisfied with no championship each year, but I'm not blaming the coaches in a one and done situation. IMO the program is as strong as its ever been, if not more than in 2000 and 2001. Blais started rebuild something great and Hak and Co have solidified our program for YEARS to come.
-
I like the RoughRiders, but with Red River in town theres no way that will pass. Its gotta be something somewhat original. The university won't favorite RRHS like that.
-
Blais is an awesome coach and I do want him back! But not at the expense of Hak and Co. Our coaching staff is doing an amazing job, especially in the last 2-3 yrs with recruiting and taking our program to the next level.

Exactly, he has made some mistakes, but will come with the territory. Higher league and tougher competition will do that. Certainly 64th ranked isn't too shabby at all, I was just surprised to not see him creeping into the top 30 and we may see that. My predictions is he'll go mid 2nd round, no lower. Man, we got some great recruits coming in. But more importantly, with the integrity that Rocco sounds like he has, it will be a treat and great benefit to have him on our team.
-
By the way Simpson is playing and growing this year, I'm surprised that he's not higher. I mean Forbort went top 15 and really isn't seeing much time on the PP, where as Simpson is getting a lot more chances there. Either way, i could careless when they get drafted, I'd prefer 2-3rd rounders so we see them for 3-4 years.

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but my sister brought this to my attention. http://suhaki.com/ Look at the Zach Parise PSA. Good stuff.

Yeah I agree the Ralph with more seating and the comfort of it, makes it THE place to be on a Friday and Saturday night in GF. Yes the atmosphere is far different than the old Ralph. But the most popular sport in the state is not basketball. By far its hockey or football. I'd like to see the attendance at state tourney's or typical games to compare. By far hockey is a more followed sport than basketball in ND. Especially on the East side of the state.

Get Ready for This, 2 Unlimited baby. The Sioux used to come out to that, "Lets get ready to rumble." Love it to this day.

Goon, I need to apologize to you. Last week I was annoyed of how much you disliked C-Piss. I hated how you ripped on him. Friday I saw that scrum and noticed right away someones stick around Mac's throat, watched it over and over again. I'm still fuming on how that scrum turned out and the classlessness of the "fighting" of the Gophers. I didn't realize it was C-Piss until I saw your picture post from the lovely MissSioux. I will forever hate that piece of dirt player. BUT then he goes above and beyond on Saturday and gives Genoway a needless shove after that Barriball incident. Sitting here I still can't believe that scrum and C-pIsses actions during it. With the slightest of pressure could have crushed Mac's throat. What an absolute idiot. Face people like a man. Hes the type of person who would punch someone in the nuts and run away. Or get his older brother to beat up his friends because they beat him in SEGA NHL 94.
-
Those scores seem a little more realistic. Typically we come out flying on Friday night, so I think we'll see a 5-1 Friday, and a 3-2 Saturday. You gotta give the Gophers credit that weekend, they played tight hockey. I think they should be happy that it was on an NHL size rink and not an Olympic size rink. With our talent and work ethic, it would have been a sweep in Minneapolis (still shoulda been a sweep in GF)

That is impressive to say the least. 888 votes today at like noon. Sioux fans come together and now there is over 6k votes with Frattin in first. The best thing about it though is that he deserves the Hobey if the season ends today, so I have no problem with Sioux fans flooding the site.
-
888 people have voted. Probably 800 of them are ALL of Robert Morris fans. Clearly they didn't see Friday night.
-
I love the comparison of UND to Duke and UNC. I'd like to be the Duke of hockey. Ummm, on that note, University of North Dakota Green Devils? Sounds stupid, but if it brings us NC like Duke, I'll take it.
-
The key this weekend is all about intensity. Can the Gophers match what the Sioux will surely bring. Watching the games this weekend against Robert Morris and how the Sioux brought it without the fans really into it, you know its going be a good weekend. This rivalry the past 2-3 seasons has been basically one sided on intensity, so I look for the Sioux to continue the trend. I think we'll see a 6-2 win Friday night for the Sioux in white and a 3-2 win for the Sioux in BLACK! Dell of course both nights. As long as the Sioux can put home 3+ its a win for the Sioux at home with Dell. He's just so consistent. Gophers have had issues matching our energy and I'd be really surprised to see them match it this weekend.
-
Huge goal for Frattin, great shot. Sioux close it out, it wasn't a very good period for us. I'll take the win!
-
Jeez RM nearly buried several chances in the slot. Dell is solid
-
31-14 SOG, still 0-0
-
Completely agree, although the Knight hit was a little extreme. That player was coming in hard for a hit no matter what Knight did. Other than that its been a clean game. On another note, I can't believe Forbort got a 2 and a 10 for that scrum.
-
Cant believe the saves on Knight, especially that reach back save, wow. Just can't buy a goal, 30-12 SOG last I heard in favorite of the Sioux, 16-3 in the 2nd period. Speaking of Dell, I love how he controls rebounds, some issues with Eids is his rebound control and over playing plays, if that makes sense. He finds himself out of position after a rebound.
